In this study, a new method for synthesizing diepoxides is proposed. Tetrahydroindene 1 was brominated with NBS in the presence of LiClO4 and acetic acid, resulting in the formation of dibromodiacetate derivatives 2 and 3. Treatment of compounds 2 and 3 with NaOH in methanol produced a mixture of diepoxides 4 and 5. Additionally, direct bromination of tetrahydro-1H-indene yielded tetrabromo octahydroindene isomers 6 and 7. The structures of the compounds were characterized using spectroscopic techniques such as 1H NMR, 13C NMR, APT, COSY, and XRD. Cr(VI), which has toxic effects, is a heavy metal and it must be removed from the environment due to the various damages it causes. In this study, the removal of Cr(VI) pollutants from aqueous solutions with Fe3O4-based materials using a batch adsorption technique was investigated. Magnetically modified graphene nanoplatelet (GNP)-based nanocomposites were prepared and their structures were characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM, BET, and TGA techniques. Quaternized chitosan (HTCC) was synthesized and characterized to increase chitosan solubility. Then HTCC was electrospun with poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and prepared natural bioactive agent (Calendula officinalis) extract was loaded onto fibers for wound scaffold applications. Morphological, structural, and mechanical characterization of the produced wound scaffolds was performed and their in vitro bioactive component release behavior was investigated. In the literature, there are studies on medical applications using different nanofiber production methods with natural polymers. However, each system has different fiber-forming capabilities. For this reason, in this study, we investigated the production of nanofibers from a biodegradable natural polymer, gelatin, using four separate nanofiber production methods, namely electrospinning (ES), electroblowing (EB), solution blowing (SB), and centrifugal spinning (CS). Xanthones comprise a large family of heterocycles displaying fascinating biological properties. Many synthetic protocols have been developed for the preparation of natural and nonnatural xanthone derivatives. Among them, condensation reactions between salicylic acid derivatives and phenol partners are highly desirable. Those reactions can be satisfactorily performed using Eaton’s reagent (P2O5 in CH3SO3H). Despite being highly effective with a variety of substrates, this approach presents limitations that depend on the electronic nature of the reaction precursors. In this paper, a novel Fenton reaction system which was called MHACF-MIL-100(Fe) was constructed. In this system, based on active hydrogen-accelerated FeIII reduction, the hydroxyl radical was continuously produced with a trace amount of total iron. The MIL-100(Fe) modified with the nano-Pd0 particle could be used to activate the H2. Under normal temperature and pressure, the target organic pollutants, such as sulfamethazine and 4-chloro phenol, could be degraded fast. In this study, mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) composed of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and porous ZSM-5 zeolite are thoroughly investigated for concentrating alcohols of ethanol and n-propanol via dewatering pervaporation. The effects of the zeolite content (10–30 wt.%), feed composition (5–30 wt.% water), and feed temperature (50–90 °C) on the pervaporation flux/separation factor and component permeance/selectivity of these MMMs are examined in detail. These MMMs achieve higher separation efficiency and pervaporation flux than their pure PVA counterparts as expected, even if the dehydration results strongly depend on the pervaporation conditions. Comparison Of Metal-Carbenoid Reactions Of Β-2-Five-Membered Heteroaryl Substituted Α,Β-Unsaturated Ketones, Kumsal Eroğlu, Olcay Anaç, Füsun Şeyma Kişkan

In this study, β-2-heteroaryl substituted (N-methyl 2-pyrrolyl, 2-thiophenyl, 2-furyl) α,β-unsaturated ketones were reacted with two α-diazo carbonyl compounds that had different characteristics (dimethyl diazo malonate and 1-diazo-1-phenyl-propane-2-one) in the presence of both copper and rhodium catalysts. In the case of reactions with N-methyl 2-pyrrolyl α,β-unsaturated ketones, the major product was the insertion derivative. However, in the reactions of 2-thiophenyl and 2-furyl α,β-unsaturated ketones with dimethyl diazomalonate (acceptor-acceptor disubstituted), only dihydrofuran products were formed over carbonyl ylides. When 2-thiophenyl and 2-furyl α,β-unsaturated ketones were reacted with 1-diazo-1-phenyl-propane-2-one (donor-acceptor disubstituted), 1-phenylpropane-1,2-dione was obtained under our reaction conditions.

In this study, the pyridine side of a boron 2-(2'-pyridyl) imidazole (BOPIM) core, which has very few derivatives synthesized in the literature and can show fluorescence properties in solid form, was derivatized with 1-methylpyrazole, predicted to have activity against fungi or bacteria according to the literature. The intercalation of pyrazolone-based oxalamide metal complexes into Na-montmorillonite (Na-MMT) for catalytic liquid-phase oxidation of phenol using H2O2 was undertaken by a flexible ligand method using metal ions including Mn(II), Zn(II), and Sn(II). First, the metal ions were exchanged with the sodium ions of Na-MMT, and then these metal ions were complexed with a new pyrazolone-based oxalamide ligand. Veratrum spp. have traditionally been used in folk medicine to treat various pathologies. In this study, nine compounds, comprising one simple phenolic compound (1), three stilbenoids (2–4), and five flavonoids (5–9), were isolated from the aerial parts of Veratrum versicolor f. viride Nakai. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses and comparison with reported data. Together, all reported compounds were isolated from V. versicolor f. viride for the first time in the study. Phthalocyanines are tetrapyrrolic artificial porphyrinoids that play major roles in advanced biological and technological applications. Research on this family of dyes is particularly active in Türkiye, with many derivatives being prepared from 4,5-dihexyl-thiophthalonitrile DiSHexPN, which is one of the most popular noncommercially available building blocks for phthalocyanines. This review summarizes the phthalocyanines and their versatile properties and applications that have been published since 1994, when the synthesis of DiSHexPN was first described, to emphasize the importance of this building block in plentiful applications, all with bio-medical or technological impact.

