Special Pseudo Linear Algebras Using [0,N), Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy Jan 2014

Special Pseudo Linear Algebras Using [0,N), Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

In this book we introduce some special type of linear algebras called pseudo special linear algebras using the interval [0, n). These new types of special pseudo interval linear algebras has several interesting properties. Special pseudo interval linear algebras are built over the subfields in Zn where Zn is a S-ring. We study the substructures of them. The notion of Smarandache special interval pseudo linear algebras and Smarandache strong special pseudo interval linear algebras are introduced. The former Sspecial interval pseudo linear algebras are built over the Sring itself. Study in this direction has yielded several interesting results. S-strong special …

Groupoids Of Type I And Ii Using [0, N), Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy Jan 2014

Groupoids Of Type I And Ii Using [0, N), Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

Study of algebraic structures built using [0, n) happens to be one of an interesting and innovative research. Here in this book authors define non associative algebraic structures using the interval [0, n). Here we define two types of groupoids using [0, n) both of them are of infinite order. It is an open conjecture to find whether these new class of groupoids satisfy any of the special identities like Moufang identity or Bol identity or Bruck identity or so on. We know on [0, n) we cannot build rings only pseudo rings, however in this book we use these …

Soft Neutrosophic Algebraic Structures And Their Generalization - Vol. 1, Florentin Smarandache, Mumtaz Ali, Muhammad Shabir Jan 2014

Soft Neutrosophic Algebraic Structures And Their Generalization - Vol. 1, Florentin Smarandache, Mumtaz Ali, Muhammad Shabir

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

In this book the authors introduced the notions of soft neutrosophic algebraic structures. These soft neutrosophic algebraic structures are basically defined over the neutrosophic algebraic structures which means a parameterized collection of subsets of the neutrosophic algebraic structure. For instance, the existence of a soft neutrosophic group over a neutrosophic group or a soft neutrosophic semigroup over a neutrosophic semigroup, or a soft neutrosophic field over a neutrosophic field, or a soft neutrosophic LA-semigroup over a neutrosophic LAsemigroup, or a soft neutosophic loop over a neutrosophic loop. It is interesting to note that these notions are defined over finite and …

Pseudo Lattice Graphs And Their Applications To Fuzzy And Neutrosophic Models, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, K. Ilanthenral Jan 2014

Pseudo Lattice Graphs And Their Applications To Fuzzy And Neutrosophic Models, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, K. Ilanthenral

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

In this book for the first time authors introduce the concept of merged lattice, which gives a lattice or a graph. The resultant lattice or graph is defined as the pseudo lattice graph of type I. Here we also merge a graph with a lattice or two or more graphs which call as the pseudo lattice graph of type II. We merge either edges or vertices or both of a lattice and a graph or a lattice and a lattice or graph with itself. Such study is innovative and these mergings are adopted on all fuzzy and neutrosophic models which …

Distance In Matrices And Their Applications To Fuzzy Models And Neutrosophic Models, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, K. Ilanthenral Jan 2014

Distance In Matrices And Their Applications To Fuzzy Models And Neutrosophic Models, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, K. Ilanthenral

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

In this book authors for the first time introduce the notion of distance between any two m  n matrices. If the distance is 0 or m  n there is nothing interesting. When the distance happens to be a value t; 0 < t < m  n the study is both innovating and interesting. The three cases of study which is carried out in this book are 1. If the difference between two square matrices is large, will it imply the eigen values and eigen vectors of those matrices are distinct? Several open conjectures in this direction are given. 2. The difference between parity check matrix and the generator matrix for the same C(n, k) code is studied. This will help in detecting errors in storage systems as well as in cryptography.

Interpolation By Polynomials With Symmetries, Daniel Alpay, Izchak Lewkowicz Jan 2014

Interpolation By Polynomials With Symmetries, Daniel Alpay, Izchak Lewkowicz

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

We here specialize the standard matrix-valued polynomial interpolation to the case where on the imaginary axis the interpolating polynomials admit various symmetries: Positive semidefinite, Skew-Hermitian, J- Hermitian, Hamiltonian and others.

