Reducing Food Scarcity: The Benefits Of Urban Farming, S.A. Claudell, Emilio Mejia Dec 2023

Reducing Food Scarcity: The Benefits Of Urban Farming, S.A. Claudell, Emilio Mejia

Journal of Nonprofit Innovation

Urban farming can enhance the lives of communities and help reduce food scarcity. This paper presents a conceptual prototype of an efficient urban farming community that can be scaled for a single apartment building or an entire community across all global geoeconomics regions, including densely populated cities and rural, developing towns and communities. When deployed in coordination with smart crop choices, local farm support, and efficient transportation then the result isn’t just sustainability, but also increasing fresh produce accessibility, optimizing nutritional value, eliminating the use of ‘forever chemicals’, reducing transportation costs, and fostering global environmental benefits.

Numerical Computations Of Vortex Formation Length In Flow Past An Elliptical Cylinder, Matthew Karlson, Bogdan Nita, Ashwin Vaidya Sep 2020

Numerical Computations Of Vortex Formation Length In Flow Past An Elliptical Cylinder, Matthew Karlson, Bogdan Nita, Ashwin Vaidya

Department of Mathematics Facuty Scholarship and Creative Works

We examine two dimensional properties of vortex shedding past elliptical cylinders through numerical simulations. Specifically, we investigate the vortex formation length in the Reynolds number regime 10 to 100 for elliptical bodies of aspect ratio in the range 0.4 to 1.4. Our computations reveal that in the steady flow regime, the change in the vortex length follows a linear profile with respect to the Reynolds number, while in the unsteady regime, the time averaged vortex length decreases in an exponential manner with increasing Reynolds number. The transition in profile is used to identify the critical Reynolds number which marks the …

Some Relations On Generalized Rice's Matrix Polynomials, Ayman Shehata Jun 2017

Some Relations On Generalized Rice's Matrix Polynomials, Ayman Shehata

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

The main aim of this paper is to obtain certain properties of generalized Rice’s matrix polynomials such as their matrix differential equation, generating matrix functions, an expansion for them. We have also deduced the various families of bilinear and bilateral generating matrix functions for them with the help of the generating matrix functions developed in the paper and some of their applications have also been presented here.

Some Properties Of Certain Mixed Type Special Matrix Functions And Polynomials, Ahmed A. Al-Gonah, Fatima M. Al-Samadi Jun 2017

Some Properties Of Certain Mixed Type Special Matrix Functions And Polynomials, Ahmed A. Al-Gonah, Fatima M. Al-Samadi

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

By using certain operational methods, the authors introduce some new mixed type special matrix functions and polynomials. Some properties of these matrix functions and polynomials are established.

Special Fuzzy Matrices For Social Scientists, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, K. Ilanthenral Jan 2007

Special Fuzzy Matrices For Social Scientists, Florentin Smarandache, W.B. Vasantha Kandasamy, K. Ilanthenral

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

This book is a continuation of the book, "Elementary fuzzy matrix and fuzzy models for socio-scientists" by the same authors. This book is a little advanced because we introduce a multi-expert fuzzy and neutrosophic models. It mainly tries to help social scientists to analyze any problem in which they need multi-expert systems with multi-models. To cater to this need, we have introduced new classes of fuzzy and neutrosophic special matrices. The first chapter is essentially spent on introducing the new notion of different types of special fuzzy and neutrosophic matrices, and the simple operations on them which are needed in …

Sequences Of Numbers Involved In Unsolved Problems, Florentin Smarandache

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

Here it is a long list of sequences, functions, unsolved problems, conjectures, theorems, relationships, operations, etc. Some of them are inter-connected. 1) Consecutive Sequence: 1,12,123,1234,12345,123456,1234567,12345678,123456789,12345678910, 1234567891011,123456789101112,12345678910111213,... How many primes are there among these numbers? In a general form, the Consecutive Sequence is considered in an arbitrary numeration base B.
