A New Estimator Based On Auxiliary Information Through Quantitative Randomized Response Techniques, Nilgün Özgül, Hülya Çıngı

An exponential-type estimator is developed for the population mean of the sensitive study variable based on various Randomized Response Techniques (RRT) using a non-sensitive auxiliary variable. The mean squared error (MSE) of the proposed estimator is derived for generalized RRT models. The proposed estimator is compared with competitors in a simulation study and an application. The proposed estimator is found to be more efficient using a non-sensitive auxiliary variable.

Although multiple imputation is the gold standard of treating missing data, single ratio imputation is often used in practice. Based on Monte Carlo simulation, the Expectation-Maximization with Bootstrapping (EMB) algorithm to create multiple ratio imputation is used to fill in the gap between theory and practice.

Planners of longitudinal studies of binary responses in applied sciences have not yet benefitted from optimal designs, which have been shown to improve precision of model parameter estimates, due to absence of a computer program. An interactive computer program for Bayesian optimal binary repeated measurements designs is presented for this purpose.

A new class of weighted distributions is proposed by incorporating an extended exponential distribution in Azzalini’s (1985) method. Several statistics and reliability properties of this new class of distribution are obtained. Maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters cannot be obtained in explicit forms; they have to be obtained by solving some numerical methods. Two data sets are analyzed for illustrative purposes, and show that the proposed model can be used effectively in analyzing real data.

Data depth has been described as alternative to some parametric approaches in analyzing many multivariate data. Many depth functions have emerged over two decades and studied in literature. In this study, a nonparametric approach to classification based on notions of different data depth functions is considered and some properties of these methods are studied. The performance of different depth functions in maximal depth classifiers is investigated using simulation and real data with application to agricultural industry.

A comparison of double informative priors assumed for the parameter of exponential life time model is considered. Three different sets of double priors are included, and the results are compared with a forth single prior. The data is Type II censored and Bayes estimators for the parameter and reliability are carried out under a squared error loss function in the cases of the four different sets of prior distributions. The predictive distribution was derived for future failure time and also for the remaining ordered failure times after the first r failure times have been observed. Trimmed elemental regression is robust to outliers and violations of model assumptions. Its properties and statistical inference were evaluated using bias-corrected and accelerated bootstrap confidence intervals. An R package named TEEReg is developed to compute the trimmed elemental estimates and the corresponding bootstrap confidence intervals. Two examples are provided to demonstrate its usage.

Outlier Impact And Accommodation On Power, Hongjing Liao, Yanju Li, Gordon P. Brooks

The outliers’ influence on power rates in ANOVA and Welch tests at various conditions was examined and compared with the effectiveness of nonparametric methods and Winsorizing in minimizing the impact of outliers. Results showed that, considering both power and Type I error, a nonparametric test is the safest choice to control the inflation of Type I error with a decent sample size and yield relatively high power.

A lack of consideration for all aspects of a question prompts fragmented decision making. These decisions, as they leave out fundamental information, repeatedly then lead to a potentially problematic reaction to the target question or stimuli. The anchoring heuristic propels one to make a decision, usually an estimate, based on a presented “fact”, often ignoring additional background and environmental clues. Reducing the rate of occurrence of the anchoring bias is thought to lead to an increase in holistic decision making. Cattle price discovery is a process of determining the price in the market through the interactions of cattle buyers (packers) and sellers (ranchers). Locating the price discovery center or market, and estimating price interactions among the regional fed cattle markets and also among feeder cattle markets can help define a relevant fed cattle procurement market. This research identifies that the U.S. cattle markets is discovered in the futures markets, feeder cattle futures and fed futures.

A General Approach For Predicting The Behavior Of The Supreme Court Of The United States, Daniel Katz

Building on developments in machine learning and prior work in the science of judicial prediction, we construct a model designed to predict the behavior of the Supreme Court of the United States in a generalized, out-of-sample context. To do so, we develop a time-evolving random forest classifier that leverages unique feature engineering to predict more than 240,000 justice votes and 28,000 cases outcomes over nearly two centuries (1816-2015). Using only data available prior to decision, our model outperforms null (baseline) models at both the justice and case level under both parametric and non-parametric tests. In particular, we are looking to analyze the differences between the standard single-elimination tournament (which the NCAA has used since the inception of the tournament) and other potential options: double-elimination and multiple game series. Most of the variance in diurnal cortisol is attributable to intraindividual variability (IIV), defined as relatively short-term, reversible changes. Multiple methods for measuring IIV have been proposed, and some have already been applied to cortisol IIV. In the present review, measurement methods are described and applied to simulated cortisol data with known underlying differences in IIV and to real cortisol data from first-year law students. More slope variance and more residual or net variance were well captured by their individual standard deviations. Social media, as a major platform to disseminate information, has changed the way users and communities contribute content. In this paper, we aim to study content modifications on public Facebook pages operated by news media, community groups, and bloggers. We also study the possible reasons behind them, and their effects on user interaction. We conducted a detailed study of Content Censorship (CC) and Content Edit (CE) in Facebook using a detailed longitudinal dataset consisting of 57 public Facebook pages over 3 weeks covering 145,955 posts and 9,379,200 comments. Dampak program dilihat dalam hal kebijakan, pendanaan, fasilitas, sumber daya manusia dan pelaksanaan program promosi kesehatan. Angka kematian ibu di Indonesia berdasarkan Survei Demografi dan Kesehatan Indonesia (SDKI) tahun 2012 sebanyak 359 per 100.000 kelahiran hidup. Penyebab kematian ibu tersebut masih didominasi oleh pendarahan, pre-eklampsia/eklampsia, dan infeksi. Salah satu penyebab infeksi adalah ketuban pecah dini (KPD). KPD dapat meningkatkan morbiditas dan mortalitas pada ibu dan anak. Insiden kejadian KPD sekitar 10,7% dari seluruh persalinan. Pencapaian Program KB di Sumatera Utara kurang menggembirakan. Total Fertility Rate Sumatera Utara (3,0) lebih tinggi dibandingkan nasional (2,6); dan prevalensi kontrasepsi (55,9 %) lebih rendah dibandingkan nasional (61,9%). Sebagai salah satu strategi peningkatan kesertaan KB, pelayanan momentum sterilisasi pria dikhawatirkan tidak memenuhi standar pelayanan karena dikaitkan dengan rekor MURI. For continuous data, various statistical hypotheses testing methods have been extensively discussed in the literature. In this article a review is provided of the multiple-sample continuous-data testing methods. It includes traditional methods, such as the two-sample t-test, Welch ANOVA test, etc., as well as newly-developed ones, such as the various Multiple Comparison Procedure (MCP). Factor Analysis (FA) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) are well-known main tools of the multivariate statistics for data analysis, reduction, and visualization. Commonly, the analysis and interpretation of their solutions is performed for each of several main eigenvectors with variances explaining a big part of the total variability in data. Multiple linear regression can be applied for predicting an individual value of dependent variable y by the given values of independent variables x. But it is not immediately clear how to estimate percent change in y due to changes in predictors, especially when those are correlated. This work considers several approaches to this problem, including its formulation via predictors adjusted by their correlation structure. Ordinary least squares regression is used, together with Shapley value regression and another model based on solving some system of differential equations. Prior to this study, critical realignment theory, which presupposes eras of substantial and sustained swings in American political party dominance, had only been evaluated using the classical, frequentist approach to modeling. However, potential for more information concerning these electoral phenomena exists given a shift in the design and approach to realigning elections.
