The insertion of peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVCs) is common for treatment among hospitalized patients. However, this procedure usually fails before the end of therapy because of several complications, including phlebitis. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the incidence and associated factors of phlebitis among patients with PIVC. A prospective cohort study was conducted in one of the hospitals located in East Coast Malaysia. The presence of phlebitis was assessed using the visual infusion phlebitis score checklist. The Family Navigator Program (FNP) is designed to help families navigate the complex system of services available to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), chronic health conditions, mental health issues, and other special health care needs. Cell−surface polysaccharides are essential to many aspects of physiology, serving as a highly conserved evolutionary feature of life and as an important part of the innate immune system in mammals. Here, as simplified biophysical models of these sugar coatings, we present results of molecular dynamics simulations of hyaluronic acid and heparin brushes that show important effects of ion pairing, water dielectric decrease, and coion exclusion. As in prior studies of macromolecular crowding under physiologically relevant salt concentrations, our results show equilibria with electroneutrality attained through screening and pairing of brush anionic charges by monovalent cations at the atomistic detail. Introduction. Wound care practices for neonatal and pediatric patients have created a lack of standardized evidence-based guidelines for treatments in clinical practices. Unfortunately, published clinical guidelines for the evaluation and management of wounds in pediatric populations is limited. Consensus groups are used to develop clinical guidelines which define key aspects of the quality of health care, particularly appropriate indications for interventions. BACKGROUND: Sexting is an increasingly common phenomenon among adolescents and young adults. Some studies have investigated the role of personality traits in different sexting behaviors within mainstream personality taxonomies like Big Five and HEXACO. However, very few studies have investigated the role of maladaptive personality factors in sexting. Therefore, the present study investigated the relationship between Dark Triad Personality Traits and experimental (i.e., sharing own sexts), risky (i.e., sexting under substance use and with strangers), and aggravated sexting (i.e., non-consensual sexting and sexting under pressure) across 11 countries.

Objective: The objective of this study is to describe the algorithm and technical implementation of a mobile app that uses adaptive testing to assess an efficient mobile app for the diagnosis of delirium.

Materials and Methods: The app was used as part of a NIH-funded project to assess the feasibility, effectiveness, administration time, and costs of the 2-step delirium identification protocol when performed by physicians and nurses, and certified nursing assistants (CNA). An important area in healthcare to which data analytics can be applied is chronic disease management. The chronic care model is mostly patient-centric, so patients have been considered as the end users of data analytics. The information needs of healthcare providers have been overlooked. Drawing upon the theory of informedness and the transtheoretical model of health behavior change, we use a multicase study approach to investigate the information needs of different caregiving stakeholders in the spectrum of chronic diseases, and how data analytics can be designed to meet the varying needs of professionals and staff to support their informedness.

Applying 'Earable' Inertial Sensing For Real-Time Head Posture Detection, Meeralakshmi Radhakrishnan, Kushaan Misra, V. Ravichandran

We explore the use of personal earable devices for detecting and correcting incorrect head postures, which can trigger the medical condition of “Forward Head Posture”. We demonstrate how the gyroscope and accelerometer sensors on an earable device can be used to detect episodes where the head is rotated sufficiently forward, for significantly long durations (> 30secs), and then generate suitable audio-based corrective feedback. Using a small-scale preliminary study, we show that our approach is promising as it provides both high precision (100%) & recall (89%).

Introduction: Multiple algorithms based on 12-lead ECG measurements have been proposed to identify the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) and left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) locations from which ventricular tachycardia (VT) and frequent premature ventricular complex (PVC) originate. However, a clinical-grade machine learning algorithm that automatically analyzes characteristics of 12-lead ECGs and predicts RVOT or LVOT origins of VT and PVC is not currently available. The effective ablation sites of RVOT and LVOT, confirmed by a successful ablation procedure, provide evidence to create RVOT and LVOT labels for the machine learning model.
