Congested roadways and declining air quality standards are major concerns for many communities faced with the challenges of suburban growth and city decay. How each community chooses to fight the problems created by urban sprawl depends greatly on individualized characteristics of the community. Analyzing and understanding unique values of each community provides a sound foundation for measures designed to promote sustainable growth initiatives. Typically, research on emergent literacy and phonemic awareness is focused on children older than five years of age. The research clearly suggests that emergent literacy and phonemic awareness skills are precursors for children to learn to read and that low-income children often lack these skills. However, very little research has focused on emergent literacy and phonemic awareness skills of four-year-olds. Another important factor that has been neglected, thus far, is the impact parents may have on their children acquiring these skills. Changing lifestyles in today's world have resulted in the evolution of many human activities. One of them is recreational drug use. The purpose of this study was to explore the association between drug usage, mental well-being and felony convictions among a sample of adult recreational drug users. The primary purpose of this analysis was to develop a set of predictor variables from the DRUGNET data set (i.e., lifestyle, drug usage, GWBS) that were able to account for the criterion variables (i.e., drug-related felony vs. no drug- related felony and non-drug felony vs. no felony ).
