After an introduction of pandemic H1N1 swine influenza virus (pdmH1N1 SIV) in the Thai swine farms, mild clinical outcome is observed and its role in porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC) is questionable. A highly pathogenic porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (HP-PRRSV) has become endemic in the Thai swine farms. This study was conducted to determine the pathogenicity of the pdmH1N1 SIV when co-infected with a HP-PRRSV. Multicentric lymphoma is the most common hematopoietic tumors in dogs. Both B- or T-lymphocyte clones can originate to lymphoma. A gold standard method to differentiate each lymphocyte lineage is immunohistochemistry (IHC) by detecting specific proteins of B and T cell. A protein marker for T and B cells is CD3 and CD79a, respectively. However, another pan pre B-cell marker is Pax5 or B-cell specific activator protein. This study aimed at determine prevalence and concentration of Streptococcus suis contamination in pork production chains as well as evaluate the health risk attributable to S. suis serotype 2 from pork consumption in Thailand. In total, 492 pig-to-pork and 480 environmental samples were collected from 4 pork production chains in Bangkok. Besides, total 1,036 pork samples were also collected from traditional and modern trades in Chiangmai, Phayao, Nan, Khonkaen, Mukdahan, Saraburi, Nakhonpathom, and Phang-nga provinces. Risk estimates are evaluated by using quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA) which is a scientific tool. The methodology can be applied to model of human adverse health effect associated with K. pneumoniae and ciprofloxacin-resistant K. pneumoniae (CRKP) from pork consumption in Bangkok. The study investigated the relationship of degree of patellar luxation of dogs with joint radiography, intra-articular degenerative change of the stifle with medial patellar luxation (MPL), histopathologic change, and biomarker index. Thirty-eight stifles were divided into four groups: normal stifle joints (4), grades 2 (13), 3 (12), and 4 (9) MPL. Brachycephalic airway obstruction syndrome (BAOS) is life threatening condition in brachycephalic dogs. Surgical correction of primary disorders including elongated soft palate and stenotic nares is indicated in all cases. Aim of this study was to compare the use of the ultrasonic scalpel with the conventional incision technique for staphylectomy. การประเมินทางพันธุกรรมของลักษณะการอยู่รอดของลูกสุกรที่สัมพันธ์กับขนาดครอกและน้ำหนักแรกเกิดรายตัว, ทิตยา วรวัฒนธรรม

ประเมินค่าพารามิเตอร์ทางพันธุกรรมของลักษณะการอยู่รอดของลูกสุกรแรกเกิด (PSB) และการอยู่รอดของลูกสุกรก่อนหย่านม (PSW) ร่วมกับลักษณะน้ำหนักแรกเกิดรายตัว (IBW) และลักษณะขนาดครอก (LS) จากข้อมูลการอยู่รอดของลูกสุกรจำนวน 14,389 บันทึก (1,413 ครอก) จากแม่สุกร 705 ตัว ข้อมูลการอยู่รอดของลูกสุกรพันธุ์แลนด์เรซ ยอร์กเชียร์ และดูร็อก บันทึกในฟาร์มที่เลี้ยงสุกรในโรงเรือนเปิดที่ไม่มีระบบระบายความร้อน เป็นข้อมูลของลูกสุกรที่เกิดระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2549 ถึง 2560 ประมาณค่าองค์ประกอบความแปรปรวนด้วยวิธี Gibbs sampling สำหรับลักษณะแบบไบนารี่และวิธี Average Information Restricted Maximum Likelihood (AIREML) สำหรับลักษณะแบบต่อเนื่อง ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ลำดับท้อง ระยะเวลาการอุ้มท้องของแม่สุกร และกลุ่มของโรงเรือน-ปี-เดือนที่ลูกสุกรเกิด มีอิทธิพลต่อ PSB, PSW และ IBW อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.05) นอกจากนี้ PSW และ IBW ยังได้รับอิทธิพลจากพันธุ์ และเพศของสุกร (p<0.05) สำหรับ LS พบว่าขึ้นอยู่กับอิทธิพลของพันธุ์ของลูกสุกร และกลุ่มของโรงเรือน-ปี-เดือนที่ลูกสุกรเกิด (p<0.05) ค่าอัตราพันธุกรรมของ PSB, PSW, IBW และ LS มีค่าเท่ากับ 0.23 ± 0.02, 0.36 ± 0.03, 0.38 ± 0.03 และ 0.22 ± 0.01 ตามลำดับ ค่าสหสัมพันธ์ทางพันธุกรรมระหว่าง IBW กับ PSB และ PSW มีค่าสูงเท่ากับ 0.77 ± 0.05 และ 0.85 ± 0.05 ตามลำดับ ในขณะที่ค่าสหสัมพันธ์ทางพันธุกรรมระหว่าง PSB กับ PSW มีค่าปานกลางเท่ากับ 0.69 ± 0.14 สำหรับลักษณะรายครอกพบว่าค่าสหสัมพันธ์ทางพันธุกรรมระหว่าง LS กับลักษณะเปอร์เซ็นต์การอยู่รอดของลูกสุกรแรกเกิด (%PSB) เปอร์เซ็นต์การอยู่รอดของลูกสุกรก่อนหย่านม (%PSW) และน้ำหนักแรกเกิดเฉลี่ย (ABW) มีค่าเป็นลบเท่ากับ -0.16 ± 0.03 -0.64 ± 0.02 และ -0.99 ± 0.001 ตามลำดับ จากค่าสหสัมพันธ์ทางพันธุกรรมแสดงให้เห็นว่า การคัดเลือกเพื่อเพิ่มน้ำหนักแรกเกิดของลูกสุกรอาจมีผลทำให้ PSB และ PSW เพิ่มขึ้น แต่หากคัดเลือกเพื่อเพิ่ม LS จะมีผลทำให้ %PSB, %PSW และ ABW ลดลง

