The dynamical character of education and the complexity of its constituent relationships have long been recognized, but the full appreciation of the implications of these insights for educational research is recent. Most educational research to this day tends to focus on outcomes rather than process, and rely on conventional cross-sectional designs and statistical inference methods that do not capture this complexity. N-body pairwise interactions are ubiquitous in scientific areas such as astrophysics, fluids mechanics, electrical engineering, molecular biology, etc. Computing these interactions using direct sum of an O(N) cost is expensive, whereas multipole expansion methods, such as the fast multipole method (FMM) or treecode, can reduce the cost to O(N) or O(N log N). The modeling of delay diffusion in airport networks can potentially help develop strategies to prevent the spread of such delays and disruptions. With this goal, we used the publicly-available historical United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) flight data to model the spread of delays in the US airport network. For the major (ASPM-77) airports for January 2017, using a threshold on the volume of flights, we sparsify the network in order to better recognize patterns and cluster structure of the network. We present a Trefftz-type finite element method on meshes consisting of curvilinear polygons. Local basis functions are computed using integral equation techniques that allow for the efficient and accurate evaluation of quantities needed in the formation of local stiffness matrices. To define our local finite element spaces in the presence of curved edges, we must also properly define what it means for a function defined on a curved edge to be "polynomial" of a given degree on that edge. While current methods such as Finite Difference are able to carry out these computations efficiently, their accuracy and scalability can be improved. Inspired by One Note Samba, a standard jazz repertoire, we present an outline of Bose-Einstein Condensate Cosmology. Although this approach seems awkward and a bit off the wall at first glance, it is not impossible to connect altogether BEC, Scalar Field Cosmology and Feshbach Resonance with Ermakov-Pinney equation. We also briefly discuss possible link with our previous paper which describes Newtonian Universe with Vortex in terms of Ermakov equation.

Partial differential equations (PDEs) are used throughout science and engineering for modeling various phenomena. Solutions to PDEs cannot generally be represented analytically, and therefore must be approximated using numerical techniques; this is especially true for geometrically complex domains. Radial basis function generated finite differences (RBF-FD) is a recently developed mesh-free method for numerically solving PDEs that is robust, accurate, computationally efficient, and geometrically flexible. In the past seven years, RBF-FD methods have been developed for solving PDEs on surfaces, which have applications in biology, chemistry, geophysics, and computer graphics. In this paper, Runge-Kutta-Gegenbauer (RKG) stability polynomials of arbitrarily high order of accuracy are introduced in closed form. The stability domain of RKG polynomials extends in the the real direction with the square of polynomial degree, and in the imaginary direction as an increasing function of Gegenbauer parameter. Consequently, the polynomials are naturally suited to the construction of high order stabilized Runge-Kutta (SRK) explicit methods for systems of PDEs of mixed hyperbolic-parabolic type.

Performance data on earth dams and levees continue to indicate that piping is one of the major causes of failure. Current criteria for prevention of piping in earth dams and levees have remained largely empirical. This paper aims at developing a mechanistic understanding of the conditions necessary to prevent piping and to enhance the likelihood of self-healing of cracks in levees subjected to hydrodynamic loading from astronomical and meteorological (including hurricane storm surge-induced) forces. This paper analyzes the transient behavior of an M/M/1 queueing model with single vacation, feedback, interrupted closedown time and control of admission during vacation. The time-dependent system size probabilities for the proposed model are obtained using generating function in the closed form. Further, the system performance measures like mean and variance of system size are also obtained for the time-dependent case. In this paper, an exponentially fitted non standard finite difference method is proposed to solve singularly perturbed differential-difference equations with boundary layer on left and right sides of the interval. In this method, the original second order differential difference equation is replaced by an asymptotically equivalent singularly perturbed problem and in turn the problem is replaced by an asymptotically equivalent first order problem. In this paper, the systems of variable-coefficient coupled Burgers equation are solved by a free mesh method. The method is based on the collocation points with the modified Gaussian (MGA) radial basis function (RBF). Dependent parameters and independent parameters and their effect on the stability are shown. The accuracy and efficiency of the method has been checked by two examples. The results of numerical experiments are compared with analytical solutions by calculating errors infinity-norm.

Periodic and soliton solutions are derived for the (1+1)-dimensional van der Waals gas system in the viscosity-capillarity regularization form. The system is handled via the e-φ(ξ) -expansion method. The obtained solutions have been articulated by the hyperbolic, trigonometric, exponential and rational functions with arbitrary constants. Mathematical analysis and numerical graphs are provided for some solitons, periodic and kink solitary wave solutions to visualize the dynamics of equations. Obtained results reveal that the method is very influential and effective tool for solving nonlinear partial differential equations in applied mathematics.

A Similarity group theoretical technique is used to transform the governing nonlinear partial differential equations of two dimensional MHD boundary layer flow of Sisko fluid into nonlinear ordinary differential equations. In this paper, we focused on general nonlinear programming (NLP) problems having m nonlinear (or linear) algebraic inequality (or equality or mixed) constraints with a nonlinear (or linear) algebraic objective function in n variables. We proposed a new two-phase-successive linearization approach for solving NLP problems. Aim of this proposed approach is to find a solution of the NLP problem, based on optimal solution of linear programming (LP) problems, satisfying the nonlinear constraints oversensitively. This approach leads to novel methods. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the approach.
