A cross sectional survey was conducted during August 2014 to October 2014, to identify the impact of cable television channels on lives of the people, in Karachi, Pakistan. Three hundred participants were selected through convenience sampling and a pre-tested structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Data was analyzed in SPSS version 19.0. About 15% of participants were more than 40 years. About 62% were females in the study sample. Regression analysis showed that viewing television at night impacts work performance (OR: 1.39; 95% CI: 0.81-2.37), sleep (OR: 1.07; 95% CI: 0.63-1.81), family life (OR: 1.52; 95% CI: 0.89-2.60) and …

Instability of the patellofemoral (PF) joint of the knee is typically caused by chronic atraumatic injuries and inciting traumatic events. Damage to the quadriceps and patellar tendons of the extensor mechanism can be devastating and often life-changing injuries that require prompt diagnosis and treatment. A sound understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and degenerative changes of both tendons and the extensor mechanism of the knee can help guide surgical repair and postoperative rehabilitation of patients. Immediate primary repair has often resulted in improved postoperative results compared with delayed reconstruction, and the avoidance of gap formation by use of careful techniques and augmentation has been critical for successful treatment. Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome is a heart disorder characterized by an additional electrical pathway from the atria to ventricular chambers and episodes of tachycardia. Although the incidence of WPW is relatively low, the pre-excitation syndrome can result in sudden cardiac death, with a higher prevalence noted in younger patient populations. We present a 19-year-old male collegiate football player in whom WPW syndrome was diagnosed during a checkup at a sports-medicine clinic for a rash on his back. Radiofrequency ablation resulted in successful treatment of WPW syndrome, and the patient gradually returned to increasing levels of sports-related activity. Orthopaedic physicians should be …

เหตุผลของการทำวิจัย : รูปแบบความผูกพันที่มารดามีมาตั้งแต่ในวัยเด็ก ส่งผลให้มารดาเกิดรูปแบบความคิด อารมณ์ พฤติกรรม และการมีปฏิสัมพันธ์กับผู้อื่นตามลักษณะประสบการณ์ความผูกพันเดิมของมารดาซึ่งการศึกษาการดำเนินไปของรูปแบบความผูกพันในประเทศไทยมีน้อยวัตถุประสงค์ : เพื่อศึกษาการดำเนินไปของรูปแบบความผูกพันตั้งแต่เมื่อมารดาเป็นเด็กและเมื่อมารดาเป็นผู้เลี้ยงดูบุตรเองรูปแบบการวิจัย : ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพสถานที่ทำการศึกษา : แผนกผู้ป่วยนอกจิตเวชเด็ก โรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์กลุ่มตัวอย่างและวิธีการศึกษา : เก็บข้อมูลในมารดาผู้ป่วยจิตเวชเด็ก โรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์จำนวน 12 คน โดยใช้การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (In-depth interview)ร่วมกับการใช้ข้อคำถาม (semi-structured questionnaire) ของAdult Attachment Interview และตรวจสอบความน่าเชื่อถือของข้อมูลแบบสามเส้าด้านข้อมูล (Data triangulation) ร่วมกับวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยวิธีการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา (Content analysis)ผลการศึกษา : จากการสัมภาษณ์มารดา 12 คน พบว่าส่วนใหญ่ในช่วงวัยเด็กมีความผูกพันแบบวิตกกังวลไม่แน่ใจ (Insecure ambivalentattachment) และความผูกพันแบบมั่งคง (Secure attachment)และเมื่อเติบโตเป็นผู้ใหญ่ พบว่าส่วนใหญ่มารดามีความผูกพันแบบหมางเมิน (Dismissing)สรุป : รูปแบบความผูกพันของมารดาในวัยเด็ก มีที่มาจากการรับรู้ประสบการณ์ที่ผู้ดูแลมีต่อตนเอง เช่น พฤติกรรมการตอบสนองหรือความเข้มข้นของความ สัมพันธ์ที่ผู้ดูแลมีต่อตนเอง จากการศึกษาพบว่าความผูกพันในวัยเด็กมี การเปลี่ยนแปลงเมื่อเวลาผ่านไป ซึ่งมีปัจจัยเกี่ยวข้อง เช่น มีประสบการณ์ การสูญเสียบุคคลที่ผูกพัน ไม่มีเครือข่ายทางสังคมอื่น ๆ ไม่มีที่ปรึกษาเมื่อตนเองมีความเครียด ไม่สามารถมีความรู้สึกเป็นตัวของตัวเองได้อย่างชัดเจน หรือเคยถูกคุกคามทางร่างกายและทางเพศ.

