We explore several popular (and unpopular) systems for matchmaking and ranking in free-for-all (FFA) environments. The commonplace existing methods involve the reinterpretation of established two-player ranking systems (ie. Elo/Glicko) and decomposing multiplayer games into a set of multiple one-vs-one pairings. This decomposition, while commonplace, is not part of the intended use-case of these two-player ranking systems. We are the first to formally explore this ad-hoc usage and reassuringly find evidence that it converges to correct values. Computationally expensive applications, including machine learning, chemical simulations, and financial modeling, are promising candidates for noisy intermediate scale quantum (NISQ) computers. In these problems, one important challenge is mapping a quantum circuit onto NISQ hardware while satisfying physical constraints of an underlying quantum architecture. Quantum circuit compilation (QCC) aims to generate feasible mappings such that a quantum circuit can be executed in a given hardware platform with acceptable confidence in outcomes. In this paper, we provide an application that produces consistent in-game estimates of win probabilities in Dota 2. Previous work shows that common methods of identifying the effect of in-game features are strongly inconsistent, which we corroborate here with a large data set. We further provide an in-game application for players to see these estimates during the game as a training tool, along with displaying the estimated marginal impact of the primary actions (kills, last hits, and tower damage), which are previously known only by intuition. Customers’ participation is a critical factor for inte-grating the distributed energy resources via demand response and demand-side management programs, especially when customers become prosumers. Incentives need to be delivered by the energy management service to attract prosumers to operate their distributed energy resources and electricity loads grid-friendly actively. The academic library materials acquisition problem is a challenge for librarian, since library cannot get enough funding from universities and the price of materials inflates greatly. In this paper, we analyze an integer mathematical model by considering the selection of acquired materials to maximize the average preference value as well as the budget execution rate under practical restrictions. The objective is to improve the Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization (DPSO) algorithm by adding a Simulate Annealing algorithm to reduce premature convergence. Furthermore, the algorithm is implemented in multiple threaded environment. The experimental results show the efficiency of this approach.
