The survey was based upon the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as health assessments conducted by neighboring counties and priority health needs within the county. Intellectual Disability is a condition that affects one's ability to learn and function independently. The condition is characterized by subaverage intellectual functioning and significant impairments in adaptive functioning, with onset occurring prior to age 18. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-IVTR) uses the term Mental Retardations to describe these individual differences in cognitive and adaptive abilities. However, the term Mental Retardation has received significant criticism in recent years, and the term Intellectual Disability (ID) is being used with greater acceptance. Despite the struggling economy and the challenges that have plagued the commercial aviation market, the national Aerospace and Aviation industry has experienced growth from 2005 to 2009. U.S. Aerospace sales increased by 21 percent and profits increased by 29 percent. However, at the same time, aircraft production lines have contracted as a result of decreased defense spending over the past 15 years. This contraction has limited production surge capacity, an event that is looming as a result of aging aircraft in both the commercial and defense fleets.

This narrative addresses the three broad categories of project objectives for 2011:

(1) The maintenance of a Prescription Drug Poisoning Coalition to address the problem of unintentional prescription drug overdose deaths by reviewing relevant data and making recommendations to Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County (PHDMC) and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH).

(2) The continued development and operation of a Poisoning Death Review (PDR) process focusing on prescription drugs.

(3) The facilitation and conduct of targeted Information, Training, and Educational Activities to help address and prevent prescription drug overdoses.

The study of codon usage bias is an important research area that contributes to our understanding of molecular evolution, phylogenetic relationships, respiratory lifestyle, and other characteristics. Translational efficiency bias is perhaps the most well studied codon usage bias, as it is frequently utilized to predict relative protein expression levels. We present a novel approach to isolating translational efficiency bias in microbial genomes. There are several existent methods for isolating translational efficiency bias. Previous approaches are susceptible to the confounding influences of other potentially dominant biases. There were 130 unintentional drug overdose deaths in Montgomery County in 2011. The designation of unintentional (accident), as compared to intentional (suicide), is made by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. The Poison Death Review (PDR) is the compilation, presentation, and interpretation of data from multiple data streams within the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. This is the second year a PDR has been completed for Montgomery County. The first time was in 2010.

The Linked Open Data (LOD) is a major milestone towards realizing the Semantic Web vision, and can enable applications such as robust Question Answering (QA) systems that can answer queries requiring multiple, disparate information sources. However, realizing these applications requires relationships at both the schema and instance level, but currently the LOD only provides relationships for the latter. To address this limitation, we present a solution for automatically finding schema-level links between two LOD ontologies – in the sense of ontology alignment. We report on a recent advance in integrating Rules and OWL. We discuss a recent proposal, known as nominal schemas, which realizes a seamless integration of Datalog rules into the description logic SROIQ which underlies OWL 2 DL. We present extensions of the standardized OWL syntaxes to incorporate nominal schemas, reasoning algorithms, and a first naive implementation. And we argue why this approach goes a long way towards overcoming the present paradigm split.

Last November, I moderated a session at the Thirtieth Annual Charleston Conference called ''Ask an Aggregator." Panelists-Kevin Sayar, president of ebrary; Kari Paulson, president of EBL; Rich Rosy, vice president for library services at Ingram Digital; and Tim Collins, president of EBSCO-representing four e-book aggregators fielded a variety of questions from the audience. There were many similarities between the aggregators, each boasting a strong commitment to providing service, expanding title lists, and offering a variety of business models. This study used two implicit attitude measures (a Go/No-Go Association Task; GNAT and a personalized GNAT; PGNAT) and three explicit measures to assess attitude change in faculty attending a diversity training session on women in STEM. It was hypothesized that (1) pre- and post-training explicit scores would correlate more strongly with the PGNAT than with the GNAT, (2) training would result in more positive attitudes toward women in STEM, and (3) difference scores would be greatest in the explicit scales, followed by the GNAT and PGNAT. Partial support was found for a stronger correlation between the PGNAT and explicit scores, …

This paper examines the impact that opinion has on foreign trade. Specifically, the paper examines how opinion towards the U.S. impacts U.S. exports and how changes in opinion toward the U.S. impact U.S. exports. Using survey data from the Pew Global Attitudes Projects and export data, the paper examines these relationships for 21 countries between 2002 and 2010. Regression analysis of the panel data reveals that positive opinion levels and positive changes in opinion have statistically significant positive impacts on U.S. exports. However, this conclusion is somewhat tempered by the unbalanced nature of the available data which prevents a greater …

The unique institutional environment of China's stock markets provides a rich setting to study the relationship between investors‟ behavior and market returns in the case of information inefficiency. This study extends the well documented Dogs of the Dow (Dow Dogs) strategy to China's A share stock market. We find that Dow Dogs portfolios significantly outperform the market benchmark for the period of 1994 to 2009 in China's markets. Further analysis indicates that (1) The fewer Dogs included in the portfolio, the greater the portfolio abnormal returns; (2) In general, the shorter holding period (in months), the greater the portfolio abnormal …

Problem statement: The Dogs of the Dow (Dow Dogs) strategy, which has gained widespread popularity in the U.S., is found to be considerably successful in China’s stock markets. This trading strategy contradicts the well-established efficient market hypothesis. Approach: This study examines the cross-sectional variations in the magnitude of the predictive power of the Dow Dogs strategy using Chinese stocks for 1994-2009. Results: Our results suggest that (1) Significant Dow Dogs effect apply to Class A shares, but not Class B shares; (2) Stocks priced between 1and1and5 demonstrate the strongest Dogs effect among all stock price ranges; (3) Changes in share …

Confidence intervals convey valuable information regarding the uncertainty of point estimates, and their utility to users of business forecasts is no exception. The conclusions drawn from these forecasts can be significantly impacted by the perception of a confidence interval's distribution, however. There is a tendency for business managers and other decision makers who lack statistical expertise, despite being generally well educated, to incorrectly assume confidence intervals are uniformly distributed. This paper analyzes the Dayton, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) to examine the extent to which public school quality influences housing prices. Research is conducted in the Dayton region at both the city and neighborhood levels. City level analysis indicates a significant linear relationship between school quality and home prices. However, the results of this analysis are likely distorted by collinearity between school quality and neighborhood characteristics, such as crime rate. In an effort to mitigate collinearity and control for neighborhood characteristics, neighborhood level analysis is conducted using 933 individual homes located in areas where separate school districts border. The purpose of this research is to examine how privatization of water resources has created social inequalities and environmental degradation on an international scale by understanding the ways in which water has become a market commodity, and how water resources are managed within a private framework versus a public framework. Two frameworks will be compared: neoliberal policy and the social provisioning approach to managing water resources.
