Agricultural Knowledge Transfer In India: A Study Of Prevailing Communication Channels, I. V. Malhan, Shivarama Rao
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Abstract: The nature of agricultural research institutions and activities considerably influence the agriculture information sector in India. This paper describes the development of the agricultural sector in India and provides a comprehensive review of channels of agricultural knowledge transfer in India, including community projects, extension services, government initiatives, agriclinics, networks, and the role of non-governmental organizations and libraries. The paper concludes with the need for integration and consolidation of existing efforts for knowledge transfer from lab to land, and highlights the requirement of setting up a universal agricultural digital library, including content on all areas of agriculture.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a potentially serious psychiatric disorder that has traditionally been associated with traumatic stressors such as participation in combat, violent assault, and survival of natural disasters. Recently, investigators have reported that the experience of critical illness can also lead to PTSD, although details of the association between critical illness and PTSD remain unclear. Methods We conducted keyword searches of MEDLINE and Psych Info and investigations of secondary references for all articles pertaining to PTSD in medical intensive care unit (ICU) survivors. Results: From 78 screened papers, 16 studies (representing 15 cohorts) and approximately 920 medical ICU …

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Measuring Economic Development I - Persistent Poverty 1980-2000, David J. Peters
Measuring Economic Development I - Persistent Poverty 1980-2000, David J. Peters
Cornhusker Economics
Economic development is a priority for nearly all Nebraska communities. However, development is often confused with economic growth. Economic development entails “sustained progressive change to attain individual and group interests through the expanded, intensified and adjusted use of resources,” where “human welfare is the end product of the development process.”1 How do you measure such a value-laden and multifaceted concept to know whether development efforts have been successful? While there is no single answer to this question, one common and relatively easy method is to look at community poverty rates over time.

In October 2003, Paula Thomas Baker donated an original 17 January 1884 edition of the St. John Globe. This broadside newspaper--with a Mark Twain passage on the front page--offers an excellent example of nineteenth century newspaper design in Canada. The donor’s spouse, M. E. “Buddy” Baker, formerly worked in the Media Relations office at USF St. Petersburg.
The Effect Of Local Life Circumstances On Victimization Of Drug‐Involved Women, Gaylene Armstrong, Marie L. Griffin
The Effect Of Local Life Circumstances On Victimization Of Drug‐Involved Women, Gaylene Armstrong, Marie L. Griffin
Criminology and Criminal Justice Faculty Publications
While numerous studies have examined female victimization in the general population, fewer studies have focused specifically on high‐risk populations such as drug‐involved females. Of the existing literature, the Lifestyle Exposure and/or Routine Activities theory is frequently used to examine the antecedent conditions and correlates of female victimization. This study employs a dynamic modeling approach to examine the effect of short‐term change (i.e., monthly) in local life circumstances on female victimization within a criminogenic population. Results demonstrated that risk of victimization increased in months a woman was in a relationship, lived with a significant other and/or her children, engaged in criminogenic …

Time To Step Up: Modeling The African American Ethnivestor For Self Help Entrepreneurship In Urban America, Roger M. Groves
ExpressO
Almost $6 billion in taxes paid by the American people have been rather ubiquitously placed in the hands of a federal subsidy program for investors in low income communities. The subsidy is in the form of a tax credit. The program is entitled the New Markets Tax Credit (“NMTC”) initiative. Under the program, the tax credit is used to lure investors to provide equity capital into low income areas, urban and/or rural (i.e. a new market for equity funding). According to my companion law review article (Florida Tax Review, Spring, 2007; The Florida Tax Review was ranked 1st among tax …

Carsey Publications
New England is growing more slowly than the rest of the nation. The region is becoming more racially diverse, and demographic trends contrast sharply between northern and southern New England and metropolitan and rural areas. New England's population stood at 14,270,000 in July 2006, marking a gain of just 2.5 percent since 2000, less than half the rate.
