Algebraic Structures Using Natural Class Of Intervals, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy
Algebraic Structures Using Natural Class Of Intervals, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy
Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications
Authors in this book introduce a new class of intervals called the natural class of intervals, also known as the special class of intervals or as natural intervals. These intervals are built using increasing intervals, decreasing intervals and degenerate intervals. We say an interval [a, b] is an increasing interval if a < b for any a, b in the field of reals R. An interval [a, b] is a decreasing interval if a > b and the interval [a, b] is a degenerate interval if a = b for a, b in the field of reals R. The natural class of intervals consists of the collection of increasing intervals, decreasing intervals and the degenerate intervals. Clearly R is contained in the natural …
Interval Semirings, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy
Interval Semirings, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy
Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications
In this book the notion of interval semirings are introduced. The authors study and analyse semirings algebraically. Methods are given for the construction of non-associative semirings using loops and interval semirings or interval loops and semirings. Another type of non-associative semirings are introduced using groupoids and interval semirings or interval groupoids and semirings. Examples using integers and modulo integers are given. Also infinite semirings which are semifields are given using interval semigroups and semirings or semigroups and interval semirings or using groups and interval semirings. Interval groups are introduced to construct interval group interval semirings, and properties related with them …
A Class Of Gaussian Processes With Fractional Spectral Measures, Daniel Alpay, Palle Jorgensen, David Levanony
A Class Of Gaussian Processes With Fractional Spectral Measures, Daniel Alpay, Palle Jorgensen, David Levanony
Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
We study a family of stationary increment Gaussian processes, indexed by time. These processes are determined by certain measures σ (generalized spectral measures), and our focus here is on the case when the measure σ is a singular measure. We characterize the processes arising from when σ is in one of the classes of affine self-similar measures. Our analysis makes use of Kondratiev-white noise spaces. With the use of a priori estimates and the Wick calculus, we extend and sharpen (see Theorem 7.1) earlier computations of Ito stochastic integration developed for the special case of stationary increment processes having absolutely …

Many hard combinatorial problems can be modeled by a system of polynomial equations. N. Alon coined the term polynomial method to describe the use of nonlinear polynomials when solving combinatorial problems. We continue the exploration of the polynomial method and show how the algorithmic theory of polynomial ideals can be used to detect k-colorability, unique Hamiltonicity, and automorphism rigidity of graphs. Our techniques are diverse and involve Nullstellensatz certificates, linear algebra over finite fields, Gröbner bases, toric algebra, convex programming, and real algebraic geometry.
Krein Systems And Canonical Systems On A Finite Interval: Accelerants With A Jump Discontinuity At The Origin And Continuous Potentials, Daniel Alpay, I. Gohberg, M. A. Kaashoek, L. Lerer, A. Sakhnovich
Krein Systems And Canonical Systems On A Finite Interval: Accelerants With A Jump Discontinuity At The Origin And Continuous Potentials, Daniel Alpay, I. Gohberg, M. A. Kaashoek, L. Lerer, A. Sakhnovich
Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
This paper is devoted to connections between accelerants and potentials of Krein systems and of canonical systems of Dirac type, both on a finite interval. It is shown that a continuous potential is always generated by an accelerant, provided the latter is continuous with a possible jump discontinuity at the origin. Moreover, the generating accelerant is uniquely determined by the potential. The results are illustrated on pseudo-exponential potentials. The paper is a continuation of the earlier paper of the authors [1] dealing with the direct problem for Krein systems.
Interval Linear Algebra, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy
Interval Linear Algebra, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy
Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications
This Interval arithmetic or interval mathematics developed in 1950’s and 1960’s by mathematicians as an approach to putting bounds on rounding errors and measurement error in mathematical computations. However no proper interval algebraic structures have been defined or studies. In this book we for the first time introduce several types of interval linear algebras and study them. This structure has become indispensable for these concepts will find applications in numerical optimization and validation of structural designs. In this book we use only special types of intervals and introduce the notion of different types of interval linear algebras and interval vector …
Rank Distance Bicodes And Their Generalization, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, N. Suresh Babu, R.S. Selvaraj
Rank Distance Bicodes And Their Generalization, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, N. Suresh Babu, R.S. Selvaraj
Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications
In this book the authors introduce the new notion of rank distance bicodes and generalize this concept to Rank Distance n-codes (RD n-codes), n, greater than or equal to three. This definition leads to several classes of new RD bicodes like semi circulant rank bicodes of type I and II, semicyclic circulant rank bicode, circulant rank bicodes, bidivisible bicode and so on. It is important to mention that these new classes of codes will not only multitask simultaneously but also they will be best suited to the present computerised era. Apart from this, these codes are best suited in cryptography. …

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
Using the white noise space framework, we define a class of stochastic processes which include as a particular case the fractional Brownian motion and its derivative. The covariance functions of these processes are of a special form, studied by Schoenberg, von Neumann and Krein.

