Differences Between Resolved Versus Unresolved Adolescents On Selected Measures Of Behavior And Cognitive Processes, Linda L. Webster, Rachelle K. Hackett

Benerd College Faculty Presentations

This study investigated differences between unresolved attachment, reports of behavior, and associated cognitive processes in a maltreatment sample. Participants were 22 adolescents with a history of maltreatment. Measures included the Adult Attachment Projective (George, West, & Pettem, 1997), the Behavioral Assessment System for Children (Reynolds & Kamphaus, 1998), and selected scales from the Woodcock-Johnson Third Edition Tests of Cognitive Ability (Woodcock, McGrew, & Mather, 2001). Results found that parent ratings on five BASC subscales were significantly different for resolved versus unresolved adolescents, and adolescent self-reports were found to differ on four BASC subscales and one BASC composite. Results also found …

Young Singles: A Look At The Grocery Shopping Preferences Of A Unique And Underestimated Market, Survey & Analysis, Kelley Steinhofer Apr 2005

Young Singles: A Look At The Grocery Shopping Preferences Of A Unique And Underestimated Market, Survey & Analysis, Kelley Steinhofer

Honors Theses

Single person households make up a substantial percentage of the total U.S population. More than 102 million people aged 15 and over were not married in 2003. On a household basis, 48.5% of U.S. households were not headed by married couples. Some of these households are "nonfamily" which excludes single parent households according to U.S. Census Bureau definitions. Most studies that examine a specific demographic group have focused on households with children and mature consumers because their purchasing behaviors are highly predictable and easily obtainable. Very little research currently exists on the market of young, single adult consumers. This study …

Hog Markets, Al Prosch

Cornhusker Economics

If the lean hog carcass futures prices are any indicator, producers should have four or five months of very good prices. Feed costs are down from this period a year ago and futures prices through September are very good. If actual prices are at or near futures expectations, profits will be good. Beyond September the profit picture changes quickly.

Campus Learning Spaces: Investing In How Students Learn, Stephen R. Acker, Michael D. Miller Apr 2005

Campus Learning Spaces: Investing In How Students Learn, Stephen R. Acker, Michael D. Miller

Robert E. Kennedy Library

To justify the substantial investment in bricks-and-mortar construction, colleges and universities must design and continually renew the physical spaces in which students learn. A variety of research studies document that today's students learn differently than did many of the faculty now teaching them and that the design of learning spaces can favor or disadvantage various ways of learning. Campus planners are challenged to build flexible interior spaces so that buildings with 100-year life spans can continually adapt to new generations of learners and our new discoveries of how people learn. Without this capacity to modify the learning environment, institutions put …

Reference On The Road: In-Class Reference Assistance For Composition Students, Charlotte M. Droll, Mary Lou Baker Jones Apr 2005

Reference On The Road: In-Class Reference Assistance For Composition Students, Charlotte M. Droll, Mary Lou Baker Jones

University Libraries' Staff Publications

Description:

Wright State University's Dunbar Library has successfully combined its outstanding traditional reference service with the College of Liberal Arts completely modernized electronic classrooms to provide in-class, at-the-elbow reference consultations to 60%, or 1200, of the University's composition students.

The Solution:

Two years ago the Reference and Instruction Department initiated a service called "in-class reference assistance". It serves the University's composition program in which all incoming students enroll. At the request of a composition teacher two Reference staff members work one-on-one with students right in their electronic classrooms. They help students to generate good search terms, choose places to look, …

Up The Down Escalator: Creating Realistic Expectations With Teaching Faculty, Stephanie Wiegand, Sarah Naper

University Libraries Publications

Has a faculty member ever approached you and asked you to come to her class to talk to students about library services and research tools, and when you ask, “What are the learning objectives for the session?” the faculty member replied, “Oh, they just need to know everything about library research, library services, how to evaluate information, and how to access materials in the library and online.” How much is reasonable for a subject librarian to impart to students in a single 50-minute one-shot? Join colleagues to discuss strategies for managing faculty expectations of library sessions and approaches for narrowing …
