Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic multi-system inflammatory disease of which is characterized by articular and extra-articular involvement. Patients with RA have a higher risk of mortality when compared with the general population, which is due predominantly to increased cardiovascular disease. Due to the higher incidence of CVD and MI in RA patients it has been postulated that enhanced systemic inflammation plays an important role in the pathogenesis of CVD in RA patients. Objective: This study aimed to compare surgical margin analysis on final pathology in robotic assisted approach hysterectomy vs. all other approaches in early-stage cervical cancer.

Methods: Patients with clinical early-stage disease who underwent total and radical hysterectomy from the years 2018-2023 were categorized into robotic assisted approach group (RAH) vs all other approaches including laparoscopic hysterectomy (LAH), laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH), and open hysterectomy (TAH). Fisher’s exact test was used for analysis of the primary outcome measure.

Intestinal tuberculosis (ITB) is an underrecognized disease that shares many clinical, radiologic, endoscopic, and pathologic features with Crohn's disease, making differentiation difficult. This poses a significant problem as initiation of immunosuppressives for an assumed diagnosis of CD in a patient with ITB can lead to exacerbation of infection and life-threatening consequences. A 30-year-old Nepali man with a medical history only significant for Raynaud disease presented with a febrile illness, right lower quadrant abdominal pain, and productive cough over the course of a month. BACKGROUND: Recurrent glioblastoma (rGBM) has limited treatment options. This phase 1 protocol was designed to study the safety and preliminary efficacy of TPI 287, a central nervous system penetrant microtubule stabilizer, in combination with bevacizumab (BEV) for the treatment of rGBM.

METHODS: GBM patients with up to 2 prior relapses without prior exposure to anti-angiogenic therapy were eligible. A standard 3 + 3 design was utilized to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of TPI 287. Cohorts received TPI 287 at 140-220 mg/m

Filipino Americans (FAs), the third-largest Asian subgroup in U.S., face an elevated burden of dyslipidemia, a primary modifiable risk factor for heart disease. Objectives: This community-based study addresses critical knowledge gaps by characterizing the cardiometabolic and genetic factors contributing to dyslipidemia among FAs and implications for personalized cardiovascular drug therapies, particularly statin pharmacogenomics (PGx). Objectives: Individuals living with HIV are at a higher risk for developing human papillomavirus-driven oropharyngeal cancer (HPV-OPC). There are no methods for early detection; however, HPV16 E6 antibodies have been identified as a promising early marker. The objective of this study was to evaluate seroprevalence and predictors of HPV16 E6 seropositivity among men living with HIV.

Methods:2,334 men aged 40+ living with HIV with blood specimens banked within the Tennessee Center for AIDS Research (TN-CFAR) biorepository were evaluated using HPV multiplex serology. Seroprevalence of HPV16 antibodies was calculated for all HPV16 proteins analyzed (L1, E1, E2, E4, E6, E7). …

This study explores the correlation between the DRD2 Polymorphism exon 8 C/T (rs6276) and manifestations of delirium tremens (DT). DT is a condition that is clinically diagnosed utilizing two characteristic symptom manifestations: the presence of delirium and severe alcohol withdrawal. ยุงลายบ้านเป็นพาหะสำคัญของโรคที่เกิดจากไวรัส เช่น โรคไข้เลือดออก โรคชิคุนกุนยา และโรคซิกา ก่อให้เกิดการเจ็บป่วยและเสียชีวิตทั่วโลก ไม่กี่ปีที่ผ่านมามีรายงานว่าสาหร่ายขนาดเล็กสามารถยับยั้งการเจริญของลูกน้ำยุงและส่งผลต่อจุลินทรีย์ในกระเพาะอาหารของยุง ซึ่งเป็นแนวทางในการพัฒนากลยุทธ์ใหม่สำหรับควบคุมพาหะนำโรค เพื่อแยก เพาะเลี้ยง และตรวจสอบความสัมพันธ์และความหลากหลายของสาหร่ายขนาดเล็กและจุลินทรีย์ในกระเพาะอาหารของลูกน้ำยุงและน้ำจากแหล่งเพาะพันธุ์ยุงลายบ้าน จากจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช โดยใช้กล้องจุลทรรศน์แบบใช้แสงและเทคนิคเมตาบาร์โค้ด พบสาหร่ายขนาดเล็ก 10 สกุล ด้วยกล้องจุลทรรศน์แบบใช้แสง และด้วยเทคนิคเมตาบาร์โค้ด 25 สกุล รวมถึงไดอะตอมในอันดับ Achnanthales โดยพบสาหร่ายขนาดเล็กจากทั้ง 2 วิธี 4 สกุล ได้แก่ Tetradesmus, Nannochloropsis, Monoraphidium และ Leptolyngbya และมี 2 สกุล คือ Tetradesmus และ Leptolyngbya ที่พบจากทั้งกระเพาะอาหารและแหล่งเพาะพันธุ์ของยุงลายบ้าน ส่วนจุลินทรีย์พบทั้งหมด 18 ไฟลัม โดยพบมากที่สุดทั้งในกระเพาะอาหารลูกน้ำและในน้ำจากแหล่งเพาะพันธุ์ยุงเดียวกัน ได้แก่ ไฟลัม Proteobacteria, Planctomycetota และ Actinobacteriota ตามลำดับ สะท้อนถึงความสอดคล้องขององค์ประกอบจุลินทรีย์ระหว่างสิ่งแวดล้อมและตัวอ่อนของยุง บ่งชี้ถึงความเชื่อมโยงทางชีวภาพระหว่างสิ่งแวดล้อมและลูกน้ำยุงลายบ้าน ซึ่งนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ในการพัฒนาวิธีควบคุมลูกน้ำยุงอย่างยั่งยืนและเป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมได้

California schools currently only screen for vision and hearing, leaving many other health concerns unaddressed. Among these, gastrointestinal (GI) health is particularly significant, as digestive disorders can lead to severe consequences, like malnutrition and stunted growth. By incorporating routine GI screenings, school nurses can promote the early detection of disease, allowing for timely intervention and improved health outcomes in children.

Based on existing literature, we have developed a novel pediatric GI screening tool for school nurses to use in routine screenings, presented below.

Background: Hypertension (HTN) that is not adequately controlled leads to cardiovascular disease, stroke, and heart disease. It affects 116 million adults (47%) in the United States (U.S.). The HTN compliance rate in a South Texas public health clinic was 64%, below the national benchmark of 76%. Home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) was recommended in a joint statement by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Medical Association (AMA). Literature evidence revealed that the HBPM bundle increased BP control (< 140/90 mmHg) compliance.

Autistic adults are at higher risk of being diagnosed with co-occurring health conditions, and yet they are a vulnerable group for disparities in access and outcomes. One of the key barriers to better outcomes is poor patient-provider communication. This study the use of AASPIRE’s AHAT communication toolkit as a channel between healthcare workers and autistic adults to facilitate their appointments within the outpatient oncology department, as well as assessing healthcare providers’ knowledge and self-efficacy in caring for the patients.