Discrete-Time Multi-Scale Systems, Daniel Alpay, Mamadou Mboup
Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
We introduce multi-scale filtering by the way of certain double convolution systems. We prove stability theorems for these systems and make connections with function theory in the poly-disc. Finally, we compare the framework developed here with the white noise space framework, within which a similar class of double convolution systems has been defined earlier.
Linear Stochastic State Space Theory In The White Noise Space Setting, Daniel Alpay, David Levanony, Ariel Pinhas
Linear Stochastic State Space Theory In The White Noise Space Setting, Daniel Alpay, David Levanony, Ariel Pinhas
Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
We study state space equations within the white noise space setting. A commutative ring of power series in a countable number of variables plays an important role. Transfer functions are rational functions with coefficients in this commutative ring, and are characterized in a number of ways. A major feature in our approach is the observation that key characteristics of a linear, time invariant, stochastic system are determined by the corresponding characteristics associated with the deterministic part of the system, namely its average behavior.
Linear Stochastic Systems: A White Noise Approach, Daniel Alpay, David Levanony
Linear Stochastic Systems: A White Noise Approach, Daniel Alpay, David Levanony
Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
Using the white noise setting, in particular the Wick product, the Hermite transform, and the Kondratiev space, we present a new approach to study linear stochastic systems, where randomness is also included in the transfer function. We prove BIBO type stability theorems for these systems, both in the discrete and continuous time cases. We also consider the case of dissipative systems for both discrete and continuous time systems. We further study ℓ1-ℓ2 stability in the discrete time case, and L2-L∞ stability in the continuous time case.
Discrete Logarithm Over Composite Moduli, Marcus L. Mace
Discrete Logarithm Over Composite Moduli, Marcus L. Mace
Mathematical Sciences Technical Reports (MSTR)
In an age of digital information, security is of utmost importance. Many encryption schemes, such as the Diffie-Hellman Key Agreement and RSA Cryptosystem, use a function which maps x to y by a modular power map with generator g. The inverse of this function - trying to find x from y - is called the discrete logarithm problem. In most cases, n is a prime number. In some cases, however, n may be a composite number. In particular, we will look at when n = p^b for a prime p. We will show different techniques of obtaining graphs of this …

Structural Properties Of Power Digraphs Modulo N, Joseph Kramer-Miller
Mathematical Sciences Technical Reports (MSTR)
We define G(n, k) to be a directed graph whose set of vertices is {0, 1, ..., n−1} and whose set of edges is defined by a modular relation. We say that G(n, k) is symmetric of order m if we can partition G(n, k) into subgraphs, each containing m components, such that all the components in a subgraph are isomorphic. We develop necessary and sufficient conditions for G(n, k) to contain symmetry when n is odd and square-free. Additionally, we use group theory to describe the structural properties of the subgraph of G(n, k) containing only those vertices relatively …

Superbimatrices And Their Generalizations, Florentin Smarandache, W.B Vasantha Kandasamy
Superbimatrices And Their Generalizations, Florentin Smarandache, W.B Vasantha Kandasamy
Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications
The systematic study of supermatrices and super linear algebra has been carried out in 2008. These new algebraic structures find their applications in fuzzy models, Leontief economic models and data-storage in computers. In this book the authors introduce the new notion of superbimatrices and generalize it to super trimatrices and super n-matrices. Study of these structures is not only interesting and innovative but is also best suited for the computerized world. The main difference between simple bimatrices and super bimatrices is that in case of simple bimatrices we have only one type of product defined on them, whereas in case …

Generalized Q-Functions And Dirichlet-To-Neumann Maps For Elliptic Differential Operators, Daniel Alpay, Jussi Behrndt
Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
The classical concept of Q-functions associated to symmetric and selfadjoint operators due to M.G. Krein and H. Langer is extended in such a way that the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map in the theory of elliptic differential equations can be interpreted as a generalized Q-function. For couplings of uniformly elliptic second order differential expression on bounded and unbounded domains explicit Krein type formulas for the difference of the resolvents and trace formulas in an H2-framework are obtained.

