This study, entitled "Exploring infertility through art" focuses on researching the use of art to explore the psychogenic, psychological and physiological aspects of infertility and the psychosomatic avenues of expression possibly resulting in, or contributing to, infertility. The term psychogenic means "pertaining to disorders which are functional in origin" (Chaplin, 1973, p. · 391), or "term usually employed of disorders which originate in mental conditions, though they may come to involve physiological changes, as a result of these mental conditions" (Drever, 1978, p. 231). A representative sample of music therapy strategies was developed for use by general music teachers in elementary schools. A literature search was conducted in effective social skills training methods and music therapy techniques. The strageties developed can be used by elementary general music teachers to help improve prosocial skills in students with behavioral disorders.

It is well recognised that children with cancer have special needs. Art therapy has been shown to be effective in meeting some of these needs. An exploratory study was conducted to assess the feasibility of art therapy to address the psychosocial needs of paediatric cancer patients in a medical setting where art therapy has not been practised before. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of using art as therapy, with latency period boys, to develop anger management skills. The respondents for this study were male children selected by an outpatient psychiatric clinic, using the criteria of age (latency period) and problem (anger/aggression). The six subjects assigned to the group agreed to attend a therapy session for one hour per week for six consecutive weeks. The problem of spontaneity in a Jungian art therapy group is addressed in terms of the integration of intuitive/ unconscious processes with the more cognitive aspects of art therapy. An explanation of basic Jungian theory is given, focusing on the process of active imagination, which forms the theoretical framework of the study. Conclusions are based on phenomenological data in conjunction with the writer's cognitive and subjective experiences while running the group.

This paper presents the development and application of the Ongoing Art Therapy Interview (OATI), a structured approach designed to assess and support patients in a psychiatric day hospital setting. The OATI combines the therapeutic and diagnostic dimensions of art therapy by integrating artwork with guided interpersonal dialogue. It is informed by Harry Stack Sullivan’s interpersonal theory of psychiatry, particularly his diagnostic framework for understanding patient experience, communication, and relational patterns.

This thesis investigates the application of art therapy for the evaluation and treatment of emotionally disturbed children, with a specific focus on the use of clay and Media Dimension Variables (MDV). The author posits that clay is an exemplary medium for therapeutic intervention due to its plasticity, three-dimensional nature, and capacity to range from resistive to fluid states. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of twelve, fifty-five-minute sessions of group art therapy on the self-esteem and locus of control (LOC) of delinquent adolescent boys.

A review of the literature revealed that the development of self-esteem and an internal LOC orientation plays an important part in the total psychological development of the adolescent. Several descriptive studies have associated delinquent behavior with feelings of low self-esteem and external LOC beliefs.
