Ag Nanoparticles Self-Assembled Films On Iron Surface And Their Inhibition Properties, Zhe Zhang, Ming-Zi Jia, Le Ruan Feb 2012

Ag Nanoparticles Self-Assembled Films On Iron Surface And Their Inhibition Properties, Zhe Zhang, Ming-Zi Jia, Le Ruan

Journal of Electrochemistry

The Ag nanoparticles were prepared in aqueous solutions through a chemical reduction method and transferred from water phase to toluene phase with the protection of 1-dodecanethiol (DDT). The polished iron electrode was immersed in the DDT-protected metal nanoparticles toluene solutions to form DDT/Ag nanoparticles self-assembled mixed films. Electrochemical methods such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and polarization curve measurement were used to study the inhibition properties of the self-assembled films in the 0.5 mol·L-1 H2SO4 solution. The appearance of elements such as S and Ag from the XPS data identified the presences of DDT and Ag nanoparticles.

At current density of 2.0A/g, the discharge capacity of 600 mAh/g was obtained. And when the current density was reduced to 0.1A/g, the discharge capacity was restored to 1050 mAh/g. The nano-NiO electrode exhibited …

Superhydrophilic/Superhydrophobic Surface Constructions On Titanium And Their Effects On Anti-Bacterial Properties, Guo-Wei Wang, Qiao-Ling Huang, Ren Hu, Chang-Jian Lin, Hao Wang, Li-Hai Zhang, Pei-Fu Tang

Journal of Electrochemistry

The microbial infection of biomaterials often causes clinic problems and sometimes even leads to the prosthesis failure. It is, therefore, important to prevent the biomaterials from bacterial contamination. This can be done by using anti-bacteria drugs. However, this method causes physiological burdens to the patients and does not always work. To stop the contamination from the just beginning is believed to be a better choice. The first step for infection is the attachment of bacteria on the material. In this work, the thin TiO2 nanotubes array films were constructed with totally different wettabilities showing either superhydrophobic or superhydrophilic. The …

Besides, electrocatalysis of salicylic acid was studied at Au/GCE. The results showed that, there was a good linear relationship between the oxidation current and the concentration of salicylic acid, and the current sensitivity was 1.8 fold higher than that obtained on GCE. Trace phenolic compounds determination could be …

The K values changed regularly with temperature, and the most suitable temperature of the surface inclusion reaction was 30 ℃. The complexing reaction of ADM with β-CD at the β-CD/Au surface could undergo the quasi-reversible electrochemical reaction with the rate constant being 0.0995 s-1. The cathodic peak current (Ip) of …

The performance of the ADH/PPS-SWCNT/EPPG electrode was evaluated using cyclic voltammetry and amperometry in the presence of ethanol. The fabricated ethanol biosensor provided a reasonable sensitivity of 2.0 μA cm–2 mM–1 and a low detection limit (36 μM) for the electrocatalytic oxidation of ethanol with a linear concentration …

Surface Diffusion Of Adsorptive Species On Gold Nanoelectrodes, Bao-Fa Su, Wei Wang, Dong-Ping Zhan, Bin Ren, Zhong-Qun Tian

Journal of Electrochemistry

Gold nanoelectrodes were prepared successfully by a programmed laser puller. The Faraday adsorptions of oxygen and iodine, and the underpotential deposition of lead on the gold nanoelectrodes were investigated. The results showed that the active areas of nanoelectrodes were dramatically higher than their appearant geometry areas, which is caused by the surface diffusion of adsorptive species from the nanoscale gold/electrolyte interface to the adjacent gold surface.

The Flip-Flop Behavior Of Acetonitrile At Au Electrode Surface Investigated By Sum Frequency Generation Vibrational Spectroscopy, Zhi Huang, Xin Tang, Gang-Hua Deng, En-Cai Zhou, Hong-Fei Wang, Yuan Guo

Journal of Electrochemistry

The electrochemical interface between liquid acetonitrile and polycrystal gold electrode is investigated by in situ infrared visible sum frequency generation spectroscopy (SFG-VS). The structure of acetonitrile adsorbed at polycrystal gold electrode surface is studied as a function of electrode potential. The SFG spectra of CH3 group indicate acetonitrile orients in response to the electrode potential. The SFG signal of CH3 group turns lower as the electrode potential changes from -700mV to 300mV, and vanishes around the 300mV(pzc), then becomes a negative signal above 500mV, which indicates that the orientation is predominately with the CH3 group toward the …

Study Of The 11-Ferrocenylalkanethiol Redox-Induced Structure Changes By Flow-Injection Electrochemical Surface Plasmon Resonance, Xiu-Juan Xiao, Yong-Hui He, Juan Xiang, Bin Ren

Journal of Electrochemistry

Redox-induced orientation changes of self-assembled monolayers(SAMs) of 11-ferrocenylundecanethiol(FcC11SH) were studied by the flow-injection electrochemical surface plasmon resonance(FI-EC-SPR).Results indicated that there existed two mechanisms concerning the redox-induced structure change of the self-assembled monolayer of ferrocenylalkanethiols:the electrostatic repulsion between the positively charged surface and the ferricenium cation and that among the cations led to a decrease in the tilt angle of the alkanethiol chain;upon Fc oxidation, the Fc group rotated from a tilted conformation to a position where the cyclpentyldiene plane became perpendicular to the electrode.

The formation of the oxygen-containing species significantly affects the alcohol oxidation on Pd electrode. The in situ FTIR spectroscopic measurements show that the oxidation products of ethylene glycol on Pd electrode are CO2 and oxalic …

Based on density functional theory(DFT) calculation of vibration modes, approximate assignment of 4-AAP SERS spectrum was conducted. In situ SERS spectral electrochemical experiments indicated that the 4-AAP monolayers experience a dynamic adsorption process from a tilted fashion to a more vertical mode for benzene ring and more parallel for pyrine ring with the potential applied toward more negative voltages. The complete …

Journal of Electrochemistry

The aim of this review is to introduce the characterization of energy materials by X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) . This technique allows us to probe changes in the valance state and the local environment of the targeted element in the active material; thereby, leading to a better understanding of its electrochemical behavior, and hopefully showing the way to improved performance. Here, electrocatalysts for fuel cells and active electrode materials for Li-ion batteries are taken as the examples that illustrate the capability of XAS and allow observation and theory to be correlated with electrochemical phenomena.

Electrochemical Sers Studies On The Adsorption Of Benzoimidazole And Derivative In Nonaqueous Solution, Ya-Xian Yuan, Feng-Zhu Yang, Wei Liu, Ping-Jie Wei, Jian-Lin Yao, Ren-Ao Gu

Journal of Electrochemistry

The surface adsorption of benzoimidazole (BIMH) and 2-mercaptobenzimidazole(MBI) was investigated by electrochemical in-situ surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and direct electrochemical synthesis on Cu electrode. The influence of the neutral ligand of triphenylphosphine (pph3) on the adsorption and surface coordination of BIMH and MBI were investigated respectively. BIMH interacted with metal surface by the neutral molecule to form chemical adlayer in the extremely negative potential, while it adsorbed onto metal surface through the N atoms to form a polymer film which may suppress the corrosion of the metal. The introduction of pph3 destroyed the film formation of BIMH …
