The oral microbiome is an important predictor of health and disease. We recently reported significant yet modest effects of HIV under highly active antiretroviral therapy (ART) on the oral microbiome (bacterial and fungal) in a large cohort of HIV-positive (HIV+) and matched HIV-negative (HIV-) individuals. Background: Surface roughness of dental implants impacts the survival of adult periodontal stem cells and rate of differentiation. This research was conducted to test how human periodontal ligament stem cells behaved on yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) discs with different surface topographies. Methods: Discs roughening was prepared by sandblasting. Stem cells were cultivated on zirconia discs with a polished surface, PEEK discs with a polished surface, sandblasted zirconia discs and sandblasted PEEK discs. This in vitro study aimed to investigate the effect of different chromium metal alloys on enamel wear through longitudinal observation across various simulated chewing cycles. Four groups of alloys were studied (n=10 per group): casting Ni-Cr alloys (NC), casting Co-Cr alloys (CC), SLM Co-Cr alloys (CS), and heat-treated SLM Co-Cr alloys (CS-H). The test simulated chewing of enamel cusps against the alloys in distilled water under specific conditions (49 N load, 0.7 mm sliding movement, and 1.6 Hz frequency). งานวิจัยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบกําลังแรงยึดเฉือนระหว่างแบร็กเกตจัดฟันโลหะกับครอบฟันชั่วคราวชนิดต่าง ๆ ที่ใช้การปรับสภาพพื้นผิวที่แตกต่างกัน เตรียมวัสดุบูรณะครอบฟันชั่วคราว 3 ชนิด ได้แก่ พอลิเมทิลเมทาคริเลตชนิดบ่มด้วยตัวเอง (Unifast™ Trad) พอลิเมทิลเมทาคริเลตชนิดแคดแคม (CADCAM VIPI Block) และเรซินคอมโพสิตชนิดบิสเอคริล (Protemp™ 4) จำนวน 4 กลุ่ม กลุ่มละ 11 ชิ้น นำวัสดุปรับสภาพพื้นผิวด้วยการทามอนอเมอร์เมทิลเมทาคริเลต การเป่าผงอะลูมินัมออกไซด์ การใช้เข็มกรอกากเพชร และกลุ่มที่ไม่ได้ถูกปรับสภาพพื้นผิวเป็นกลุ่มควบคุม นำชิ้นงานตรวจความหยาบของพื้นผิวและส่องด้วยกล้องจุลทรรศน์อิเล็กตรอนแบบส่องกราด ทำการยึดติดแบร็กเกตจัดฟันโลหะด้วยเรซินแอดฮีซีฟทรานสบอนด์ เอ็กซ์ที นำไปทดสอบค่ากำลังแรงยึดเฉือนด้วยเครื่องทดสอบอเนกประสงค์โดยใช้ความเร็วในการทดสอบที่ 1 มิลลิเมตรต่อนาที ศึกษาดัชนีส่วนเหลือของสารยึดติดด้วยกล้องจุลทรรศน์ชนิดสเตอริโอ วิเคราะห์ด้วยสถิติการวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนแบบสองทางที่ระดับนัยสําคัญ 0.05 และเปรียบเทียบแต่ละกลุ่มโดยใช้สถิติ Games-Howell test ผลการศึกษาพบว่าวัสดุบิสเอคริลการเป่าผงอะลูมินัมออกไซด์มีค่ากำลังแรงยึดเฉือนสูงที่สุด ตามมาด้วยการใช้เข็มกรอกากเพชร และการทามอนอเมอร์ ตามลำดับ วัสดุพอลิเมทิลเมทาคริเลตชนิดแคดแคมการเป่าผงอะลูมินัมออกไซด์มีค่ากำลังแรงยึดเฉือนสูงที่สุด ตามด้วยการทามอนอเมอร์ และการใช้เข็มกรอกากเพชร ตามลำดับ และวัสดุพอลิเมทิลเมทาคริเลตชนิดบ่มด้วยตัวเองการทามอนอเมอร์และการเป่าผงอะลูมินัมออกไซด์ มีค่ากำลังแรงยึดเฉือนสูงที่สุดโดยไม่แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ตามด้วยการใช้เข็มกรอกากเพชร ดังนั้นการปรับสภาพพื้นผิวด้วยการเป่าผงอะลูมินัมออกไซด์มีประสิทธิภาพในการเพิ่มแรงยึดติดแบร็กเกตจัดฟันมากที่สุด ในพอลิเมทิลเมทาคริเลตชนิดบ่มด้วยตัวเองควรทามอนอเมอร์เมทิลเมทาคริเลตเพิ่มเติม และวัสดุบิสเอคริลมีแรงยึดติดกับแบร็กเกตจัดฟันมากที่สุดหลังปรับสภาพพื้นผิวเชิงกล

The quality of bone healing is an important factor in dental implant treatment. Currently, there is only limited research on using mRNA encoding BMP-2 to improve the quality and quantity of bone. