The focus of this professional project was to identify the appropriate services for a lightweight project management office (PMO) to implement at a company referred to with the alias Not-For-Profit Organization (NFPO), and then to complete the first phase of this implementation. NFPO had lower project success rates than desired. They wanted to integrate project management practices into their organization in order to be more effective in meeting their mission. Software applications typically allocate and deallocate resources during their lifetime. Resources can be categorized into two broad groups, in-process and out-of-process resources where in-process resources are local resources directly managed by a client, while out-of-process resources are remotely managed by a client which instructs a server to allocate and deallocate the resource on its behalf. System implementations sometimes result in unexpected system behavior. This paper is a case study focusing on an SAP transportation management system implementation that resulted in unexpected system behavior and a different user interface than the one that had been tested. Through a grounded theory approach the case study researched specific data gathered from the project documentation and from interviews with key system developers and a primary business user. This poses several problems such as keeping track of visits. Tracking this information will allow the chaplain to know whom he/she has provided spiritual care. Hospitals and medical centers participate in a physician profiling process. This process is important to ensure that physicians are providing safe care and to comply with regulations. One medical center was struggling with the ongoing generation of physician performance reports that were an important part of the profiling process. A design research project was undertaken to demonstrate that an Access-based data mart could successfully streamline this report generating process.
