This research uses a qualitative approach and is a descriptive research through data collection techniques in-depth interviews, observation, and literature study. The results of this research shows that social capital is owned by members of the working group of PHBS of SMP Negeri 107 Jakarta can support its success in an effort to implement clean and healthy living behavior.

Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular protozoan parasite. This apicomplexan is the causative agent of toxoplasmosis, a leading cause of central nervous system disease in AIDS. It has long been known that T. gondii interferes with major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC-II) antigen presentation to attenuate CD4(+) T cell responses and establish persisting infections. Transcriptional downregulation of MHC-II genes by T. gondii was previously established, but the precise mechanisms inhibiting MHC-II function are currently unknown. Family dynamics are much more complex than they were 60 years ago and so are behavioral outcomes. This transformation in the American family has led towards a large array of adolescent living situations. Rural Kentucky is a prime example of an area with a high rate of non-traditional family composition. BACKGROUND: The routine use of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) in pediatric cardiac surgery remains controversial. Our aim was to test whether BNP adds information to predict risk in pediatric cardiac surgery.

METHODS: In all, 587 children undergoing cardiac surgery (median age 6.3 months; 1.2-35.9 months) were prospectively enrolled at a single institution. BNP was measured pre-operatively, on every post-operative day in the intensive care unit, and before discharge. The primary outcome was major complications and length ventilator stay >15 days. Idiopathic aortitis is among the most common causes of non-infectious aortitis, which rarely presents with anemia.

CASE PRESENTATION:

Here we report a case of a 49-year-old muhajir female who presented with shortness of breath and easy fatigability for the past 6 months. Physical examination revealed pallor and a diastolic murmur in the aortic region. Echocardiography showed thickened and calcified aortic and mitral valves, severe aortic regurgitation and dilatation of ascending aorta. The current study examined the effects of three speech conditions (voiced, whispered, mouthed) on articulatory kinematics at the sentence and word level. Participants included 20 adults (10 males, 10 females) with no history of speech, language, or hearing disorders. Participants read aloud six target utterances in the three different speaking conditions while articulatory kinematics were measured using the NDI Wave electromagnetic articulograph. The orphan nuclear receptor Nur77 plays critical roles in cardiovascular diseases, and its expression is markedly induced in the heart after beta-adrenergic receptor (β-AR) activation. However, the functional significance of Nur77 in β-AR signaling in the heart remains unclear. By using Northern blot, Western blot, and immunofluorescent staining assays, we showed that Nur77 expression was markedly upregulated in cardiomyocytes in response to multiple hypertrophic stimuli, including isoproterenol (ISO), phenylephrine (PE), and endothelin-1 (ET-1). In a time- and dose-dependent manner, ISO increases Nur77 expression in the nuclei of cardiomyocytes. The Akt protein kinase, also known as protein kinase B, plays key roles in insulin receptor signalling and regulates cell growth, survival and metabolism. Recently, we described a mechanism to enhance Akt phosphorylation that restricts access of cellular phosphatases to the Akt activation loop (Thr(308) in Akt1 or protein kinase B isoform alpha) in an ATP-dependent manner. Recurrence of idiopathic focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) after renal transplantation is believed to be caused by a circulating factor(s). We detected cardiotrophin-like cytokine factor 1 (CLCF1), a member of the interleukin 6 family, in the plasma from patients with recurrent FSGS. We hypothesized that CLCF1 contributes to the effect of FSGS serum on the glomerular filtration barrier in vitro. Presently, we studied the effect of CLCF1 on isolated rat glomeruli using an in vitro assay of albumin permeability (P(alb)). CLCF1 (0.05-100 ng/mL) increased P(alb) and caused maximal effect at 5-10 ng/mL (P < 0.001). The increase in Palb was analogous to the effect of FSGS serum. Anti-CLCF1 monoclonal antibody blocked the CLCF1-induced increase in P(alb) and significantly attenuated the effect of FSGS serum (P < 0.001). The heterodimer composed of CLCF1 and cosecreted molecule cytokine receptor-like factor 1 (CRLF1) attenuated the increase in P(alb) caused by CLCF1 or FSGS serum. Western blot analysis showed that CLCF1 upregulated phosphorylation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) (Tyr705) in glomeruli. This effect was diminished by the heterodimer CLCF1-CRLF1. Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) inhibitor BMS-1119543 or STAT3 inhibitor Stattic significantly blocked the effect of CLCF1 or FSGS serum on P(alb) (P < 0.001). These novel findings suggest that when monomeric CLCF1 increases P(alb), the heterodimer CLCF1-CRLF1 may protect the glomerular filtration barrier. We speculate that albuminuria in FSGS is related to qualitative or quantitative changes in the CLCF1-CRLF1 complex, and that JAK2 or STAT3 inhibitors may be novel therapeutic agents to treat FSGS.

Background: In August 2010, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) implemented a policy mandating sickle cell trait (SCT) testing for all Division I collegiate athletes. Subsequently, all Division II-III athletes were also compelled to undergo SCT testing. This decision has met with controversy among healthcare providers, researchers, and sickle cell advocates. However, there is little information concerning the athletes’ perspective of this policy. The purpose of this paper is to report the findings of a qualitative study that explored college athletes’ perceptions of sickle cell trait SCT, NCAA policies on SCT testing, and potential implications of SCT screening.

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether premarital relationship education and characteristics of relationship education in a community sample of newlywed couples predicted marital trajectories over 27 months. Newlywed couples (N = 191) completed measures of marital satisfaction 9 times over 27 months, and prior to marriage they provided information about relationship education and demographic, personal, and relationship risk factors for marital distress. Our objective was to obtain an in-depth understanding of autistic adults’ experiences with healthcare and their recommendations for improving care. Our academic-community partnership used a community based participatory research (CBPR) approach to conduct semi-structured, open-ended interviews with 39 autistic adults and 16 people who had experience supporting autistic adults in healthcare settings. Participants identified patient-level, autism-related factors that impact healthcare interactions, including verbal communication skills, sensory sensitivities, challenges with body awareness, slow processing speed, atypical non-verbal communication, and challenges with organization. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) help treat many of the phenotypic manifestations of fragile X syndrome (FXS) including anxiety, sensory processing challenges, and communication and intellectual deficits. However, the efficacy of SSRIs has not been previously studied in children with FXS under five-years-old. The purpose of this study was to elucidate group differences in behavior and developmental outcome measures for young children with FXS when treated with sertraline compared to placebo.

Myeloid sarcoma is a solid collection of leukemic blast cells outside bone marrow. It is seen infrequently in association with overt Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), however, it invariably transforms into this aggressive condition. A28-year woman presented with a lump in left breast for last 2 years. Morphological and immunophenotypic results of breast mass were consistent with myeloid sarcoma. Bone marrow aspirate and biopsy were normal, however, patient died after one and a half years of diagnosis. Myeloid sarcoma at any extramedullary site heralds development of overt acute myeloid leukemia and should be appropriately managed at the time of diagnosis

Haemoglobin (Hb) K Woolwich is a rare Hb variant which was first described in a family from West Indies and its occurrence was later reported mainly in Black families from many African countries. We report a case of a young male who came for evaluation of anemia. His complete blood count showed hypochromic, microcytic anemia and his serum ferritin was low. Hb electrophoresis done as part of initial workup showed an abnormal band which moved faster than HbA. For further evaluation, Hb analysis by high performance liquid chromatography was subsequently performed and revealed Hb K Woolwich. This is a rare …
