Biological Potential Of Copper Complexes: A Review, Jamshaid Ashraf, Muhammad Asad Riaz
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
This review comprises the inorganic compounds particularly metal coordinated complexes, as drugs play a relevant role in medicinal chemistry. It has been observed that copper complexes are potentially attractive as medicinal importance. In this review, the most remarkable achievements of copper complexes undertaken over the past few decades as antimicrobial, antioxidant, enzyme inhibition activity, and anti-cancer agents are discussed. This work was motivated by the observation that no comprehensive surveys of the diversity of biological activities of copper complexes were available in the literature.

Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Marine compound dendrodoine was first obtained from tunicate species (Dendrodo grossularia). It has a five-membered ring, namely, it is a heterocycle thiadiazole, which is found rarely in natural sources. Following its biological activities, novel analogs have been investigated recently. Synthesis of the analogs for this study is realized with uncommon thiazole closure, including methylene-carbonyl condensation. Structures are elucidated by NMR (1H, 13C) and HRMS spectrums. As an alkaloid derivative, antioxidant properties were evaluated with DPPH and FRAP assays and antimicrobial effect with microdilution method. Among the series, 3bc-3cf showed higher antioxidant activity than those having 3 or 4-pyridyl substituents. There …

The reaction of thione 3 or its 2-methylthio derivative 4 with hydrazonoyl halides 5a-l, in the presence of triethylamine, yielded the corresponding triazolo[4,3-$a$]pyrimidin-5(1$H)$-ones 8a-l. The structure of compounds 8a-l was further confirmed by the reaction of 3 with the appropriate active chloromethylenes 11a-c followed by coupling of the products with benzenediazonium chloride to afford the azo-coupling products 6b, f, and j, which were converted in situ to 8b, f, and j. 2-Hydrazinyl-pyrido[3',2':4,5]thieno[3,2-$d$]pyrimidin-4(3$H)$-one (13) was prepared and condensed with different aldehydes 14a-f to give the corresponding hydrazone derivatives 15a-f. Oxidative cyclization of the hydrazones 15a-f give the corresponding triazolo[4,3-$a$] pyrimidin-5(1$H)$-one derivatives …

A series of binucleating Cu(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) complexes of bicompartmental ligands with ONO donors were prepared. The ligands were synthesized by the condensation of 5-substituted-3-phenyl-1H-indole-2-carboxyhydrazides and 4,6-diacetylresorcinol. The newly synthesized ligands and their complexes were characterized by elemental analysis and various spectral studies like IR, ^1H NMR, ESI-mass, UV-Vis, ESR, thermal studies, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, and powder-XRD data. All the complexes were binuclear and monomeric in nature. Cu(II) complexes have octahedral geometry, whereas Ni(II) and Zn(II) complexes have square planar and tetrahedral geometry, respectively. The redox property of the Cu(II) complex was investigated by electrochemical method using cyclic …
