Feasibility Of Using Participant Owned Smartphone Features To Conduct Ecological Momentary Assessment Of Planned Exercise Behavior In College-Aged Adults, Lucas F. Sheridan, Lindsay Toth, Kelley Strohacker
Pursuit - The Journal of Undergraduate Research at The University of Tennessee
Background: Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) allows input of affective, social, and behavioral factors by participants in real time, which reduces recall bias. While such data may help predict exercise behavior, one limitation is the need for additional devices (palm pilot) or the creation of an app for a smartphone. The use of an online survey distribution platform compatible with personal smartphones to conduct EMA of exercise behavior in free-living adults is still unclear. Methods: Across 14 days, texts with a survey link were distributed at 9:30 am, 1:30 pm, 5:30 pm, and 9:30 pm. The survey assessed hypothesized …

Hybrid Fusion Protein For Inhibition Of Multiple Proteases For Chronic Wound Healing, Graham L. Strauss
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Many diseases display a multitude of relevant factors that contribute to the persistence of the disease and difficulty treating it. The multifactorial characteristics of some diseases lead to the requirement of combination of treatments in order to restore health. The latter may necessitate the mixing of treatments, medications, and therapeutics to first halt the disease, then assist the human body in returning itself to a state of normality. For example, chronic wounds exhibit this multifactor characteristic in which there exist many factors that lead to the body’s inability to properly heal in a timely manner. This presents a further threat …

Introduction: Early childhood is an optimal time to support the development of physical activity and healthy eating behaviors. As over half of children are cared for in family child care homes and child care centers it is crucial to ensure these behaviors are being supported in the childcare setting. One such process that supports provider’s education and implementation of healthy behaviors in the childcare setting is the Nutrition and Physical Activity Assessment in Child Care (Go NAP SACC). However, after participation in Go NAP SACC, little is known regarding how to further support providers in their promotion of healthy behaviors. …

Studies on vesicle formation by the Coat Protein I (COPI) complex have contributed to a basic understanding of how vesicular transport is initiated. Phosphatidic acid (PA) and diacylglycerol (DAG) have been found previously to be required for the fission stage of COPI vesicle formation. Here, we find that PA with varying lipid geometry can all promote early fission, but only PA with shortened acyl chains promotes late fission. Moreover, diacylglycerol (DAG) acts after PA in late fission, with this role of DAG also requiring shorter acyl chains. Further highlighting the importance of the short-chain lipid geometry for late fission, we …

Diabetes selfcare (DSC) is an integrated part in diabetes management. The aim of this study was to analyze the correlation between DSC with PEDIS (perfusion, extend, depth, infection, sensation) score and glycemic control in diabetes patients. This study applied a cross sectional design, involving 106 patients, the inclusions are patient diabetes type 1 and 2 with or without diabetic foot ulcers who are < 65 years old, can read, write and use Bahasa. This research was conducted in the Community Health Center of West Denpasar II Bali. The statistic analyze used are Mann Whitney, and Chi square Statistics showed a significant association between DSC and PEDIS score (p= 0.0005) a strong correlation (r= -0.74) and glycemic control (p= 0.0005) a moderate correlation (0.451). DSC can be used predict the condition of diabetic foot ulcers through the PEDIS score and predict glycemic control in diabetes. In Orem’s self-care theory, self-care is a health resource in individual. The strategy of diabetes self-care requires awareness and responsibility in managing diabetes for controlling blood sugar and adequate foot care. This activity should directed by nurse to providing information about diabetes knowledge and prevention complications

Abstract
Preeclampsia is a complication of pregnancy that if left untreated could result in maternal and/or fetal death. Preeclampsia is a pregnancy specific disorder that can affect many different body systems. That pathophysiology of preeclampsia is not completely known, but alterations in placentation are thought to cause the disorder. Signs and symptoms of preeclampsia include: elevated blood pressure, blurred or double vision, epigastric pain, severe headache, proteinuria, thrombocytopenia, kidney failure, and liver failure. Preeclampsia with severe features can lead to the development of HELLP syndrome (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelets), disseminated intravascular coagulation, and eclampsia. The only cure for …

Tuberculosis (TB) is a curable disease that claims the lives of millions each year. TB is an airborne disease spread by inhaling droplets of the tubercle bacillus. There are two different types of TB related conditions; latent TB infection and active TB disease. During latent TB, an individual inhales droplets of tubercle bacillus but the immune system can fight off this infection. However, once droplets of tubercle bacillus penetrate the alveoli, and colonization of droplets multiply, latent TB transitions into active TB disease (Katanekwa & Dahlback, 2016, p. 9). TB is typically found in the lungs but can also develop …

“Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is the most devastating type of stroke” (Yu, et al., 2018). When an aneurysm forms at a vessel bifurcation, it weakens the walls of the vessel. This in combination with high intravascular pressure can cause a rupture of the aneurysm, which displaces blood into the subarachnoid space in the brain. A patient who presents with an aSAH is at risk for further complications including, but not limited to, delayed cerebral ischemia, seizures, and aneurysm re-rupture (Darsie & Moheet, 2017). Close monitoring and aggressive treatment are imperative for the preserving neurological function in these patients.

Radiation therapy for head and neck cancers results in permanent damage to the saliva producing acinar compartment of the salivary gland. To date, a pure pro-acinar cell line to study underlying mechanisms of acinar cell diferentiation in culture has not been described. Here, we report the establishment of a pro-acinar (mSG-PAC1) and ductal (mSG-DUC1) cell line, from the murine submandibular salivary gland (SMG), which recapitulate developmental milestones in diferentiation. mSG-DUC1 cells express the ductal markers, keratin-7 and keratin-19, and form lumenized spheroids. mSG-PAC1 cells express the pro-acinar markers SOX10 and aquaporin-5. Using the mSG-PAC1 cell line, we demonstrate that FGF2 …
