ezDI uses large and extensive knowledge graph to enhance linguistics, NLP and ML techniques to improve structured data extraction from millions of EMR records. It then normalizes it, and maps it with various computer-processable nomenclature such as SNOMED-CT, RxNorm, ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and LOINC. Furthermore, it applies advanced reasoning that exploited domain-specific and hierarchical relationships among entities in the knowledge graph to make the data actionable. We present a computational cognitive model that explains transfer of learning across two games of strategic interaction – Prisoner's Dilemma and Chicken. We summarize prior research showing that, when these games are played in sequence, the experience acquired in the first game influences the players’ behavior in the second game. The same model accounts for human data in both games. The model explains transfer effects with the aid of a trust mechanism that determines how rewards change depending on the dynamics of the interaction between players. We proposed an exploratory study on the effects of participation in a treatment mall. We interviewed currently enrolled patients at the Recovery Mall at a state-operated behavioral healthcare hospital in Ohio. Treatment malls are an increasingly popular approach to rehabilitation of inpatient populations (Webster & Harmon, 2006). The popularity of the approach is based on the theory that empowerment of the consumer to participate in decision-making will aid in restoring functioning and return to community living (Rahe, 2001). In response to the library’s strategic plan, the Wright State University Dunbar Library is in the midst of a long-term, multi-modal building use study. In the spring of 2015, the library’s assessment team used a combination of an open-source tablet-based software program, photographs, questionnaires, and preference-based voting to capture information about physical space use, building user perceptions, and user needs.

Euclidean embedding algorithms transform data defined in an arbitrary metric space to the Euclidean space, which is critical to many visualization techniques. At big-data scale, these algorithms need to be scalable to massive dataparallel infrastructures. Designing such scalable algorithms and understanding the factors affecting the algorithms are important research problems for visually analyzing big data. We propose a framework that extends the existing Euclidean embedding algorithms to scalable ones. Specifically, it decomposes an existing algorithm into naturally parallel components and non-parallelizable components. Exploring The Racial Divide In Education And The Labor Market Through Evidence From Interracial Families, Peter Arcidiacono, Andrew Beauchamp, Marie Hull, Seth Sanders

We examine gaps between minorities and whites in education and labor market outcomes, controlling for many covariates including maternal race. Identification comes from different reported races within the family. Estimates show two distinct patterns. First, there are no significant differences in outcomes between black and white males with white mothers. Second, large differences persist between these groups and black males with black mothers. The patterns are insensitive to alternative measures of own race and school fixed effects. Our results suggest that discrimination is not occurring on the basis of child skin color but through mother-child channels such as dialect or …