เหตุผลของการทำวิจัย : ในปีพ.ศ. 2551 ได้มีการศึกษาความเครียดของนักศึกษาซึ่งศึกษากฎหมาย ณ สำนักอบรมศึกษากฎหมายแห่งเนติบัณฑิตยสภา พบว่านักศึกษาร้อยละ 58.7 มีความเครียดในระดับสูงถึงรุนแรง เวลาและสภาพสังคมที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไป อาจทำให้พบความเครียดที่แตกต่างไปจากเดิมวัตถุประสงค์ : เพื่อศึกษาความเครียดของนักศึกษาซึ่งศึกษา ณ สำนักอบรมศึกษากฎหมายแห่งเนติบัณฑิตยสภา ในปีพ.ศ. 2557รูปแบบการวิจัย : การศึกษาวิจัยเชิงพรรณนา ณ จุดเวลาใดเวลาหนึ่งสถานที่ทำการศึกษา : สำนักอบรมศึกษากฎหมายแห่งเนติบัณฑิตยสภาตัวอย่างและวิธีการศึกษา : เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจาก นักศึกษาซึ่งศึกษา ณ สำนักอบรมศึกษากฎหมายแห่งเนติบัณฑิตยสภา จำนวน 435 คน โดยใช้แบบสอบถามแบบตอบด้วยตนเอง ประกอบด้วย 1) แบบสอบถามข้อมูลพื้นฐาน 2) แบบทดสอบความเครียดสวนปรุงชุด 20 ข้อ 3) แบบสอบถามวิธีจัดการความเครียดของนักศึกษาซึ่งศึกษา ณ สำนักอบรมศึกษากฎหมายแห่งเนติบัณฑิตยสภาผลการศึกษา : พบว่ากลุ่มตัวอย่างจำนวนร้อยละ 41.6 มีความเครียดในระดับสูงและร้อยละ 14.3 มีความเครียดในระดับรุนแรง โดยมีปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับความเครียด ได้แก่ โรคทางกาย ที่มาของรายได้หลัก ความเพียงพอของรายได้ การมีรายได้เหลือเก็บ การมีหนี้สิน สถานภาพสมรส และการใช้พฤติกรรมเชิงลบเพื่อจัดการความเครียด โดยพบว่าปัจจัยที่ทำนายความเครียดของนักศึกษา ได้แก่ ความเพียงพอของรายได้ปัญหาสุขภาพ และสถานภาพสมรสสรุป : นักศึกษาซึ่งศึกษา ณ สำนักอบรมศึกษากฎหมายแห่งเนติบัณฑิตยสภามีความเครียดในระดับสูงถึงรุนแรง รวมกันเกินกว่าครึ่งหนึ่งของนักศึกษาที่เข้าร่วมการวิจัย คิดเป็นจำนวนร้อยละ 55.9 โดยสัดส่วน ผู้ที่มีความเครียดสูงและรุนแรงลดลงเล็กน้อยกว่าปีพ.ศ. 2551 ปัจจัยที่ทำนายความเครียด ได้แก่ ความเพียงพอของรายได้ ปัญหาสุขภาพและสถานภาพสมรส.

