On The Numerical Solution Of Linear Fredholm-Volterra İntegro Differential Difference Equations With Piecewise İntervals, Mustafa Gülsu, Yalçın Öztürk

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

The numerical solution of a mixed linear integro delay differential-difference equation with piecewise interval is presented using the Chebyshev collocation method. The aim of this article is to present an efficient numerical procedure for solving a mixed linear integro delay differential difference equations. Our method depends mainly on a Chebyshev expansion approach. This method transforms a mixed linear integro delay differential-difference equations and the given conditions into a matrix equation which corresponds to a system of linear algebraic equation. The reliability and efficiency of the proposed scheme are demonstrated by some numerical experiments and performed on the computer algebraic system …

Investigation Of Nonlinear Problems Of Heat Conduction In Tapered Cooling Fins Via Symbolic Programming, Hooman Fatoorehchi, Hossein Abolghasemi

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

In this paper, symbolic programming is employed to handle a mathematical model representing conduction in heat dissipating fins with triangular profiles. As the first part of the analysis, the Modified Adomian Decomposition Method (MADM) is converted into a piece of computer code in MATLAB to seek solution for the mentioned problem with constant thermal conductivity (a linear problem). The results show that the proposed solution converges to the analytical solution rapidly. Afterwards, the code is extended to calculate Adomian polynomials and implemented to the similar, but more generalized, problem involving a power law dependence of thermal conductivity on temperature. The …

Fractional Integrals And Derivatives For Sumudu Transform On Distribution Spaces, Deshna Loonker, P. K. Banerji

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

We propose, in the present paper, the investigation of the Sumudu transformation for certain distribution spaces with regard to the fractional integral and differential operators of the transform. This paper is organized in two sections, first of which gives an abriged text on fractional operators and the Sumudu transform (which is less discussed and reserached). Basic concept in analysing the investigation is initiated by the fact that the Riemann-Liouville fractional integral can be expressed as one of the appropriate forms of the Abel integral equation, which is the second section of this paper.

A New Cg-Algorithm With Self-Scaling Vm-Update For Unconstraint Optimization, Abbas Y. Al-Bayati, Ivan S. Latif

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

In this paper, a new combined extended Conjugate-Gradient (CG) and Variable-Metric (VM) methods is proposed for solving unconstrained large-scale numerical optimization problems. The basic idea is to choose a combination of the current gradient and some pervious search directions as a new search direction updated by Al-Bayati's SCVM-method to fit a new step-size parameter using Armijo Inexact Line Searches (ILS). This method is based on the ILS and its numerical properties are discussed using different non-linear test functions with various dimensions. The global convergence property of the new algorithm is investigated under few weak conditions. Numerical experiments show that the …

Two Numerical Algorithms For Solving A Partial Integro-Differential Equation With A Weakly Singular Kernel, Jeong-Mi Yoon, Shishen Xie, Volodymyr Hrynkiv

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

Two numerical algorithms based on variational iteration and decomposition methods are developed to solve a linear partial integro-differential equation with a weakly singular kernel arising from viscoelasticity. In addition, analytic solution is re-derived by using the variational iteration method and decomposition method.

A New Hermite Collocation Method For Solving Differential Difference Equations, Mustafa Gülsu, Hatice Yalman, Mehmet Sezer

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

The purpose of this study is to give a Hermite polynomial approximation for the solution of mth order linear differential-difference equations with variable coefficients under mixed conditions. For this purpose, a new Hermite collocation method is introduced. This method is based on the truncated Hermite expansion of the function in the differential-difference equations. Hence, the resulting matrix equation can be solved and the unknown Hermite coefficients can be found approximately. In addition, examples that illustrate the pertinent features of the method are presented and the results of the study discussed

A Resource Based Stage-Structured Fishery Model With Selective Harvesting Of Mature Species, T. K. Kar, Swarnakamal Misra

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

In this paper we have considered a model in which revenue is generated from fishing and the growth of the fish depends upon the plankton which in turn follows a logistic law of growth. Here the fish population has two stages, a juvenile stage and a mature stage and we consider the harvesting of the mature fish species. Stability and permanence of the system are discussed. Maximum sustainable yield, maximum economic yield and optimal sustainable yield are obtained and different tax policies are discussed to achieve the reference points.

Bianchi Type I Bulk Viscous Fluid String Dust Cosmological Model With Magnetic Field In Bimetric Theory Of Gravitation, M. S. Borkar, S. S. Charjan

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

In the presence of both magnetic field and bulk viscosity, Bianchi Type I bulk viscous fluid string dust cosmological model in Rosen’s bimetric theory of gravitation have been investigated by using the technique of Letelier and Stachel. The nature of the model is discussed in the absence of both magnetic field and bulk viscosity. To get a determinate solution, we have assumed the condition that σ is proportional to θ and ζθ = constant where σ is the shear, θ is the expansion in the model and ζ is the coefficient of bulk viscosity. Further the physical and geometrical significance …

Improved Dust Acoustic Solitary Waves In Two Temperature Dust Fluids, E. K. El-Shewy, H. G. Abdelwahed, M. I. Abo El Maaty, M. A. Elmessary

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

A theoretical investigation is carried out for contribution of the higher-order nonlinearity to nonlinear dust-acoustic solitary waves (DASWs) in an unmagnetized two types of dust fluids (one cold and the other is hot) in the presence of Bolltzmannian ions and electrons. A KdV equation that contains the lowest-order nonlinearity and dispersion is derived from the lowest order of perturbation and a linear inhomogeneous (KdV-type) equation that accounts for the higher-order nonlinearity and dispersion is obtained. A stationary solution for equations resulting from higher-order perturbation theory has been found using the renormalization method. The effects of hot and cold dust charge …

Soliton And Periodic Solutions For (3+1)-Dimensional Nonlinear Evolution Equations By Exp-Function Method, A. Borhanifar, M. M. Kabir

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

In this paper, (3+1)-dimensional Jimbo-Miwa and (3+1)-dimensional potential-YTSF equations are considered and the Exp-Function method is employed to compute the exact solutions. The solutions obtained by this method are compared with the exact solutions obtained through other methods. These equations play a very important role in mathematical physics and engineering sciences. It is shown that the Exp-Function method, with the help of symbolic computation, provides a powerful mathematical tool for solving nonlinear evolution equations in mathematical physics
