Jones Polynomial For Graphs Of Twist Knots, Abdulgani Şahin, Bünyamin Şahin

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

We frequently encounter knots in the flow of our daily life. Either we knot a tie or we tie a knot on our shoes. We can even see a fisherman knotting the rope of his boat. Of course, the knot as a mathematical model is not that simple. These are the reflections of knots embedded in threedimensional space in our daily lives. In fact, the studies on knots are meant to create a complete classification of them. This has been achieved for a large number of knots today. But we cannot say that it has been terminated yet. There are …

On Nearly Kähler Finsler Spaces, Z. Didehkhani, B. Najafi, N. Heidari

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

Ichijy¯o introduced (a; b; J)-manifolds as a special class of generalized Randers manifolds. We introduce generalized (a; b; J)-manifolds. A partial negative answer to Ichijy¯o’s open problem on nearly Kähler Finsler manifolds is given. The condition under which generalized (a; b; J)- manifolds are Berwaldian is obtained. Finally, we prove that under a mild assumption a nearly Kähler Finsler manifold is Landsbergian.

A Comparison Of Original And Inverse Motion In Minkowski Plane, Kemal Eren, Soley Ersoy

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

In this paper, we investigate the inflection circle, circling-point curve, and center-point curve for the original and inverse motion of Minkowski planes, and we also deal with their degenerate cases individually. For this purpose, we consider the trajectory of origin with respect to the instantaneous invariants of Bottema in Minkowski plane by using hyperbolic numbers. Finally, we give the geometric interpretation of the circling-point and center-point curves by comparing the original and inverse motion in Minkowski planes.

Optimal Inequalities For Submanifolds Of An Indefinite Space Form, Rıfat Güneş, Mehmet Gülbahar, Sadık Keleş, Erol Kılıç

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

Optimal inequalities involving the scalar curvature, the mean curvature vector and the second fundamental form for pseudo Riemannian submanifolds are proved and the equality cases of these inequalities are discussed. These results are studied for submanifolds of various indefinite contact space forms.

On Nonlinear Contractions In New Extended 𝒃-Metric Spaces, Hassen Aydi, Abdelbasset Felhi, Tayyab Kamran, Erdal Karapınar, Muhammad U. Ali

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

Very recently, the notion of extended 𝑏-metric spaces was introduced by replacing the modified triangle inequality with a functional triangle inequality and the analog of the renowned Banach fixed point theorem was proved in this new structure. In this paper, continuing in this direction, we further refine the functional inequality and establish some fixed point results for nonlinear contractive mappings in the new setting. A nontrivial example for the new extended 𝑏-metric space is given.

Differential Invariants Of Non-Degenerate Surfaces, Yasemin Sağıroğlu, Djavvat Khadjiev, Uğur Gözütok

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

This paper aims to prove that the set {g_{ij}(x), L_{ij} (x), i, j = 1, 2} is a complete system of the SM(3)- invariants of a nondegenerate surface in R3, where {g_{ij}(x)} and {L_{ij}(x)}, 1, j = 1, 2 are the sets of all coefficients of the first and second fundamental forms of a surface x in R3. A similar result was obtained for the group M(3).

Two Dimensional Kinematic Surface In Lorentz-Minkowski 5-Space With Constant Scalar Curvature, E. M. Solouma

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

In this paper we analyzed the problem of investigating locally the scalar curvature of the two dimensional kinematic surfaces foliated by the homothetic motion of an eight curve in Lorentz-Minkowski 5-space Ls. We express the scalar curvature of the corresponding two dimensional kinematic surfaces as the quotient of hyperbolic functions {sinh mv, cosh mv }. From that point, we derive the necessary and sufficient conditions that the coefficients of hyperbolic functions vanished identically. Additionally, an example is given to show two dimensional kinematic surfaces with constant scalar curvature.

Distal Fuzzy Dynamical Systems, Y. Sayyari, M. R. Molaei Jun 2012

Distal Fuzzy Dynamical Systems, Y. Sayyari, M. R. Molaei

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

In this paper the t-distal notion is extended for fuzzy dynamical systems on fuzzy metric spaces. A method for constructing fuzzy metric spaces is studied. The product of t-distal fuzzy dynamical systems is considered. It is proved that: a product of fuzzy dynamical systems is t- distal if and only if its components are t-distal. The persistence of the t-distal property up to a fuzzy factor map is proved.

A New Algorithm For Solving Shortest Path Problem On A Network With Imprecise Edge Weight, Amit Kumar, Manjot Kumar

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

Nayeem and Pal (Shortest path problem on a network with imprecise edge weight, Fuzzy Optimization and Decision Making 4, 293-312, 2005) proposed a new algorithm for solving shortest path problem on a network with imprecise edge weight. In this paper the shortcomings of the existing algorithm, (Nayeem and Pal, 2005) are pointed out and to overcome these shortcomings a new algorithm is proposed. To show the advantages of the proposed algorithm over existing algorithm the numerical examples presented in (Nayeem and Pal, 2005) are solved using the proposed algorithm and obtained results are discussed.

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

The equations of two dimensional incompressible steady micro-polar fluid flows through a porous medium are studied. Lie group analysis is employed and the solutions corresponding to the translational symmetry are developed. A boundary value problem is investigated and the results are sketched graphically. The effect on the flow of the porosity coefficient of the porous medium and the micro-polar parameters are observed.

An Analytical Technique For Solving Nonlinear Heat Transfer Equations, Hossein Aminikhah, Milad Hemmatnezhad

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

In this paper, an analytic technique, namely the New Homotopy Perturbation Method (NHPM) is applied for solving the nonlinear differential equations arising in the field of heat transfer. In this method, the solution is considered as an infinite series expansion where converges rapidly to the exact solution. The nonlinear convective–radioactive cooling equation and nonlinear equation of conduction heat transfer with the variable physical properties are chosen as illustrative examples and the exact solutions have been found for each case.

Wavelet Transform Of Fractional Integrals For Integrable Boehmians, Deshna Loonker, P. K. Banerji, S. L. Kalla

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

The present paper deals with the wavelet transform of fractional integral operator (the Riemann- Liouville operators) on Boehmian spaces. By virtue of the existing relation between the wavelet transform and the Fourier transform, we obtained integrable Boehmians defined on the Boehmian space for the wavelet transform of fractional integrals.