Weekly quizzes assess baseline knowledge and had been administered individually and in groups. I hypothesized the discontinuation of group quizzes would increase student effort when preparing for quizzes. Unit exams involve scenario-based questions and require students to apply information. Pestivirus infections have a huge economic impact on livestock production. In 2014, an aborted fetus from a sheep flock suffering from abortus and diarrhea was submitted for virological diagnosis. Due to the positive result of the sample for pestivirus and continuing clinical symptoms in the flock, all of the animals were sampled individually. Blood samples for serum and peripheral blood mononuclear cells were collected from 93 animals (5 rams, 26 lambs, and 62 sheep). The present study was performed to design sucuk production with microencapsulated and free cells of Lactobacillus rhamnosus and to investigate the effect of this production method on probiotic viability and quality characteristics on the final product. L. rhamnosus was microencapsulated with an optimal coating material combination by using response surface methodology and subsequently used in sucuk production as a probiotic culture. Microencapsulation protected L. rhamnosus against gastric and other stress conditions in sucuk composition. Perineal hernia (PH) in dogs normally requires surgical reconstruction of the pelvic diaphragm. The use of fascia lata grafts has been reported and described in previous studies for the correction of PH after failure of the conventional herniorrhaphy. The purpose of this report is to describe a modified technique of fascia lata flap (FLP) for PH repair in dogs. Six client-owned male dogs with PH were included in the study. In this study, a two-step multiplex reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (mRT-PCR) was developed and evaluated using designed primers for the simultaneous detection and differentiation of Turkish foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) serotypes A and O from clinical samples. In the method, a mix of one universal reverse primer designed from the 2B gene and two serotype-specific forward primers designed from the hypervariable regions of the capsid VP1-1D coding gene of FMDV were used. Hematological effects of etomidate and tricaine at concentrations causing general anesthesia or sedation of carp juveniles were compared. Recovery of body balance took similar time in the case of both anesthetics, but fish treated with etomidate were depressed for several hours, while those subjected to tricaine immediately regained normal behavior. Immediately after exposure anesthetics caused minor hematological changes; the only statistically significant effects (decrease of hematocrit and plasma glucose) occurred after sedation with etomidate. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of dietary vitamin D3 supplementation on changes in color and heme pigment (myoglobin and metmyoglobin) in 4 beef muscles. The muscles came from 48 crossbred bulls that were subjected to supplementation with vitamin D3 at 4 different doses: 0.0 (control group), 3.5, 7.0, and 10.0 x 106 IU. Adult adipose derived mesenchymal stromal cells (ASCs) have been characterized in various species. Many factors may affect ASC fate and ASCs from different species may have different response to these factors. The first study was to identify the differences of the canine ASCs isolated from subcutaneous and infrapatellar adipose tissues, and evaluate the impact of cryopreservation on the cells. Based on paired comparisons of fresh and cryopreserved ASCs, cryopreserved ASCs had lower CD29 and CD44 protein expression and lower proliferation rates. The aim of this study is to determine the amount of tear secretion in sheep with infectious keratoconjunctivitis and healthy ones in the Siirt region by Schirmer tear test and phenol red thread tear test. A total of 47 Romanov sheep, consisting of sheep with infectious keratoconjunctivitis (n = 6) and healthy sheep (n = 41), constituted the study material. The present paper studied the effect of screened wheat (SW) levels and a multienzyme diet on Japanese quail performance, intestinal performance, and microbial population. A total of 480 unsexed 10-day-old quail chicks were assigned to a multienzyme diet (0 or 0.5 g/kg) and SW (0%, 5%, 10%, or 15%) in a 2 x 4 factorial arrangement of treatments with 4 replications and 15 quails in each in a completely randomized design. The aim of the present study was to investigate the structural and functional characteristics and possible duplication of the MHC-DQA genes in the Chinese yakow, which is well adapted to the Qinghai?Tibetan Plateau. This study aimed to determine Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar Enteritidis (SE) presence by conventional serotyping and SE-specific real-time PCR (SE-rPCR) in poultry-derived food and avian isolates in our laboratory Salmonella spp. collection.
