The present paper studied the effect of screened wheat (SW) levels and a multienzyme diet on Japanese quail performance, intestinal performance, and microbial population. A total of 480 unsexed 10-day-old quail chicks were assigned to a multienzyme diet (0 or 0.5 g/kg) and SW (0%, 5%, 10%, or 15%) in a 2 x 4 factorial arrangement of treatments with 4 replications and 15 quails in each in a completely randomized design. A number of mammals have been cloned, including cats and dogs. The purpose of this report was to study the bone fracture and bone fracture healing of three cloned dogs. The three cloned dogs, aged 3 months to 6 months, received separate surgeries. Clinical and radiological examination of each of the three cloned dogs revealed the fracture of a femur, a tibial tuberosity, and a humerus, respectively. Each dog had undergone surgical reduction and stabilization of their individual bone fracture with an intramedullary pin, a screw, and/or a wire. The aim of this study was to determine the normal ranges of proximal femoral and acetabular parameters in 26 adult healthy Sivas Kangal dogs (SKDs). Seaweeds contains different types of polysaccharides with high abilities. The aim of this study was to determine the potential of fucoidan polysaccharides for wound-healing properties. Fucoidans of two species of Padina (P. tetrastromatica and P. boergesenii), collected from the Persian Gulf northern coastal area, were extracted and analyzed using high-performance anion-exchange chromatography. Purified fucoidans were used to prepare a 2% topical ointment. The effect of ketamine, a drug commonly used as an anesthetic, on monoaminergic neurotransmitters and GABA in neurocytes from fetal rats has not yet been elucidated. We thus decided to investigate these effects by first evaluating ketamine levels in the cerebrospinal fluid by high-performance liquid chromatography. We thus determined the concentrations of GABA, DA, NE, 5-HT, and 5-HIAA following the addition of four different concentrations of ketamine at day 7 of nerve cell culture. The present study was performed to determine the differences of some seminal plasma proteins, i.e., glutathione peroxidase 5 (GPX5) and fibronectin 1 (FN1), and some spermatozoa proteins, i.e., triosephosphate isomerase (TPI) and ACRBP (acrosin binding protein), in the boar semen having good and poor freezability. The study was conducted by including 38 ejaculates in seminal plasma study and 32 ejaculates from spermatozoa study from 27 boars (Duroc=13, Landrace= 8, Yorkshire= 6). This study aimed at examining the effects of different concentrations of hydroxyethyl starch (HES) on quality of equine sperm following cold storage and cryopreservation. In experiment 1, the semen was collected from 6 stallions (3 replicates). The semen was diluted with extender for cold storage containing different concentrations of HES (2.5%, 5%, 10% and 15%). Extender without HES (0% HES) served as a control group. The temperature of extended semen was gradually decreased to 4 ºC. Comparative study was conducted to measure urinary N-acetyl-β-glucosaminidase (NAG), urinary glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and plasma glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in cats with feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC). A standard questionnaire was designed to gather information for all cats including signalment, characteristics, environment, type of food and management of the cats’ litter box to evaluate the risk factors for developing FIC. Blood and urine samples were collected from 19 clinically normal cats and 19 aged and sex matched cats with FIC. Study involved with potassium channel KCa3.1 blocker (triarylmethane-34; TRAM-34) in doxorubicin (DOX)-induced feline kidney cells was performed. The study was divided into two parts. In part I, subtoxic dose of TRAM-34 in feline kidney cell lines was studied to determine the cytotoxicity of TRAM-34 in feline kidney cells by cytotoxicity assay. This study aimed to determine the dynamics of serological and virological profiles against Porcine Circovirus type 2 (PCV2) infection in Thai swine herds using the in-house indirect ELISA and real-time PCR techniques. A total of 10 swine herds in Thailand were divided into two groups according to their clinical history. Group A (n=5) had clinical signs of PCV2, and was routinely vaccinated by PCV2 vaccines with production loss more than 5%. Canine infectious respiratory disease complex (CIRDC) viruses have been detected in dogs with respiratory illness. The CIRDC is associated with multiple factors depending on host susceptibility, environment and pathogens. Canine influenza virus (CIV), canine parainfluenza virus (CPIV), canine distemper virus (CDV), canine respiratory coronavirus (CRCoV), canine adenovirus type 2 (CAdV-2) and canine herpesvirus 1 (CaHV-1), are all associated with the CIRDC. To obtain the information of virulence factors associated with Staphylococcus pseudintermedius pathogenicity, host survival and adaptation, the study of staphylococcal enterotoxin (SE) genes and cell wall-associated (CWA) protein genes in S. pseudintermedius isolates from dogs, humans, and environment were performed. Human methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) harbored the hightes number of SE genes at 12 out of 17 genes compared to those from dogs at 5 and environmental isolates at 3 gene types. After an introduction of pandemic H1N1 swine influenza virus (pdmH1N1 SIV) in the Thai swine farms, mild clinical outcome is observed and its role in porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC) is questionable. A highly pathogenic porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (HP-PRRSV) has become endemic in the Thai swine farms. This study was conducted to determine the pathogenicity of the pdmH1N1 SIV when co-infected with a HP-PRRSV. Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) is a recently identified swine virus with currently unknown pathogenesis. To date, PCV3 has been found in many countries, indicating the wide spread of the virus. Therefore, there is an urgent need to clarify the detrimental role of PCV3. Multicentric lymphoma is the most common hematopoietic tumors in dogs. Both B- or T-lymphocyte clones can originate to lymphoma. A gold standard method to differentiate each lymphocyte lineage is immunohistochemistry (IHC) by detecting specific proteins of B and T cell. A protein marker for T and B cells is CD3 and CD79a, respectively. However, another pan pre B-cell marker is Pax5 or B-cell specific activator protein. It is more specific and sensitive than CD79a because it expresses only in B-cell lymphoma cases. Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is an economically significant swine disease having a negative impact to the swine industry worldwide. Appropriate management strategies and diagnostic tests are crucial to successfully control PRRS virus (PRRSV). However, the application for oral fluid-based diagnosis has not been evaluated in the Thai farms previously. In this study, pre-extraction methods of oral fluids were evaluated to improve the PCR product yielded. This study aimed at determine prevalence and concentration of Streptococcus suis contamination in pork production chains as well as evaluate the health risk attributable to S. suis serotype 2 from pork consumption in Thailand. In total, 492 pig-to-pork and 480 environmental samples were collected from 4 pork production chains in Bangkok. Besides, total 1,036 pork samples were also collected from traditional and modern trades in Chiangmai, Phayao, Nan, Khonkaen, Mukdahan, Saraburi, Nakhonpathom, and Phang-nga provinces. Risk estimates are evaluated by using quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA) which is a scientific tool. The methodology can be applied to model of human adverse health effect associated with K. pneumoniae and ciprofloxacin-resistant K. pneumoniae (CRKP) from pork consumption in Bangkok. The effects of dexmedetomidine combined with pethidine on the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of isoflurane and cardiorespiratory variables in dogs were evaluated in thirty client-owned, healthy adult male dogs scheduled for castration at the Small Animal Teaching Hospital, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University.
