The Isoperimetric Inequality has many different proofs using methods from diverse mathematical fields. In the paper, two methods to prove this inequality will be shown and compared. First the 2-dimensional case will be proven by tools of elementary differential geometry and Fourier analysis. Afterwards the theory of convex geometry will briefly be introduced and will be used to prove the Brunn--Minkowski-Inequality. Using this inequality, the Isoperimetric Inquality in n dimensions will be shown.

This project is designed for a multicalculus class already familiar with computing the arc length of a parameterized curve in space. The activity asks the student to first recall basic facts about arc length, and then introduces the notion of measuring lengths of vectors differently, depending on where their initial point is. This is a foundational concept in metric differential geometry, and, this activity attempts to motivate this generalization of computing lengths of vectors through this arc length activity. Spectral graph theory, which is the use of eigenvalues of matrices associated with graphs, is a modern technique that has expanded our understanding of graphs and their structure. A particularly useful tool in spectral graph theory is the Expander Mixing Lemma, also known as the discrepancy inequality, which bounds the edge distribution between two sets based on the spectral gap. More specifically, it states that a small spectral gap of a graph implies that the edge distribution is close to random. We present a mathematical analysis of the transmission of certain diseases using a stochastic susceptible-exposed-infectious-treated-recovered (SEITR) model with multiple stages of infection and treatment and explore the effects of treatments and external fluctuations in the transmission, treatment and recovery rates. We assume external fluctuations are caused by variability in the number of contacts between infected and susceptible individuals. It is shown that the expected number of secondary infections produced (in the absence of noise) reduces as treatment is introduced into the population. Data and algorithmic modeling are two different approaches used in predictive analytics. The models discussed from these two approaches include the proportional odds logit model (POLR), the vector generalized linear model (VGLM), the classification and regression tree model (CART), and the random forests model (RF). Patterns in the data were analyzed using trigonometric polynomial approximations and Fast Fourier Transforms. Predictive modeling is used frequently in statistics and data science to find the relationship between the explanatory (input) variables and a response (output) variable. We discuss two models from the study of disordered quantum systems. The first is the Random Band Matrix with a fixed band width and Gaussian or more general disorder. The second is the Wegner $n$-orbital model. We establish that the point process constructed from the eigenvalues of finite size matrices converge to a Poisson Point Process in the limit as the matrix size goes to infinity.
The proof is based on the method of Minami for the Anderson tight-binding model. As a first step, we expand upon the localization results by Schenker and Peled-Schenker-Shamis-Sodin to account for complex energies. We …

In the early 1980's, Kodama, Ablowitz and Satsuma, together with Santini, Ablowitz and Fokas, developed the formal inverse scattering theory of the Intermediate Long Wave (ILW) equation and explored its connections with the Benjamin-Ono (BO) and KdV equations. The ILW equation\begin{align*} u_t + \frac{1}{\delta} u_x + 2 u u_x + Tu_{xx} = 0, \end{align*} models the behavior of long internal gravitational waves in stratified fluids of depth $0< \delta < \infty$, where $T$ is a singular operator which depends on the depth $\delta$. In the limit $\delta \to 0$, the ILW reduces to the Korteweg de Vries (KdV) equation, and in the limit $\delta \to \infty$, the ILW (at least formally) reduces to the Benjamin-Ono (BO) equation.
While the KdV equation is very well understood, a rigorous analysis of inverse scattering for the ILW equation remains to be accomplished. There is currently no rigorous proof that the Inverse Scattering …

Neutrosophic theory has representatives on all continents and, therefore, it can be said to be a universal theory. The class of holomorphic self-mappings of the open unit disk (which are contractions with respect to the Poincaré metric) admits a natural extension to the class of holomorphic pseudo-contractions. In this paper, we study various inequalities involving the values of derivatives of holomorphic pseudo-contractions at fixed points (particularly, at the Denjoy–Wolff fixed point).

This text explores elementary analysis through the lens of non-standard analysis. The hyperreals will be proven to be implied by the existence of the reals via the axiom of choice. The notion of a hyperextension will be defined, and the so-called Transfer Principle will be proved. This principle establishes equivalence between results in real and hyperreal analysis. Sequences, subsequences, and limit suprema/infima will then be explored. Finally, integration will be considered.

As expected, the demand for a fresh product depends on how fresh it is, therefore, it is important to take expiration date into consideration. Based on marketing and economic theory, several factors such as price, inventory level and advertisement play a crucial role in influencing the demand. Hence, we study the effect of these factors in influencing the demand in the inventory model. Since the demand for perishable product declines over time, markdown policy is offered to increase the demand and profit while reducing the inventory. In biology, minimizing a free energy functional gives an equilibrium shape that is the most stable in nature. The formulation of these functionals can vary in many ways, in particular they can have either a smooth or sharp interface. Minimizing a functional can be done through variational calculus or can be proved to exist using various analysis techniques.
