Copula-Based Models For Bivariate And Multivariate Zero-Inflated Count Time Series Data, Dimuthu Fernando, Norou Diawara

College of Sciences Posters

Count time series data have multiple applications. The applications can be found in areas of finance, climate, public health and crime data analyses. In some scenarios, count time series come as multivariate vectors that exhibit not only serial dependence within each time series but also with cross correlation among the series. When considering these observed counts, analysis presents crucial challenges when a value, say zero, occurs more often than usual. There is presence of zero-inflation in the data.

In this presentation, we mainly focus on modeling bivariate zero-inflated count time series model based on a joint distribution of the two …

Fisheries research reports

A recovery program for the West Coast Demersal Scalefish Resource was introduced between late 2007 and early 2010, based on the maintenance of retained catches of demersal species (overall suite and each indicator species) by both the commercial and recreational sectors below 50% of the catches reported in 2005/06 (original catch recovery benchmarks).

Catch reductions were aimed at reducing exploitation levels (F, long-term fishing mortality of the key indicator species’ stocks) to below the threshold reference point (F = M, the natural mortality rate), which would then allow stocks to recover to above the …

Institutional Context Drives Mobility: A Comprehensive Analysis Of Academic And Economic Factors That Influence International Student Enrollment At United States Higher Education Institutions, Natalie Cruz Apr 2021

Institutional Context Drives Mobility: A Comprehensive Analysis Of Academic And Economic Factors That Influence International Student Enrollment At United States Higher Education Institutions, Natalie Cruz

College of Education & Professional Studies (Darden) Posters

International student enrollment (ISE) has become a hallmark of world-class higher education institutions (HEIs). Although the U.S. has welcomed the largest numbers of international students since the 1950s, ISE shrunk by 10% in the previous three years from an all-time high of 903,127 students in 2016/2017 (IIE, 2019). Research studies about international student mobility and enrollment highlights the significant role that academic and economic rationales play for international students. This quantitative, ex post facto study focused on the influence of ranking, tuition, Optional Practical Training, Gross Domestic Product, and the unemployment rate on ISE at 2,884 U.S. HEIs from 2008 …

Unsupervised Multivariate Time Series Clustering, Md Monibor Rahman, Lasitha Vidyaratne, Alex Glandon, Khan Iftekharuddin Apr 2021

Unsupervised Multivariate Time Series Clustering, Md Monibor Rahman, Lasitha Vidyaratne, Alex Glandon, Khan Iftekharuddin

College of Engineering & Technology (Batten) Posters

Clustering is widely used in unsupervised machine learning to partition a given set of data into non-overlapping groups. Many real-world applications require processing more complex multivariate time series data characterized by more than one dependent variables. A few works in literature reported multivariate classification using Shapelet learning. However, the clustering of multivariate time series signals using Shapelet learning has not explored yet. Shapelet learning is a process of discovering those Shapelets which contain the most informative features of the time series signal. Discovering suitable Shapelets from many candidates Shapelet has been broadly studied for classification and clustering of univariate time …

Resource Assessment Report Temperate Demersal Elasmobranch Resource Of Western Australia, Matias Braccini, Nick Blay, S. A. Hesp, Brett Molony

Fisheries research reports

This document provides a cumulative description and assessment of the TDER and all of the fishing activities (i.e. fisheries / fishing sectors) affecting this resource in WA. Future Resource Assessment Reports will assess the Statewide Sharks and Rays Resource. The report is focused on the temperate indicator species (whiskery, gummy, dusky and sandbar sharks) used to assess the suites of demersal sharks and rays that comprise this resource. These species are primarily captured by demersal gillnets used in the TDGDLF that operate in the West Coast and South Coast Bioregions. For the North Coast bioregion, no commercial fishing for sharks …

Australian Herring And West Australian Salmon Scientific Workshop Report, October 2017, Brent S. Wise, Brett W. Molony

Fisheries research reports

A scientific workshop was held on 25th – 29th September 2017 to review available data for Australian herring (Arripis georgianus) and determine current stock status using the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s (DPIRD) Risk-based Weight of Evidence Approach. Recommendations for future monitoring and assessments required to reduce uncertainties and establish sustainable catch levels were also made. Similar discussions were undertaken to establish monitoring and assessment approaches for establishing sustainable catch levels for West Australian salmon (Arripis truttaceus). The workshop was attended by DPIRD and non-DPIRD scientists, fishery managers from DPIRD and South Australia, commercial …
