Kidney tubules are lined with flow-sensing structures, yet information about the flow itself is not easily obtained. We aim to generate a multiscale biomechanical model for analyzing fluid flow and fluid-structure interactions within an elastic kidney tubule when the driving pressure is pulsatile. We developed a two-dimensional macroscopic mathematical model of a single fluid-filled tubule corresponding to a distal nephron segment and determined both flow dynamics and wall strains over a range of driving frequencies and wall compliances using finite-element analysis. The 2015 article Creating Diversified Portfolios Using Cluster Analysis proposes an algorithm that uses the Sharpe ratio and results from K-means clustering conducted on companies' historical financial ratios to generate stock market portfolios. This project seeks to evaluate the performance of the portfolio-building algorithm during the beginning period of the COVID-19 recession. S&P 500 companies' historical stock price movement and their historical return on assets and asset turnover ratios are used as dissimilarity metrics for K-means clustering. In the present article, we have presented a theoretical study on the swimming of migratory gyrotactic microorganisms in a non-Newtonian blood-based nanofluid via an anisotropically narrowing artery. Sutterby fluid model is used in order to understand the rheology of the blood as a non-Newtonian fluid model. This fluid pattern has the ability to show Newtonian and non-Newtonian features. The mathematical formulation is performed via continuity, temperature, motile microorganism, momentum, and concentration equation. "This work presents two kinds of decoupled finite element methods for the steady natural convection problem in two dimensions. Firstly, the standard Galerkin finite element method is derived in detail stating algorithms needed for the realization in MATLAB. A numerical example verifies the error convergence. Secondly, using iteration, the Boussinesq equations are decoupled into the Navier-Stokes equations and a parabolic problem. The resulting problems are solved either in parallel or sequentially. We exhibit infinite families of embedded tori in 4–manifolds that are topologically isotopic but smoothly distinct. The interesting thing about these tori is that they are topologically trivial in the sense that each bounds a topologically embedded solid handlebody. This implies that there are stably ribbon surfaces in 4–manifolds that are not ribbon.

In dynamic environments, split-second sensorimotor decisions must be prioritized according to potential payoffs to maximize overall rewards. The impact of relative value on deliberative perceptual judgments has been examined extensively, but relatively little is known about value-biasing mechanisms in the common situation where physical evidence is strong but the time to act is severely limited. This research examines the behavioral and electrophysiological indices of how value biases split-second perceptual decisions and the possible mechanisms underlying the process. Community-based natural resource management (CBNRM) has been suggested as a method to conserve resources while simultaneously empowering traditionally marginalized communities. The goal of this paper is to develop a novel numerical method for efficient multiplicative noise removal. The nonlocal self-similarity of natural images implies that the matrices formed by their nonlocal similar patches are low-rank. By exploiting this low-rank prior with application to multiplicative noise removal, we propose a nonlocal low-rank model for this task and develop a proximal alternating reweighted minimization (PARM) algorithm to solve the optimization problem resulting from the model. Phylogenetic Networks are defined to be simple connected graphs with exactly n labeled nodes of degree one, called leaves, and where all other unlabeled nodes have a degree of at least three. These structures assist us with analyzing ancestral history, and its close relative - phylogenetic trees - garner the same visualization, but without the graph being forced to be connected. In this paper, we examine the various characteristics of Phylogenetic Networks and functions that take these networks as inputs, and convert them to more complex or simpler structures. This work is devoted to the study of modeling high frequency time series including extreme fluctuations. As the high frequency data are collected at extremely fine scales, the fluctuations can capture the dynamics of data that evolve over time. A class of volatility models with time-varying parameters is used to forecast the volatility in a stationary condition at different lags. The modeling of stationary time series with consistent properties facilitates prediction with much certainty.

In this Dissertation, we show with plausible arguments that the Stochastic Differential Equations (SDEs) arising on the superposition and coupling system of independent Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process is a new method available in modern literature that takes the properties and behavior of the data into consideration when performing the statistical analysis of the time series.
The time series to be analyzed is thought of as a source of fluctuations, and thus we need a model that takes this behavior into consideration when performing such analysis. Most of the standard methods fail to take into account the physical behavior of the time series, …