เหตุผลของการทำวิจัย : ปัจจุบันน้ำยาตรวจหมู่โลหิต anti-M ของศูนย์บริการโลหิตแห่งชาติ สภากาชาดไทย ผลิตขึ้นมาจากการฉีดกระตุ้นกระต่าย (rabbit polyclonal antibody) แอนติบอดีที่ผลิตได้มีความจำเพาะไม่คงที่และความแรงที่ได้ ค่อนข้างต่ำ วัตถุประสงค์ : เพื่อพัฒนาการผลิตน้ำยาตรวจหมู่โลหิตโมโนโคลนัล anti-M วัสดุและวิธีการ : ใช้เทคนิคการเชื่อมเซลล์ระหว่าง B-lymphocyte ที่มีการสร้าง anti-M กับเซลล์มะเร็งสายพันธุ์เดียวกัน (JMS-3) ทำให้ได้เซลล์สายพันธุ์ที่คงทน ในการสร้าง anti-M จากนั้นนำน้ำเลี้ยงเซลล์ที่ได้จากโคลนใหม่ (clone 1F9) มาศึกษาคุณสมบัติต่าง ๆ โดยเปรียบเทียบกับ rabbit polyclonal anti-M ของศูนย์บริการโลหิตแห่งชาติเดิม และ monoclonal anti-M ของบริษัท ต่างประเทศ ผลการศึกษา : พบว่าน้ำยา human monoclonal anti-M (clone 1F9) ที่พัฒนาขึ้นใหม่ มีความแรงของแอนติบอดี (potency) ดีกว่าน้ำยาตรวจหมู่โลหิต rabbit polyclonal anti-M ของศูนย์บริการโลหิตแห่งชาติเดิมและเทียบเท่าหรือ ดีกว่า monoclonal anti-M ของบริษัทต่างประเทศ ด้านความเร็วของ แอนติบอดี (avidity) ในการเกิดปฏิกิริยากับเม็ดเลือดแดงหมู่โลหิตที่มี M-antigen positive บนสไลด์ พบว่ามีความเร็วเฉลี่ย 1 - 2 วินาที ซึ่งไม่แตกต่างกันในน้ำยาทั้ง 3 ชนิด ด้านความจำเพาะของแอนติบอดี (specificity) พบว่าให้ผลถูกต้องแม่นยำร้อยละ 100 โดยให้ปฏิกิริยา ผลบวกกับเม็ดเลือดแดงหมู่โลหิตที่มี M-antigen positive จำนวน 800 ราย ให้ปฏิกิริยาผลลบกับเม็ดเลือดแดงหมู่โลหิตที่มี M-antigen negative จำนวน 400 ราย และยังให้ปฏิกิริยาผลลบทั้งหมดกับ papainized identification panel cells (Lot …

The ability of anti-heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) drugs to attenuate NF-κB-mediated transcription is the major basis for their anti-inflammatory properties. While the molecular mechanisms underlying this effect are not clear, they appear to be distinct in human endothelial cells. We now show for the first time that type 2 sirtuin (Sirt-2) histone deacetylase binds human NF-κB target gene promoter and prevents the recruitment of NF-κB proteins and subsequent assembly of RNA polymerase II complex in human lung microvascular endothelial cells. Hsp90 inhibitors stabilize the Sirt-2/promoter interaction and impose a “transcriptional block,” which is reversed by either inhibition or downregulation …

The rapid increase of bed bug populations resistant to pyrethroids demands the development of novel control tactics. Products combining pyrethroids and neonicotinoids have become very popular for bed bug control in the United States, but there are concerns about evolution of resistance to these compounds. Laboratory assays were used to measure the toxicity of topical applications of four neonicotinoids to a susceptible population and three pyrethroid-resistant populations. Activity of esterases, glutathione S-transferases, and cytochrome P450s of all strains was also evaluated. Fibroblasts, and their differentiation into myofibroblasts, are important in the pathology of several lung diseases including asthma and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The differentiation process is dependent on several factors, such as soluble factors like transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFβ1) and mechanical signals such as matrix stiffness. Additionally, the soluble arachidonic acid metabolite Prostaglandin E₂ (PGE₂) prevents TGFβ1 induced differentiation of fibroblasts to myofibroblasts, but the molecular mechanism is not completely understood¹⁵. Metabolic Syndrome is a human condition that presents with various metabolic issues such as abnormal distribution of body fat, high blood pressure, and a prothrombotic state, among other problems (Alberti,et al, 2005). This syndrome is a risk factor for visual disorders, such as glaucoma, and is often associated with increased levels of neuroinflammation. Currently, the animal model used to replicate this syndrome is The Low Capacity Runner and High Capacity Runner Rat Model.