The Schur Transformation For Nevanlinna Functions: Operator Representations, Resolvent Matrices, And Orthogonal Polynomials, Daniel Alpay, A. Dijksma, H. Langer
Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
A Nevanlinna function is a function which is analytic in the open upper half plane and has a non-negative imaginary part there. In this paper we study a fractional linear transformation for a Nevanlinna function n with a suitable asymptotic expansion at ∞, that is an analogue of the Schur transformation for contractive analytic functions in the unit disc. Applying the transformation p times we find a Nevanlinna function np which is a fractional linear transformation of the given function n. The main results concern the effect of this transformation to the realizations of n and np, by which we …

In the present paper we extend results of M.G. Krein associated to the spectral problem for Krein systems to systems with matrix valued accelerants with a possible jump discontinuity at the origin. Explicit formulas for the accelerant are given in terms of the matrizant of the system in question. Recent developments in the theory of continuous analogs of the resultant operator play an essential role.

With the advent of computers one needs algebraic structures that can simultaneously work with bulk data. One such algebraic structure namely n-linear algebras of type I are introduced in this book and its applications to n-Markov chains and n-Leontief models are given. These structures can be thought of as the generalization of bilinear algebras and bivector spaces. Several interesting n-linear algebra properties are proved. This book has four chapters. The first chapter just introduces n-group which is essential for the definition of nvector spaces and n-linear algebras of type I. Chapter two gives the notion of n-vector spaces and several …

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
We present decompositions of various positive kernels as integrals or sums of positive kernels. Within this framework we study the reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces associated with the fractional and bi-fractional Brownian motions. As a tool, we define a new function of two complex variables, which is a natural generalization of the classical Gamma function for the setting we consider.

Fuzzy Interval Matrices, Neutrosophic Interval Matrices And Their Applications, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy
Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications
The new concept of fuzzy interval matrices has been introduced in this book for the first time. The authors have not only introduced the notion of fuzzy interval matrices, interval neutrosophic matrices and fuzzy neutrosophic interval matrices but have also demonstrated some of its applications when the data under study is an unsupervised one and when several experts analyze the problem. Further, the authors have introduced in this book multiexpert models using these three new types of interval matrices. The new multi expert models dealt in this book are FCIMs, FRIMs, FCInMs, FRInMs, IBAMs, IBBAMs, nIBAMs, FAIMs, FAnIMS, etc. Illustrative …

Matrix-J-Unitary Non-Commutative Rational Formal Power Series, Daniel Alpay, D. S. Kalyuzhnyi-Verbovetzkii
Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
Formal power series in N non-commuting indeterminates can be considered as a counterpart of functions of one variable holomorphic at 0, and some of their properties are described in terms of coefficients. However, really fruitful analysis begins when one considers for them evaluations on N-tuples of n × n matrices (with n = 1, 2, . . .) or operators on an infinite-dimensional separable Hilbert space. Moreover, such evaluations appear in control, optimization and stabilization problems of modern system engineering.
In this paper, a theory of realization and minimal factorization of rational matrix-valued functions which are J-unitary on the imaginary …
On The Action Of Weight-Preserving Sets, Matthew Badger
On The Action Of Weight-Preserving Sets, Matthew Badger
Mathematical Sciences Technical Reports (MSTR)
We introduce weight-preserving sets of binary words. Any transformation that respects the row and column weights of a 0-1 matrix can be decomposed as a composition of two types of action on the matrix. We conjecture that weight-preserving sets perform only one type of action, permutations of rows and columns; i.e., weight-preserving sets are cwatsets.

In contrast to Lagrange's Theorem in Finite Group Theory, we show that the ratio of the largest proper cwatset of degree d to the size of binary d-space approaches 1 as d approaches infinity. We show how to explicitly construct large cwatsets as cosets of Hamming Codes, and discuss many open questions that arise.

Matrix theory has been one of the most utilised concepts in fuzzy models and neutrosophic models. From solving equations to characterising linear transformations or linear operators, matrices are used. Matrices find their applications in several real models. In fact it is not an exaggeration if one says that matrix theory and linear algebra (i.e. vector spaces) form an inseparable component of each other. The study of bialgebraic structures led to the invention of new notions like birings, Smarandache birings, bivector spaces, linear bialgebra, bigroupoids, bisemigroups, etc. But most of these are abstract algebraic concepts except, the bisemigroup being used in …

The algebraic structure, linear algebra happens to be one of the subjects which yields itself to applications to several fields like coding or communication theory, Markov chains, representation of groups and graphs, Leontief economic models and so on. This book has for the first time, introduced a new algebraic structure called linear bialgebra, which is also a very powerful algebraic tool that can yield itself to applications. With the recent introduction of bimatrices (2005) we have ventured in this book to introduce new concepts like linear bialgebra and Smarandache neutrosophic linear bialgebra and also give the applications of these algebraic …