The procedure is comprized of three stages, illustrated through the case where on $i\R$ the interpolating polynomials are to be positive semidefinite. We first, on the expense of doubling the degree, obtain a minimal degree interpolating polynomial P(s) which on $i\R$ is Hermitian. Then we find all polynomials Ψ(s), vanishing at the interpolation points which are positive semidefinite on $i\R$. Finally, using the fact that the set of positive semidefinite …

Krein-Langer Factorization And Related Topics In The Slice Hyperholomorphic Setting, Daniel Alpay, Fabrizio Colombo, Irene Sabadini Jan 2014

Krein-Langer Factorization And Related Topics In The Slice Hyperholomorphic Setting, Daniel Alpay, Fabrizio Colombo, Irene Sabadini

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

We study various aspects of Schur analysis in the slice hyperholomorphic setting. We present two sets of results: first, we give new results on the functional calculus for slice hyperholomorphic functions. In particular, we introduce and study some properties of the Riesz projectors. Then we prove a Beurling-Lax type theorem, the so-called structure theorem. A crucial fact which allows to prove our results, is the fact that the right spectrum of a quaternionic linear operator and the point S-spectrum coincide. Finally, we study the Krein-Langer factorization for slice hyperholomorphic generalized Schur functions. Both the Beurling-Lax type theorem and the Krein-Langer …

Set Theoretic Approach To Algebraic Structures In Mathematics - A Revelation, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy Jan 2013

Set Theoretic Approach To Algebraic Structures In Mathematics - A Revelation, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

In this book authors bring out how sets in algebraic structure can be used to construct most generalized algebraic structures, like set linear algebra/vector space, set ideals in rings and semigroups. This sort of study is not only innovative but infact very helpful in cases instead of working with a large data we can work with a considerably small data. Thus instead of working with a vector space or a linear algebra V over a field F we can work with a subset in V and a needed subset in F, this can save both time and economy. The concept …

Convex Cones Of Generalized Positive Rational Functions And Nevanlinna-Pick Interpolation, Daniel Alpay, Izchak Lewkowicz Jan 2013

Convex Cones Of Generalized Positive Rational Functions And Nevanlinna-Pick Interpolation, Daniel Alpay, Izchak Lewkowicz

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

Scalar rational functions with a non-negative real part on the right half plane, called positive, are classical in the study of electrical networks, dissipative systems, Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation and other areas. We here study generalized positive functions, i.e with a non-negative real part on the imaginary axis. These functions form a Convex Invertible Cone, cic in short, and we explore two partitionings of this set: (i) into (infinitely many non-invertible) convex cones of functions with prescribed poles and zeroes in the right half plane and (ii) each generalized positive function can be written as a sum of even and odd parts. …

Topological Convolution Algebras, Daniel Alpay, Guy Salomon Jan 2013

Topological Convolution Algebras, Daniel Alpay, Guy Salomon

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

In this paper we introduce a new family of topological convolution algebras of the form ⋃p∈NL2(S,μp), where S is a Borel semi-group in a locally compact group G, which carries an inequality of the type ∥f∗g∥p≤Ap,q∥f∥q∥g∥p for p>q+d where d pre-assigned, and Ap,q is a constant. We give a sufficient condition on the measures μp for such an inequality to hold. We study the functional calculus and the spectrum of the elements of these algebras, and present two examples, one in the setting of non commutative stochastic distributions, and the other related to Dirichlet series.

