The prevalence of obesity in women of reproductive age (20 to 39) in the US is 39.7%. It has been estimated that one-quarter of pregnancy complications are attributable to maternal obesity. Comprehensive prenatal care is imperative to achieving positive health outcomes. This quality improvement (QI) initiative aimed to improve antenatal fetal surveillance rates in patients with class III obesity. Evidence based interventions to test fetal wellbeing were implemented and examined over a 7 month time period to evaluate physician compliance of the standard of care for antenatal surveillance starting at 34 weeks gestation. Background: Crowding in the emergency department has been a prevalent issue for decades, however, over the last few years, crowding and the number of patient visits in EDs have been higher than normal. Among Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) acquired in the hospital, approximately 75% are associated with a urinary catheter, which is a tube inserted into the bladder through the urethra to drain urine. Between 15-25% of hospitalized patients receive urinary catheters during their hospital stay. A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection involving any part of the urinary system, including urethra, bladder, ureters, and kidney. UTIs are the most common type of healthcare-associated infection reported to the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). Background: The current guidelines of the American society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and College of American Pathologists (CAP) regarding laboratory testing of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and HER-2 in breast cancer have been in place since 2010. Optimal tissue handling requires a cold ischemic time of less than 1 hour and a formalin fixation time between 6 and 72 hours. In July 2023 HCA Westside hospital implemented a new Formalin Fixation Time documentation protocol. The data is presented quarterly at the Cancer Committee meeting.

Background: The optimization of medical training is a critical concern amid dynamic shifts in both medical and societal landscapes. Research indicates that a substantial proportion of medical trainees experience stress, anxiety, and depression, with an estimated depression rate of 29% among medical residents, compared to 8% among nonphysicians. Furthermore, the suicide rate among physicians is twice that of the general population. Difficulty in adapting to new environments, responsibilities, and training levels exacerbate these challenges. Title: Do pediatric patients that receive dexmedetomidine as premedication experience less emergence delirium than pediatric patients that receive midazolam as premedication?

Problem Statement: Midazolam remains the current choice within the practice for premedication in the prevention of emergence delirium, however as research continues there could possibly be a gap between the research and current practice. Throughout the practice of pediatric anesthesia most providers choose to premedicate with midazolam while there may be a more beneficial option of dexmedetomidine.

Introduction: A diverse workforce improves health care, educational outcomes, and research agendas. Currently, faculty from historically excluded groups remain underrepresented in academic medicine. Resources are needed in academic medical centers for those charged with recruiting and retaining a diverse and talented workforce. Methods: Informed by the successful use of holistic review in medical student admissions, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) developed and piloted a toolkit for use in faculty recruitment and retention at five academic medical centers. This study examines IVF and non-IVF costs associated with prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care using claims data from Merative MarketScan Commercial and Encounter data from 2018-2020 to understand the costs associated with respective IVF singleton, twin, and multiple gestations, as compared to non-IVF singleton gestations. These patients identified as females at birth, were continuously enrolled in private insurance, and have not experienced termination of pregnancy. The Student T-test was performed on continuous variables, and logistic regression was performed on binary variables with the overall outcome variables being cost, IVF, and non-IVF, controlling for age. This research unpacks the challenges and motivations of telehealth usage among older consumers—an understudied population in the extant telehealth literature. Through surveying a sample of older consumers who regularly migrate to winter in the southern areas of the United States, our qualitative analysis uncovers motivations (i.e., convenience, ease of use, efficiency, and a forced option) and challenges (i.e., telehealth limitations, privacy concerns, and lack of trust, access, and skills) of older consumers’ telehealth usage. Further, logistic regression identifies attitude toward telehealth, gender, and health status as significant predictors of telehealth usage behavior. Contributions to theory and practice are also discussed.

Background: In the United States (U.S.), falls are the leading cause of injury among adults 65 and over, resulting in 36 million falls yearly (Moreland et al., 2020). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2023), one in four older adults experiences a fall each year. Falls are the world's second most prominent cause of accidental deaths (World Health Organization [WHO], 2021). Falls are the leading cause of both fatal and non-fatal injuries among older adults (Moreland et al., 2020).

St. Xavier High School has approximately 900 student-athletes and two certified athletic trainers. On any given day the athletic trainers may see between 50 and 60 student-athletes. The high volume of athletes results in some smaller tasks being forgotten. One task that has not been done as frequently as necessary is cleaning treatment tables after each use. According to the CDC, patient tables should be cleaned between each patient.
