Nebraska Tractor Tests
This report and any related files are made available to the online through the Lester F. Larsen Tractor Test and Power Museum as resources allow. Established in 1998, this museum is located on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus. It is and appropriately housed within the walls of the historic 1920 Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory, where the first tractor test was started on March 31st, 1920. Because the pioneer tests became worldwide standards, this location was designated as a Historic Landmark of Agricultural Engineering by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers in 1980, shortly after testing was moved to a …

EXPLANATION OF TEST REPORT: John Deere 50 TEST A: The manufacturer's representative operates the tractor for a minimum of 12 hours using light to heavy drawbar loads in each gear. This serves as a period for limber up, general observation and adjustments. Adjustments that are permissible include valve tappet clearance, breaker ,point gap, spark plug gaps, clutch and others of a similar nature. No new parts or accessories can be installed without having mention made of it in the report. No data' are recorded during this preliminary run except the time that the engine is operated. Report On Historical Investigation Of Wounded Knee Battlefield Site, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota, Merrill J. Mattes
Report On Historical Investigation Of Wounded Knee Battlefield Site, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota, Merrill J. Mattes
United States National Park Service: Publications
In April 1952, the National Park Service was requested by Representative E. Y. Berry of South Dakota, to consider the possibility of giving national recognition to Wounded Knee Battlefield, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation of South Dakota. Limited Date on the battlefield was presented on April 22 to the Advisory Board on National Parks, Historic Sites, Buildings, and Monuments. The Board asked that a field investigation and report be made by the Service to secure more comprehensive data. The Region Two office was requested to conduct this investigation by a note appended to Mr. Tolson's letter of May 9 …

Internal Fissuring Of Wheat Due To Weathering, Max Milner, J. A. Shellenberger, M. R. Lee, Robert Katz
Internal Fissuring Of Wheat Due To Weathering, Max Milner, J. A. Shellenberger, M. R. Lee, Robert Katz
Robert Katz Publications
Radiographic technique developed at this Station for the determination of internal or hidden insect infestation in stored grain has proved to be useful for the detection of other physical anomalies in grains. Practical applications of this sort include the detection of cracked or broken kernels in rough rice (paddy) prior to milling as well as the extent of internal fracturing of certain grains such as maize due to uneven stresses arising from severe drying conditions. This communication deals with a condition of internal fissuring occurring in wheat due to weathering of the ripened grain in the field.

A question of interest to the study of the chemisorption of carbon monoxide on iron is whether the carbon is desorbed with the same oxygen to which it was bonded prior to the adsorption. A mixture of C13O and CO18 in the desorbed gas in amounts greater than expected from normal abundance ratios shows that an intermolecular oxygen exchange occurs.

In seeming contradiction to usual deductions from thermodynamics, it has been shown by De Donderi on the basis of his affinity function, by Prigogine2 on the basis of the Chapman- Enskog model, and by Manes, Hofer, and Wellers using purely mathematical methods, that the rate of a chemical reaction close to equilibrium is directly proportional to the free energy difference between reactants and products. This relation may be shown to be a consequence of the theory of absolute reaction rates, also.

Although the spectrographic analysis accompanying several enriched samarium isotopes from Oak Ridge contained <0.6 percent europium, some of the more intense internal conversion lines attributed to the disintegration of europium have been found photographically with neutron-activated samarium isotopes in a 180° focusing β-ray spectrograph.

Radiography Applied To Grain And Seeds, Max Milner, Milford R. Lee, Robert Katz
Robert Katz Publications
A radiographic method for the detection of internal insect infestation in grain by means of low energy radiation from a cobalt-target beryllium-window X-ray tube is described. The utility of the technic for inspection of wheat, corn, rice, and beans is illustrated with cuts made from original radiographs.

A Report On Drosophila Collections In Nebraska, David D. Williams, Dwight D. Miller
Bulletin of the University of Nebraska State Museum (1924–2023)
Until rather recently little has been known of the Drosophila species of Nebraska. Sturtevant (1921) lists Nebraska as one of seven states from which no Drosophila had been reported. Patterson and Wagner (1943) show that collections of Drosophila pseudoobscura had been made in the vicinities of Scottsbluff and Kearney, but no other Drosophila species are reported from Nebraska in their publication.

Waterfowl Breeding Ground Survey, 1952 In Nebraska, Harvey W. Miller
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: White Papers, Conference Presentations, and Manuscripts
The Nebraska Breeding Ground Survey has been conducted for the fifth consecutive year. This survey is aimed at providing indicators to the waterfowl population through measuring the seasonal and year b,y year trends in breeding numbers and production success. The survey recognizes the sandhill region as the most important waterfowl-producing area of Nebraska and therefore, studies have been largely concentrated there.

Audio Census Of Some Wisconsin Game Birds, Donald R. Thompson, Charles W. Lemke
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: White Papers, Conference Presentations, and Manuscripts
Audio censuses of Wisconsin game birds were commenced in 1948, and now include the bobwhite quail, the pheasant and the ruffed grouse, in the order in which censuses were introduced.
Briefly, audio censuses are based on the characteristic sounds given by the male of the species concerned during the breeding season. An observer strategically located at a station, or stations in the field tallies the number of individuals calling, and/or the number of calls heard during a given time period.
In Wisconsin, only the transect method is used, with the observer following a given route and making listening stops of …