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of bone healing in rat femur defect after delivery of dPBS, rhBMP-2 and mRNA-encoding BMP-2 (BMP-2 mRNA-LNP). Histology approach was used to measure the quantity of newly formed bone. RT-qPCR was used to study gene expression levels of BMP-2, OCN, BSP and TNF-α. This research evaluates the effectiveness of a modified mRNA encoding bone morphogenetic protein-2 (m1Ψ-BMP-2 mRNA) with N1-methylpseudouridine modifications on bone regeneration and integration after implantation into rat femur defects. In the study, twelve femurs from six Sprague-Dawley rats underwent titanium wire insertation. These femur defects were then filled with either 5 μg of m1Ψ-BMP-2 mRNA, 15 μg of m1Ψ-BMP-2 mRNA, or Dulbecco's phosphate-buffered saline (dPBS) in a randomized manner (N=4 each group) Six weeks post-implantation, the rats were euthanized for evaluation using micro-computed tomography and a mechanical push-out test. This study aims to assess the implant of varying angulations and insertion-removal cycles on the retentive force of 2 denture attachments. The blocks were produced via 3D printing and divided into 2 groups: the LOCATOR attachment with orange retentive inserts and the LOCATOR R-Tx attachment with pink retentive inserts. Soft tissue is one of many factors that influence the esthetic success of dental implants. This study explores soft tissue reaction between soft tissue covering bone grafted with xenograft and soft tissue in normal healing by analyzing the levels of inflammatory cytokine including TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8 and NF-kB1. Soft tissues are collected after 4 to 6 months of healing and analyzed by reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). In the event of proximal contact loss in a zirconia crown on an implant, the zirconia crown can be modified by adding porcelain to recreate the proximal contact. This study investigated the shear bond strength between translucent zirconia (4Y-PSZ) and veneering porcelain compared to conventional zirconia (3Y-TZP). Zirconia substructures were treated with airborne-particle abrasion with Al2O3. The results of the shear bond strength test were analyzed by One-way ANOVA and post-hoc comparisons with Tukey’s honest significant difference (HSD) test. In this study, we evaluated the esthetic perceptions of prosthodontists, general practitioners, and laypeople in elderly smile, using varying the exposure of the maxillary incisors in rest position and a full smile, size of buccal corridor and gingival display of maxillary posterior teeth. The picture of elderly smile was modified and shown with randomized sequence. Participants are asked to rate each image by using a numerical visual analog scale (0-10 scale). Background: Orofacial Esthetic Scale (OES) is used to test psychometric properties of Indian population and Indian version of Psychosocial Impact of Dental Aesthetic Questionnaire (PIDAQ) for psychometric evaluation. The aim of this study is to develop Orofacial Esthetic Scale (OES) in Indian version, to test psychometric properties of individuals in the cultural environment in central India.

ความสวยงามในเรื่องสีของฟันเป็นสิ่งหนึ่งที่ผู้ป่วยให้ความสำคัญเมื่อมารับการรักษาทางทันตกรรม โดยการเปลี่ยนสีฟันด้วยสิ่งบูรณะฟันโดยตรง ซึ่งเป็นการบูรณะฟันโดยตรงในช่องปากโดยใช้เรซินคอมโพสิต เป็นทางเลือกในการรักษาที่มีความนิยมมากขึ้น เนื่องจากมีการทำอันตรายต่อฟันน้อยที่สุด แต่ความสามารถในการปิดสีของเรซินคอมโพสิตอาจมีความแตกต่างกันไปตามแต่ละชนิด ถ้าสามารถเลือกชนิดของเรซินคอมโพสิตที่ปิดสีได้ดีในความหนาที่น้อย ก็จะช่วยลดการสูญเสียโครงสร้างฟันได้ งานวิจัยนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบสีภายหลังการบูรณะด้วยชนิดของเรซินคอมโพสิตที่แตกต่างกัน โดยการนำเรซินคอมโพสิต 3 ชนิด ได้แก่ เคลียร์ฟิลเอพีเอ็กซ์, เมต้าฟิลซีเอ็กซ์ และฟิลเท็คซีทูไฟว์ซีโร่ ที่มีความหนา 4 ระดับ ได้แก่ 0.5, 1, 1.5 และ 2 มิลลิเมตร มาเปรียบเทียบความสามารถในการปิดสี โดยวัดด้วยตามนุษย์และเครื่องสเปกโทรโฟโตมิเตอร์ และประเมินความแตกต่างโดยใช้การทดสอบแบบครัสคัล-วอลลิสและการวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนทางเดียว ผลการศึกษาพบความแตกต่างอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับความเชื่อมั่นร้อยละ 95 ระหว่างกลุ่มเรซินคอมโพสิตและความหนาที่ต่างกัน กล่าวโดยสรุป เรซินคอมโพสิตชนิดเมต้าฟิลซีเอ็กซ์มีความสามารถในการปิดสีเข้มสุด A6 ได้ดีกว่าเรซินคอมโพสิตชนิดเคลียร์ฟิลเอพีเอ็กซ์และฟิลเท็คซีทูไฟว์ซีโร่ในทุกระดับความหนา โดยเรซินคอมโพสิตชนิดเมต้าฟิลซีเอ็กซ์ที่ความหนาประมาณ 1.5 – 2 มิลลิเมตร สามารถบูรณะฟันสี A6 ให้ได้สีฟันที่ระดับ A1

