Quartz is a common mineral found in archaeological lithic assemblages from sites around the globe, however, little analysis and interpretation of these assemblages has been conducted Quartz debitage can make up nearly the entire lithic assemblage and can total hundreds to thousands of pieces. Valuable information can be attained by studying the debitage in these assemblages, such as the type of reduction technique, stage of reduction, and the relative distance to different lithic sources. The question of whether or not chimpanzees possess the ability to mentally represent others' mental states has been a popular question since Premack and Woodruff (1978) originally asked the question. It is well established that humans have a theory of mind (ToM), but extending this psychological faculty to our evolutionary cousins has created a massive amount of literature and research attempting to resolve this issue. Such a resolution is arguably not possible given the nature of the debate. There is no common consensus among theorists regarding the nature and purpose of postpartum depression. Evolutionary theorists have proposed that the onset of postpartum depression is an adaptive function that signals a potential fitness cost to the mother i. e. the investment in the child will be cost more than the evolutionary benefits to be gained from rearing this child Many studies have shown that there is a strong correlation between postpartum depression and lack of paternal or social support indicating that when these two variables are absent the mother is more likely to experience postpartum depression. The acropolis of Yoqne‘am is occupied by an enclosure that is considered to be the remains of a Crusader fortress. The IAA excavations here explored the remains of the Crusader, Mamluk and Ottoman periods in three main areas: inside the enclosure, the connection with the Crusader church, and in one of the corner towers. This volume presents the architecture and stratigraphy of the site, as well as the pottery, coins, glass and other small finds, such as oil lamps and clay tobacco pipes.

In the spring of 1951, the Iranian government nationalized the British-controlled oil industry, supported by a massive popular movement. The National Front, which led the movement, mainly consisted of three social groups: the clergy (ulama), secular intellectuals, and the bazaaris (merchants, guilds, and artisans). Despite its importance, the role of the bazaaris has not sufficiently been articulated in previous studies.

Do the different approaches automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) take to working relations with their suppliers affect economic variables that impact bottom line results? This study is focused on exploring this question through four hypotheses:

1. Cooperative-trusting relationships lead to reduced costs of sourced materials and overhead.

2. Cooperative-trusting relationships lead to increased levels of innovation with a lower investment in research and development.

3. Cooperative-trusting relationships lead to improved product quality.

Development Of Audiovisual Comprehension Skills In Prelingually Deaf Children With Cochlear Implants, Tonya R. Bergeson, David B. Pisoni, Rebecca A. O. Davis

Scholarship and Professional Work - Communication

Objective: The present study investigated the development of audiovisual comprehension skills in prelingually deaf children who received cochlear implants.

Design: We analyzed results obtained with the Common Phrases (Robbins et al., 1995) test of sentence comprehension from 80 prelingually deaf children with cochlear implants who were enrolled in a longitudinal study, from pre-implantation to 5 years after implantation.

Results: The results revealed that prelingually deaf children with cochlear implants performed better under audiovisual (AV) presentation compared with auditory-alone (A-alone) or visual-alone (V-alone) conditions. AV sentence comprehension skills were found to be strongly correlated with several clinical outcome measures of speech …

The guinea pig (Cavia aperea porcellus) is an alternative to improve human nutrition because its meat is of excellent taste and quality. Thus, it is an important nutritional source. The feed conversion index was determined under the basic (forage) and mixed (forage and concentrate) diets during the growth phase. This was done with both sexes located in the Tamborada and MEJOCUY populations, using the AUQUI, and San Luis lines. This was done in order to quantify how many kilograms of feed an animal must eat to gain one kilogram of live weight. The animals were randomly distributed into individual pools …

Objective:

To assess the predictive validity of continuous measures of problem recognition (PR), intentions to change (ITC), and overall readiness for change (RFC) among primary caregivers who received in-home services following substantiated reports of child abuse or neglect.

Method:

A modified version of the University of Rhode Island Change Assessment scale was included in interviews with a sample of 353 primary caregivers at 4 weeks, 16 weeks, and 1 year after referral for in-home services. Additional data were obtained from administrative records and caseworker surveys. Hierarchical linear and nonlinear models were used to assess relationships between PR, ITC, RFC and …