In this study, a portable smartphone-based digital image colorimetric system (SDIC) was designed and integrated with a solidified floating organic drop microextraction method (SFODME) for the quantification of methyl red in textile wastewater samples. The RGB (red, green, and blue) data were evaluated for each captured image, and the green channel was selected for quantification due to its linear response for the analyte. Under optimal conditions, an acceptable linear range was recorded for the analyte. The proposed method recorded a limit of detection (LOD) value of 0.046 mg/L. Dye-ligand affinity chromatography is among the increasingly popular affinity chromatography based on molecular recognition for the purification of albumin. This study focuses on the binding of Cibacron Blue F3GA ligand dye with magnetic silica particles and purification by separation. In this study, viologen-tetrasubstituted Zn(II) phthalocyanines (PcV1 and PcV2) were designed and synthesized to achieve the tunable optical features via redox-active viologen groups. Several parameters relevant to the evaluation of the tunable optical features have been investigated: UV-Vis, cyclic voltammetry (CV), EPR, square wave voltammetry (SWV), and theoretical analyses. The results showed that upon reductions and oxidations of viologen groups either chemically or electrochemically, the optical features of PcV1 and PcV2 change drastically with switchable processes. The synthesis and characterization of a novel covalent organic polymer cobalt (II) phthalocyanine (ATA-100) including tetra amino group is described for the first time. This covalent organic polymer (COP) is characterized by FTIR, TGA, RAMAN, PXRD, and SEM-EDS. The developed sensor is tested for acetone, ethyl butyrate, n-hexane, chloroform, and n-butyraldehyde in a range of 80-10,900 ppm. ATA-100 showed the highest sensitivity for ethyl butyrate. The results have confirmed the possibility of utilizing ATA-100 COP-based surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors for a wide variety of applications, including indoor air quality and environmental monitoring of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

This study presents the synthesis of some metal {M = Zn(II), Lu(III), Si(IV)} phthalocyanines bearing chlorine and 2-(4-methylthiazol-5-yl) ethoxy groups at peripheral or axial positions. The newly synthesized metal phthalocyanines were characterized by applying FT-IR, 1 H NMR, mass, and UV-Vis spectroscopic approaches. Additionally, the surface of gold nanoparticles was modified with zinc(II) and silicon(IV) phthalocyanines. The resultant nanoconjugates were characterized using TEM images. Moreover, the effect of metal ions and position of substituent, and gold nanoparticles on the photochemical and sonophotochemical properties of the studied phthalocyanines was investigated. In pristine graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN), amino groups often function as structural defects that trap photogenerated charges, resulting in low photocatalytic activity as well as reaction with nitrite, aldehyde, etc., ensuing in poor product yield. Without significantly altering the optical characteristics, the removal of amino groups is necessary to increase the photocatalytic activity and structural stability of pristine g-CN. Reducible WO3 powder with a mean diameter of 100 nm is used as support to stabilize ruthenium(0) nanoparticles. Ruthenium(0) nanoparticles are obtained by NaBH4 reduction of ruthenium(III) precursor on the surface of WO3 support at room temperature. Ruthenium(0) nanoparticles are uniformly dispersed on the surface of tungsten(VI) oxide. The obtained Ru0 /WO3 nanoparticles are found to be active catalysts in hydrolytic dehydrogenation of ammonia borane. The turnover frequency (TOF) values of the Ru0 /WO3 nanocatalysts with the metal loading of 1.0%, 2.0%, and 3.0% wt. Ru are 122, 106, and 83 min-1, respectively, in releasing hydrogen gas from …

Twelve compounds with a 1,5-diaryl-1-penten-3-one structure were synthesized and their cytotoxic activities were evaluated. The 1,5-diaryl-1-penten-3-one compounds were obtained via in situ enaminations of 4-phenyl-2-butanone and 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2- butanone in the presence of pyrrolidine-AcOH, followed by condensation with six different benzaldehydes. The synthesized compounds were tested for their cytotoxic activity against human glioblastoma (U87-MG), breast (MCF-7), and prostate (PC-3) cancer cell lines. Some of the novel compounds exhibited remarkable cytotoxic action, especially against MCF-7 cancer cells.

The photocatalytic nitric oxide (NO) oxidation reaction is used as a standard diagnostic tool for photocatalytic activity according to the well-defined protocol described by ISO Standard 22197-1-2007. This protocol identifies the negative peak showing a NOx concentration drop during a gas flow switch from the calibration bypass to the reactor as adsorption of NOx on the surface. Evidence is provided for this first transient to be due to a dilution effect in the gas phase within the reactor.