This study was to investigate the tensile bond strength (TBS) of autopolymerized, heat-polymerized, milled, and 3D printed denture base materials bonded to 2 acrylic-based and 2 silicone-based denture liners, both before and after thermocycling. Four different denture base materials (Palapress (PL), Vertex Rapid Simplified (VR), Smile CAM total prosthesis (SC), and NextDent denture 3D+ (ND)) bonded to 2 acrylic-based (GC Soft-Liner (GC) and Tokuyama Rebase II (RB)) and 2 silicone-based (Ufi Gel P (UP) and Sofreliner Tough M (ST)) denture liners were tested. This study focused on understanding the oral health and dental prostheses status of patients with mild to moderate dementia at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. A total of 88 patients participated in this cross-sectional study, which utilized the Oral Health Assessment Tool (OHAT) and modified CDA score to evaluate the oral health of patients with a dementia diagnosis. The study revealed significant oral health issues among participants, particularly in terms of gum and oral tissue problems, and oral cleanliness. การศึกษานี้เป็นการศึกษาไปข้างหน้าจากเหตุไปหาผลในผู้ป่วยเข้ารับการรักษารับการรักษาทางทันตกรรรมประดิษฐ์จำนวน 87 คน ผลลัพธ์ของการศึกษาคือคุณภาพชีวิตในมิติสุขภาพช่องปากและคุณภาพชีวิตในมิติสุขภาพ โดยใช้ดัชนีประเมินผลกระทบของสุขภาพช่องปากต่อสมรรถภาพในชีวิตประจำวันและเครื่องมือวัดคุณภาพชีวิตขององค์การอนามัยโลกฉบับย่อ ตามลำดับ ตัวแปรร่วม ได้แก่ ลักษณะทั่วไป สภาวะสุขภาพและสภาวะสุขภาพช่องปาก เก็บข้อมูลโดยการสัมภาษณ์ การตรวจในช่องปากและการศึกษาจากแฟ้มประวัติ หลังการแก้ไขฟันเทียมครั้งสุดท้าย 1 เดือน เก็บข้อมูลคุณภาพชีวิตในมิติสุขภาพช่องปากและคุณภาพชีวิตในมิติสุขภาพโดยการสัมภาษณ์ทางโทรศัพท์ ใช้การทดสอบของการทดสอบวิลคอกซันวิเคราะห์การเปลี่ยนแปลงของคะเเนน OIDP และ WHOQOL-BREF เวลาก่อนและหลังการรักษา ข้อมูลทั้งหมดวิเคราะห์ที่ระดับนัยสำคัญร้อยละ 5 ผลการศึกษาแสดงว่าหลังการรักษาผู้เข้าร่วมการศึกษามีคะแนน OIDP รวมลดลงอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ และคะแนน WHOQOL-BREF รวมเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ โดยที่เวลาก่อนการรักษาปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อคะแนน OIDP รวมคือจำนวนฟันธรรมชาติและจำนวนคู่สบฟันหลัง ในขณะที่ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อคะแนน WHOQOL-BREF รวมคือสถานภาพสมรสและความเพียงพอของรายได้ จึงสรุปได้ว่าภายหลังการรักษาทางทันตกรรมประดิษฐ์ผู้ป่วยมีคุณภาพชีวิตในมิติสุขภาพช่องปากและคุณภาพชีวิตในมิติสุขภาพดีขึ้น

Objective: To investigate the effect of various surface treatments and different application times on shear bond strength between polyetheretherketone and composite resin. Methods: A total of 110 disc-shaped polyetheretherketone specimens were randomly divided into 9 groups and 4 different surface treatments (control, sandblasting, tribochemical silica coating, sulfuric acid) were applied. The sandblasting, tribochemical silica coating, and sulfuric acid processes were performed 3 different times (10s, 15s, 20s). Purpose: The objective is to assess how the bond between metal and ceramic is impacted by recasting the base metal alloy. Materials and Methods: A total of 78 metal-ceramic specimens were created using beryllium-free nickel-chromium alloy from Dentalloy International Pvt Ltd.