On Discrete Analytic Functions: Products, Rational Functions, And Reproducing Kernels, Daniel Alpay, Palle Jorgensen, Ron Seager, Dan Volok Jan 2013

On Discrete Analytic Functions: Products, Rational Functions, And Reproducing Kernels, Daniel Alpay, Palle Jorgensen, Ron Seager, Dan Volok

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

We introduce a family of discrete analytic functions, called expandable discrete analytic functions, which includes discrete analytic polynomials, and define two products in this family. The first one is defined in a way similar to the Cauchy-Kovalevskaya product of hyperholomorphic functions, and allows us to define rational discrete analytic functions. To define the second product we need a new space of entire functions which is contractively included in the Fock space. We study in this space some counterparts of Schur analysis.

Pontryagin De Branges-Rovnyak Spaces Of Slice Hyperholomorphic Functions, Daniel Alpay, Fabrizio Colombo, Irene Sabadini Jan 2013

Pontryagin De Branges-Rovnyak Spaces Of Slice Hyperholomorphic Functions, Daniel Alpay, Fabrizio Colombo, Irene Sabadini

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

We study reproducing kernel Hilbert and Pontryagin spaces of slice hyperholomorphic functions which are analogs of the Hilbert spaces of analytic functions introduced by de Branges and Rovnyak. In the first part of the paper we focus on the case of Hilbert spaces, and introduce in particular a version of the Hardy space. Then we define Blaschke factors and Blaschke products and we consider an interpolation problem. In the second part of the paper we turn to the case of Pontryagin spaces. We first prove some results from the theory of Pontryagin spaces in the quaternionic setting and, in particular, …

A Generalized White Noise Space Approach To Stochastic Integration For A Class Of Gaussian Stationary Increment Processes, Daniel Alpay, Alon Kipnis Jan 2013

A Generalized White Noise Space Approach To Stochastic Integration For A Class Of Gaussian Stationary Increment Processes, Daniel Alpay, Alon Kipnis

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

Given a Gaussian stationary increment processes, we show that a Skorokhod-Hitsuda stochastic integral with respect to this process, which obeys the Wick-Itô calculus rules, can be naturally defined using ideas taken from Hida’s white noise space theory. We use the Bochner-Minlos theorem to associate a probability space to the process, and define the counterpart of the S-transform in this space. We then use this transform to define the stochastic integral and prove an associated Itô formula.

Non-Commutative Stochastic Distributions And Applications To Linear Systems Theory, Daniel Alpay, Guy Salomon Jan 2013

Non-Commutative Stochastic Distributions And Applications To Linear Systems Theory, Daniel Alpay, Guy Salomon

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

In this paper, we introduce a non-commutative space of stochastic distributions, which contains the non-commutative white noise space, and forms, together with a natural multiplication, a topological algebra. Special inequalities which hold in this space allow to characterize its invertible elements and to develop an appropriate framework of non-commutative stochastic linear systems.

Representation Formulas For Hardy Space Functions Through The Cuntz Relations And New Interpolation Problems, Daniel Alpay, Palle Jorgensen, Izchak Lewkowicz, Itzik Marziano Jan 2013

Representation Formulas For Hardy Space Functions Through The Cuntz Relations And New Interpolation Problems, Daniel Alpay, Palle Jorgensen, Izchak Lewkowicz, Itzik Marziano

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

We introduce connections between the Cuntz relations and the Hardy space H2 of the open unit disk D. We then use them to solve a new kind of multipoint interpolation problem in H2, where for instance, only a linear combination of the values of a function at given points is preassigned, rather than the values at the points themselves.

The Rook-Brauer Algebra, Elise G. Delmas May 2012

The Rook-Brauer Algebra, Elise G. Delmas

Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science Honors Projects

We introduce an associative algebra RBk(x) that has a basis of rook-Brauer diagrams. These diagrams correspond to partial matchings on 2k vertices. The rook-Brauer algebra contains the group algebra of the symmetric group, the Brauer algebra, and the rook monoid algebra as subalgebras. We show that the basis of RBk(x) is generated by special diagrams si, ti (1 <= i < k) and pj (1 <= j <= k), where the si are the simple transpositions that generated the symmetric group Sk, the ti are the "contraction maps" which generate the …

