Learning With Errors Parameter Analysis, Archana Parameswaran
Learning With Errors Parameter Analysis, Archana Parameswaran
Cybersecurity Undergraduate Research Showcase
We implement a systematic approach for generating, evaluating, and benchmarking Learning with Errors implementations in Sage Math by varying lattice dimensions, moduli, error standard deviations, and multiple error distributions to observe concrete security-efficiency tradeoffs. The security estimator maps parameter sets to concrete security levels and bits, while performance metrics measured computational efficiency and memory requirements. Results indicate that various distribution types do not significantly impact security, though binomial distributions require more computational overhead than discrete gaussian or uniform. Memory requirements increased when modulus q increased from 12289 to 65537. Larger dimensions have an exponentially growing requirement for memory, but this β¦
Asymptotic Expansion Of A Maier-Saupe Type Potential Near The Nematic-Isotropic Transition Point In Liquid Crystals, Ryan P. Oneill, Giangvuthanh Nguyen, Xiang Xu
Asymptotic Expansion Of A Maier-Saupe Type Potential Near The Nematic-Isotropic Transition Point In Liquid Crystals, Ryan P. Oneill, Giangvuthanh Nguyen, Xiang Xu
OUR Journal: ODU Undergraduate Research Journal
In this paper we study a Maier-Saupe type bulk potential (Maier & Saupe, 1959) in the Landau-de Gennes free energy in the Q-tensor theory modeling nematic liquid crystal configurations. This potential was originally introduced in Katriel et al. (1986), which is considered as a natural enforcement of a physical constraint on the eigenvalues of symmetric, traceless Q-tensors. More specifically, we present a rigorous derivation of the asymptotic expansion of this singular potential near the nematic-isotropic transition point up to the 4-th order.
An Adaptive Algorithm For `The Secretary Problem': Alternate Proof Of The Divergence Of A Maximizer Sequence, Andrew Benfante, Xiang Xu
An Adaptive Algorithm For `The Secretary Problem': Alternate Proof Of The Divergence Of A Maximizer Sequence, Andrew Benfante, Xiang Xu
OUR Journal: ODU Undergraduate Research Journal
This paper presents an alternate proof of the divergence of the unique maximizer sequence {π₯β π} of a function sequence {πΉπ(π₯)} that is derived from an adaptive algorithm based on the now classic optimal stopping problem, known by many names but here βthe secretary problemβ. The alternate proof uses a result established by Nguyen, Xu, and Zhao (n.d.) regarding the uniqueness of maximizer points of a generalized function sequence {ππ,π π } and relies on the strict monotonicity of πΉπ(π₯) as π increases in order to show divergence of {π₯β π}. Towards this, limits of the exponentiated Gaussian CDF are β¦
Quantum Computing And Its Applications In Healthcare, Vu Giang
Quantum Computing And Its Applications In Healthcare, Vu Giang
OUR Journal: ODU Undergraduate Research Journal
This paper serves as a review of the state of quantum computing and its application in healthcare. The various avenues for how quantum computing can be applied to healthcare is discussed here along with the conversation about the limitations of the technology. With more and more efforts put into the development of these computers, its future is promising with the endeavors of furthering healthcare and various other industries.

The picture is of the tapering Chester Shot Tower, located in Chester, England. It was built in 1799 for the manufacture of lead shot for use in the Napoleonic Wars. Molten lead was poured through a sieve at the top of the tower, with the tiny droplets forming perfect spheres during the fall; these were then cooled in a vat of water at the base. This process was less labor intensive than an earlier method using molds. It is the oldest of the three remaining shot towers in the UK.
Question 1: Using the parked van at the base, estimate β¦

Geographically weighted regression (GWR) has been recognized in the assessment community as a viable automated valuation model (AVM) to help overcome, at least in part, modeling hurdles associated with location, such as spatial heterogeneity and spatial autocorrelation of error terms. Although previous researchers have adjusted the GWR weights matrix to also weight by time of sale or by structural similarity of properties in AVMs, the research described in this paper is the first that has done so by all three dimensions (i.e., location, structural similarity, and time of sale) simultaneously. Using 24 years of single-family residential sales in Fairfax, Virginia, β¦

Decision science can be an effective tool for enhancing organizational participation during strategic and complex decision making. This involvement develops a group consensus for relating organizational goals and the methods to achieve them. This paper describes an application of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to define curricular topics that meet program objectives. Based on the ability of QFD to establish relationships, the model identifies the most important topics and quantifies their impact on meeting program goals. The model was developed to support restructuring of a Masters of Engineering Management degree program. The model supported decisions in selecting and prioritizing the required β¦
