The Cohomology Of The Steendrod Algebra And Representations Of The General Linear Groups, Nguyen H. V. Hu'ng

Let Tr_k be the algebraic transfer that maps from the coinvariants of certain GL_k-representation to the cohomology of the Steenrod algebra. This transfer was defined by W. Singer as an algebraic version of the geometrical transfer tr_k : pi_*^S((B[doublestrike V]_k)_+) --> pi_*^S(S^0). It has been shown that the algebraic transfer is highly nontrivial, more precisely, that Tr_k is an isomorphism for k = 1, 2, 3 and that T_r = ⊕_k(Tr_k) is a homomorphism of algebras.

Abstract:
The main goal of this paper is to study robust invariant transitive sets containing singularities for C1 flows on three-dimensional compact boundaryless manifolds:they are partially hyperbolic with volume expanding central direction. Moreover, they are either attractors or repellers. Robust here means that this property cannot be destroyed by small C1-perturbations of the flow.

A digital model of the Newgrange passage tomb and surrounding ring of monoliths known as the Great Circle is used to investigate sunrise shadow casting phenomena at the monument. Diurnal variation in shadow directions and lengths are analysed for their potential use in the Bronze Age to indicate the passage of seasonal time. Computer-aided simulations are developed from a photogrammetric survey to accurately show how three of the largest monoliths, located closest to the tomb entrance and archaeologically coded GC1, GC-1 and GC-2, cast their shadows onto the vertical face of the entrance kerbstone, coded K1. This thesis, presented to the Department of Mathematics at Xavier University in partial fulfillment of requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in 1952, examines the Spieker circle, a circle inscribed in the median triangle of a given triangle, and extends its defining properties to related geometric configurations. Lumzy first establishes a series of analogies between the Spieker circle and the nine-point circle, demonstrating parallel relationships involving radius, center, harmonic conjugates, and homothetic centers relative to the incenter, median point, and Nagel point of a triangle.