Schur Functions And Their Realizations In The Slice Hyperholomorphic Setting, Daniel Alpay, Fabrizio Colombo, Irene Sabadini Jan 2012

Schur Functions And Their Realizations In The Slice Hyperholomorphic Setting, Daniel Alpay, Fabrizio Colombo, Irene Sabadini

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

In this paper we start the study of Schur analysis in the quaternionic setting using the theory of slice hyperholomorphic functions. The novelty of our approach is that slice hyperholomorphic functions allows to write realizations in terms of a suitable resolvent, the so called S-resolvent operator and to extend several results that hold in the complex case to the quaternionic case. We discuss reproducing kernels, positive definite functions in this setting and we show how they can be obtained in our setting using the extension operator and the slice regular product. We define Schur multipliers, and find their co-isometric realization …

On The Class Rsi Of J-Contractive Functions Intertwining Solutions Of Linear Differential Equations, Daniel Alpay, Andrey Melnikov, Victor Vinnikov Jan 2012

On The Class Rsi Of J-Contractive Functions Intertwining Solutions Of Linear Differential Equations, Daniel Alpay, Andrey Melnikov, Victor Vinnikov

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

In this paper we extend and solve in the class of functions RSI mentioned in the title, a number of problems originally set for the class RS of rational functions contractive in the open right-half plane, and unitary on the imaginary line with respect to some preassigned self-adjoint matrix. The problems we consider include the Schur algorithm, the partial realization problem and the Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem. The arguments rely on the one-to-one correspondence between elements in a given subclass of RSI and elements in RS. Another important tool in the arguments is a new result pertaining to the classical tangential …

New Topological C-Algebras With Applications In Linear Systems Theory, Daniel Alpay, Guy Salomon Jan 2012

New Topological C-Algebras With Applications In Linear Systems Theory, Daniel Alpay, Guy Salomon

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

Motivated by the Schwartz space of tempered distributions S′ and the Kondratiev space of stochastic distributions S−1 we define a wide family of nuclear spaces which are increasing unions of (duals of) Hilbert spaces H′p,p∈N, with decreasing norms |⋅|p. The elements of these spaces are functions on a free commutative monoid. We characterize those rings in this family which satisfy an inequality of the form |f∗g|p≤A(p−q)|f|q|g|p for all p≥q+d, where * denotes the convolution in the monoid, A(p−q) is a strictly positive number and d is a fixed natural number (in this case we obtain commutative topological C-algebras). Such an …

Non Associative Linear Algebras, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy Jan 2012

Non Associative Linear Algebras, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

In this book authors for the first time introduce the notion of non associative vector spaces and non associative linear algebras over a field. We construct non associative space using loops and groupoids over fields. In general in all situations, which we come across to find solutions may not be associative; in such cases we can without any difficulty adopt these non associative vector spaces/linear algebras. Thus this research is a significant one.

This book has six chapters. First chapter is introductory in nature. The new concept of non associative semilinear algebras is introduced in chapter two. This structure is …

Innovative Uses Of Matrices, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, Indra Venkatbabu

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

In this book authors bring out the innovative applications of matrices defined, described and developed by them. Here they do not include the natural product on matrices newly described and defined by them in the book on ‘natural product ×n on matrices’.

This book is organized into seven chapters. The first one is introductory in nature. In the second chapter authors give the unique and new way of analyzing the data which is time dependent. We construct three types of matrices called Average Time Dependent data matrix (ATD matrix), Refined Time Dependent Data matrix (RTD matrix) and Combined Effective Time …

Special Dual Like Numbers And Lattices, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy Jan 2012

Special Dual Like Numbers And Lattices, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

In this book the authors introduce a new type of dual numbers called special dual like numbers. These numbers are constructed using idempotents in the place of nilpotents of order two as new element. That is x = a + bg is a special dual like number where a and b are reals and g is a new element such that g2 =g. The collection of special dual like numbers forms a ring. Further lattices are the rich structures which contributes to special dual like numbers. These special dual like numbers x = a + bg; when a and b …

White Noise Based Stochastic Calculus Associated With A Class Of Gaussian Processes, Daniel Alpay, Haim Attia, David Levanony

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

Using the white noise space setting, we define and study stochastic integrals with respect to a class of stationary increment Gaussian processes. We focus mainly on continuous functions with values in the Kondratiev space of stochastic distributions, where use is made of the topology of nuclear spaces. We also prove an associated Ito formula.

