The formation of gullies is one of the greatest environmental disasters in Southeastern Nigeria. Large areas of agricultural lands are lost or have become unsuitable for cultivation due to gully erosion. There have been numerous attempts to curb gully erosion in the region; especially through large-scale engineering projects, however, little has been discussed about ways to prevent their onset or the use of community-based low-technology approaches to mitigate their development. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat pengaruh dan besaran berbagai variabel kesehatan dan kualitas kehidupan kerja terhadap kinerja perawat di Rumah Sakit Umum (RSU) Tangerang. Variabel kesehatan tersebut meliputi sejarah kesehatan keluarga, lingkungan kehidupan, perilaku gaya hidup, dan status kesehatan perawat. Desain penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah desain potong lintang. Data dianalisis dengan pendekatan Structural Equation Model (SEM) menggunakan software Smart-PLS. Populasi yang diamati adalah perawat yang bertugas di semua pelayanan RSU Tangerang dengan 250 perawat terpilih sebagai sampel yang dilakukan secara multistage random sampling. Data tentang faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan sindrom metabolik pada kelompok eksekutif di Indonesia yang diperlukan untuk upaya pencegahan penyakit kardiovaskular sangat terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui prevalensi dan determinan sindrom metabolik pada kelompok eksekutif. Penelitian dilakukan di Jakarta dan sekitarnya dengan menggunakan rancangan cross sectional. Jumlah responden yaitu 220 orang eksekutif laki-laki dan 68 orang eksekutif wanita. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pengukuran antropometri, analisis biokimia darah, analisis asupan makanan, pengukuran angka stres, dan pengukuran indeks aktivitas. Kekerasan seksual pada anak (KSA) merupakan aktivitas seksual yang melibatkan anak-anak oleh orang yang lebih dewasa. Perbuatan ini mengakibatkan trauma, baik fisik, psikis, sosial, maupun perilaku. Fenomena ini tidak selalu terlaporkan mengingat keadaan, kesediaan atau keberanian korban untuk melaporkan, dukungan keluarga untuk mempertahankan laporan ke polisi, dan kepedulian berbagai pihak pada perlindungan anak. Demi melindungi anak maka diperlukan suatu strategi preventif untuk mengantisipasi meluasnya kasus tersebut. Media buklet diharapkan dapat menjadi salah satu bentuk media pendukung pencegahan terhadap KSA. L’incapacité prolongée associée aux désordres musculo-squelettiques d’origine professionnelle, dont les douleurs lombaires non spécifiques, pose un problème majeur et coûteux aux personnes atteintes ainsi qu’à l’ensemble de la société. L’apparition de désordres musculo-squelettiques et le développement de l’incapacité prolongée pourraient être liés à la présence de stresseurs qui engendreraient l’activation de mécanismes physiologiques et le maintien d’un cycle d’inflammation. La réponse émotionnelle face à ces stresseurs pourrait être le pont entre les stresseurs et l’activation des mécanismes physiologiques. Objectives: The population of individuals with substance use (SUD) and/or psychiatric disorders (PD) has a high prevalence of smoking and a consequent increase in tobacco-related morbidity and mortality when compared to the general population. The aim of this study is to examine the outcomes of a program in a real-life setting which takes a tailored approach to smoking cessation among individuals with SUD and/or PD.

The mitochondrion is vital for many metabolic pathways in the cell, contributing all or important constituent enzymes for diverse functions such as β-oxidation of fatty acids, the urea cycle, the citric acid cycle, and ATP synthesis. The mitochondrion is also a major site of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in the cell. Aberrant production of mitochondrial ROS can have dramatic effects on cellular function, in part, due to oxidative modification of key metabolic proteins localized in the mitochondrion. BACKGROUND: Dobutamine stress cardiovascular magnetic resonance (DS-CMR) is an established tool to assess hibernating myocardium and ischemia. Analysis is typically based on visual assessment with considerable operator dependency. CMR myocardial feature tracking (CMR-FT) is a recently introduced technique for tissue voxel motion tracking on standard steady-state free precession (SSFP) images to derive circumferential and radial myocardial mechanics.We sought to determine the feasibility and reproducibility of CMR-FT for quantitative wall motion assessment during intermediate dose DS-CMR.

The idea of the Guantánamo detainee as a Muselmann, the lowest order of concentration camp inmates, contains within it important implications for the new understanding of sovereignty in the era of Guantánamo, in an age of exception. The purpose of this article is to explain the status of those who are detained at Guantánamo Bay. Internalizing disorders, specifically depression and anxiety, affect up to 18% and 33% of youth, respectively (Costello, Egger, & Angold, 2005b). Schools have become a major provider of mental health services to children, primarily in attempts to overcome barriers to receiving community services (Farmer, Burns, Philip, Angold, & Costello, 2003). Fathers' attendance at childbirth is almost universal in the United States, but few researchers have addressed the role that males play in childbirth decision making. The number of technological interventions available to birthing women is increasing, as is the utilization of those interventions. The degree to which women choose or agree to these interventions plays a major role in individual and societal health outcomes. Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and family planning clinics funded through Title X of the Public Health Service Act are critical components of the health care safety net in urban and rural medically underserved communities. Although they share the common mission of serving vulnerable and low-income populations, health centers and Title X clinics possess different, but complementary, strengths. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Affordable Care Act) will expand coverage to an additional 32 million people while leaving 23 million uninsured. Human intestinal infections with the nematode Strongyloides stercoralis remain a significant problem worldwide and a vaccine would be a useful addition to the tools available to prevent and control this infection. The goal of this study was to test single antigens for their efficacy in a vaccine against S. stercoralis larvae in mice. Alum was used as the adjuvant in these studies and antigens selected for analysis were either recognized by protective human IgG (Ss-TMY-1, Ss-EAT-6, and Ss-LEC-5) or were known to be highly immunogenic in humans (Ss-NIE-1 and Ss-IR). METHODS: An as-treated analysis was performed on patients enrolled in the Spine Patient Outcomes Research Trial (SPORT) for the treatment of intervertebral lumbar disc herniation. Randomized and observational cohorts were combined.
