Background: The authors examined adults' perceptions about the importance of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in preventing oropharyngeal cancers and dental care providers' role in HPV prevention and identified associated factors.

Methods: Adults (≥ 18 years) completed a national survey of consumer and patient attitudes, experiences, and behaviors on oral health. Descriptive and multivariable logistic regression models determined associations between perceptions regarding HPV and attitudes toward dental care providers' role and HPV knowledge, HPV vaccine recommendation, and sociodemographic characteristics.

Objective: Subscribing to colour-blind racial attitudes may contribute to inequities in the delivery of oral care and affect treatment of diverse patients. The purpose of this study was to survey all entry-level dental hygiene students in one state to determine colour-blind racial attitudes.

Methods: After IRB approval, a convenience sample of 219 dental hygiene students in all entry-level programmes in Virginia were invited to participate in this cross-sectional study. The Colour-Blind Racial Attitudes Scale (CoBRAS), an effective, validated measuring instrument, was used to quantify unawareness of contemporary racist ideals. Objectives: This study aimed to three-dimensionally analyze the effects of pre-surgical nasoalveolar molding in unilateral cleft lip and palate patients. Methods: The sample was collected from three centers and consisted of 132 digital dental casts of patients pre- and post- NAM. Landmarks and measurements were identified on each cast and the changes from pre- to post-NAM were recorded and analyzed. Objective: This study aimed to fabricate and characterize a novel periodontal barrier nanofibers-based bio-membrane using electrospinning.

Materials and Methods: The matrix solution was prepared from poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) incorporating hydroxyapatite, hyaluronic acid, collagen, L-arginine and vanillin to fabricate composite membrane. Subsequently the elemental analysis, viscosity, conductivity and surface tension of solutions before spinning were evaluated. The physicochemical and mechanical properties were characterized using UV-VIS spectroscopy, scan electron microscope (SEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and tensile strength. The objective of this review was to examine the impact of instrument designs on pinch force generation during scaling by dental professionals.

Methods

Three databases were utilized from September 2019 to November 2021 in addition to hand-searching specific journals and reference lists. Research articles that examined pinch force generation in dental professionals during scaling with manual instruments only were included. Bias was assessed in the individual articles.

Results

High-risk human papillomaviruses (HPV), like HPV16 and HPV18, are associated with malignant cancer growth within the oropharynx and cervix. Globally, HPV-induced cancers, including oropharyngeal and cervical cancers, contribute 5% to the overwhelming burden of all cancers. HPV is highly transmissible by sexual contact via micro abrasions to the mucosa. Once exposure occurs, the virus begins replication and creates an intimate relationship with the host’s cellular proteins. While most HPV is cleared quickly by our immune system, persistent infections, or infections in immune compromised individuals, are susceptible to transformation and tumor progression. This in vitro study aimed to investigate the effect of different chromium metal alloys on enamel wear through longitudinal observation across various simulated chewing cycles. Four groups of alloys were studied (n=10 per group): casting Ni-Cr alloys (NC), casting Co-Cr alloys (CC), SLM Co-Cr alloys (CS), and heat-treated SLM Co-Cr alloys (CS-H). The test simulated chewing of enamel cusps against the alloys in distilled water under specific conditions (49 N load, 0.7 mm sliding movement, and 1.6 Hz frequency). งานวิจัยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบกําลังแรงยึดเฉือนระหว่างแบร็กเกตจัดฟันโลหะกับครอบฟันชั่วคราวชนิดต่าง ๆ ที่ใช้การปรับสภาพพื้นผิวที่แตกต่างกัน เตรียมวัสดุบูรณะครอบฟันชั่วคราว 3 ชนิด ได้แก่ พอลิเมทิลเมทาคริเลตชนิดบ่มด้วยตัวเอง (Unifast™ Trad) พอลิเมทิลเมทาคริเลตชนิดแคดแคม (CADCAM VIPI Block) และเรซินคอมโพสิตชนิดบิสเอคริล (Protemp™ 4) จำนวน 4 กลุ่ม กลุ่มละ 11 ชิ้น นำวัสดุปรับสภาพพื้นผิวด้วยการทามอนอเมอร์เมทิลเมทาคริเลต การเป่าผงอะลูมินัมออกไซด์ การใช้เข็มกรอกากเพชร และกลุ่มที่ไม่ได้ถูกปรับสภาพพื้นผิวเป็นกลุ่มควบคุม นำชิ้นงานตรวจความหยาบของพื้นผิวและส่องด้วยกล้องจุลทรรศน์อิเล็กตรอนแบบส่องกราด ทำการยึดติดแบร็กเกตจัดฟันโลหะด้วยเรซินแอดฮีซีฟทรานสบอนด์ เอ็กซ์ที นำไปทดสอบค่ากำลังแรงยึดเฉือนด้วยเครื่องทดสอบอเนกประสงค์โดยใช้ความเร็วในการทดสอบที่ 1 มิลลิเมตรต่อนาที ศึกษาดัชนีส่วนเหลือของสารยึดติดด้วยกล้องจุลทรรศน์ชนิดสเตอริโอ วิเคราะห์ด้วยสถิติการวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนแบบสองทางที่ระดับนัยสําคัญ 0.05 และเปรียบเทียบแต่ละกลุ่มโดยใช้สถิติ Games-Howell test ผลการศึกษาพบว่าวัสดุบิสเอคริลการเป่าผงอะลูมินัมออกไซด์มีค่ากำลังแรงยึดเฉือนสูงที่สุด ตามมาด้วยการใช้เข็มกรอกากเพชร และการทามอนอเมอร์ ตามลำดับ วัสดุพอลิเมทิลเมทาคริเลตชนิดแคดแคมการเป่าผงอะลูมินัมออกไซด์มีค่ากำลังแรงยึดเฉือนสูงที่สุด ตามด้วยการทามอนอเมอร์ และการใช้เข็มกรอกากเพชร ตามลำดับ และวัสดุพอลิเมทิลเมทาคริเลตชนิดบ่มด้วยตัวเองการทามอนอเมอร์และการเป่าผงอะลูมินัมออกไซด์ มีค่ากำลังแรงยึดเฉือนสูงที่สุดโดยไม่แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ตามด้วยการใช้เข็มกรอกากเพชร ดังนั้นการปรับสภาพพื้นผิวด้วยการเป่าผงอะลูมินัมออกไซด์มีประสิทธิภาพในการเพิ่มแรงยึดติดแบร็กเกตจัดฟันมากที่สุด ในพอลิเมทิลเมทาคริเลตชนิดบ่มด้วยตัวเองควรทามอนอเมอร์เมทิลเมทาคริเลตเพิ่มเติม และวัสดุบิสเอคริลมีแรงยึดติดกับแบร็กเกตจัดฟันมากที่สุดหลังปรับสภาพพื้นผิวเชิงกล

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease induced by dysbiotic dental biofilms. Management of periodontitis is primarily anti-bacterial via mechanical removal of bacterial biofilm. The successful resolution requires wound healing and tissue regeneration, which are not always achieved with these traditional methods.