An Interpolation Problem For Functions With Values In A Commutative Ring, Daniel Alpay, Haim Attia Jan 2012

An Interpolation Problem For Functions With Values In A Commutative Ring, Daniel Alpay, Haim Attia

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

It was recently shown that the theory of linear stochastic systems can be viewed as a particular case of the theory of linear systems on a certain commutative ring of power series in a countable number of variables. In the present work we study an interpolation problem in this setting. A key tool is the principle of permanence of algebraic identities.

Stochastic Processes Induced By Singular Operators, Daniel Alpay, Palle Jorgensen Jan 2012

Stochastic Processes Induced By Singular Operators, Daniel Alpay, Palle Jorgensen

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

In this paper we study a general family of multivariable Gaussian stochastic processes. Each process is prescribed by a fixed Borel measure σ on Rn. The case when σ is assumed absolutely continuous with respect to Lebesgue measure was stud- ied earlier in the literature, when n = 1. Our focus here is on showing how different equivalence classes (defined from relative absolute continuity for pairs of measures) translate into concrete spectral decompositions of the corresponding stochastic processes under study. The measures σ we consider are typically purely singular. Our proofs rely on the theory of (singular) unbounded operators in …

The Square Discrete Exponentiation Map, A Wood Jul 2011

The Square Discrete Exponentiation Map, A Wood

Mathematical Sciences Technical Reports (MSTR)

We will examine the square discrete exponentiation map and its properties. The square discrete exponentiation map is a variation on a commonly seen problem in cryptographic algorithms. This paper focuses on understanding the underlying structure of the functional graphs generated by this map. Specifically, this paper focuses on explaining the in-degree of graphs of safe primes, which are primes of the form p = 2q + 1, where q is also prime.

Algebraic Solutions To Overdefined Systems With Applications To Cryptanalysis, Eric Crockett May 2011

Algebraic Solutions To Overdefined Systems With Applications To Cryptanalysis, Eric Crockett

Mathematical Sciences Technical Reports (MSTR)

Cryptographic algorithms are based on a wide variety of difficult problems in mathematics. One of these problems is finding a solution to a system of multivariate quadratic equations (MQ). A generalization of this problem is to find a solution to a system of higher order non-linear equations. Both of these problems are NP-hard over any field. Many cryptosystems such as AES, Serpent, Toyocrypt, and others can be reduced to some form of the MQ problem. In this paper we analyze the relinearization and XL algorithms for solving overdetermined systems of non-linear equations, as well as two variations of the XL …

The Positive Real Lemma And Construction Of All Realizations Of Generalized Positive Rational Functions, Daniel Alpay, Izchak Lewkowicz Jan 2011

The Positive Real Lemma And Construction Of All Realizations Of Generalized Positive Rational Functions, Daniel Alpay, Izchak Lewkowicz

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

We here extend the well known Positive Real Lemma (also known as the Kalman-Yakubovich-Popov Lemma) to complex matrix-valued generalized positive rational function, when non-minimal realizations are considered. All state space realizations are partitioned into subsets, each is identified with a set of matrices satisfying the same Lyapunov inclusion. Thus, each subset forms a convex invertible cone, cic in short, and is in fact is replica of all realizations of positive functions of the same dimensions. We then exploit this result to provide an easy construction procedure of all (not necessarily minimal) state space realizations of generalized positive functions. As a …
