Culinary medicine (CM) addresses diseases through nutrition and culinary education. To promote access to educational material for people with diabetes and engagement in virtual classes, we created a virtual culinary medicine toolkit (VCMT) sensitive to literacy levels and language preferences. The VCMT was developed to accompany existing virtual CM programs and help improve participant interaction and retention, offering educational materials for providers and participants. The provider VCMT offers level-setting education to reduce mixed nutrition messaging, including educational resources discussing inclusive nutrition and mindful eating topics. In the United States, the 40 colleges of osteopathic medicine and 157 schools of allopathic medicine face challenges in recruiting candidates who are underrepresented in medicine (URiM), and gaps in racial disparity appear to be widening. In this commentary, the authors provide an analysis of the data collected from 8 years of conducting a URiM recruitment and welcoming social events. Acute ankle sprains account for nearly 2% of visits to the pediatric emergency department (PED). Background: Fecal occult blood tests (FOBT) are inappropriately used in patients with melena, hematochezia, coffee ground emesis, iron deficiency anemia, and diarrhea. The use of FOBT for reasons other than screening for colorectal cancer is considered low-value and unnecessary. Methods: Quality Improvement Project that utilized education, Best Practice Advisory (BPA) and modification of order sets in the electronic health record (EHR). The interventions were done in a sequential order based on the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) method. An annotated run chart was used to analyze the collected data. Introduction: According to the American Society of Gastroenterology Endoscopy (ASGE), choledocholithiasis is defined as the presence of gallstones in biliary tree. Choledocholithiasis is concomitantly present in approximately 1 to 10 percent of patients with cholelithiasis. Choledocholithiasis can be described as small <15 >mm, large >15 mm, and difficult due to anatomic location, impaction, or unusual hardness/ shape. Choledocholithiasis is managed endoscopically with large balloon papillary dilation, cholangioscopy-guided intraductal laser and electrohydraulic lithotripsy (EHL), and escalation to laparoscopic common bile duct exploration, if endoscopic procedures fail. Background: The optimization of medical training is a critical concern amid dynamic shifts in both medical and societal landscapes. Research indicates that a substantial proportion of medical trainees experience stress, anxiety, and depression, with an estimated depression rate of 29% among medical residents, compared to 8% among nonphysicians. Furthermore, the suicide rate among physicians is twice that of the general population. Difficulty in adapting to new environments, responsibilities, and training levels exacerbate these challenges. This study evaluates the efficacy of "The Intern Survival Handbook" in mitigating stressors among new trainees, enhancing their work performance, and promoting overall mental health. Methods: …

The study aimed to assess the parental perception of improvement in prelinguistic skills in children with Autism Spectrum disorder [ASD] after 1 and 2 months of Goal Directed Cognitive Approach. This was assessed by a questionnaire filled by parents of 26 consecutive ASD kids at a neurodevelopmental center. Parents were asked to rate these skills on a Likert scale of 1-5 before and after 1 month and 2 months of GDCA to check for any improvement. 69% of ASD kids were boys. Acquired hemolytic anemia, caused by external factors like autoimmune disorders or infections, includes rare cases of Cold Agglutinin Syndrome (CAS), a cold-antibody-mediated condition affecting 1 in 1 million annually. This report highlights a unique case of CAS in a patient with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and polyclonal gammopathy, contrasting with the typical presentation of warm-reactive autoantibodies and monoclonal antibodies. The patient presented with weakness, breathlessness, and splenomegaly, with laboratory findings showing a hemoglobin level of 5.8 g/dL and elevated ferritin. Imaging revealed mesenteric lymphadenopathy and thickening of the cecum, suggesting possible lymphomatous involvement. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma was confirmed via lymph node biopsy. This …
