The Chromokinesin Kid Is Necessary For Chromosome Arm Orientation And Oscillation, But Not Congression, On Mitotic Spindles, Aime A. Levesque, Duane A. Compton

Chromokinesins have been postulated to provide the polar ejection force needed for chromosome congression during mitosis. We have evaluated that possibility by monitoring chromosome movement in vertebrate-cultured cells using time-lapse differential interference contrast microscopy after microinjection with antibodies specific for the chromokinesin Kid. 17.5% of cells injected with Kid-specific antibodies have one or more chromosomes that remain closely opposed to a spindle pole and fail to enter anaphase. In contrast, 82.5% of injected cells align chromosomes in metaphase, progress to anaphase, and display chromosome velocities not significantly different from control cells. The post-translational addition of a farnesyl moiety to the Ras oncoprotein is essential for its membrane localization and is required for both its biological activity and ability to induce malignant transformation. The present invention describes design and synthesis of a farnesylpyrophosphate (FPP) analog, 8-anilinogeranyl pyrophosphate (AGPP) that is transferred to Ras by farnesyltransferase (FTase), in which the ω-terminal isoprene unit of the farnesyl group has been replaced with an aniline functionality. A mutation in the gene encoding for the liver mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH2-2), present in some Asian populations, lowers or abolishes the activity of this enzyme and results in elevations in blood acetaldehyde upon ethanol consumption, a phenotype that greatly protects against alcohol abuse and alcoholism. We have determined whether the administration of antisense phosphorothioate oligonucleotides (ASOs) can mimic the low-activity ALDH2-2 Asian phenotype. Rat hepatoma cells incubated for 24 h with an antisense oligonucleotide (ASO-9) showed reductions in ALDH2 mRNA levels of 85% and ALDH2 (half-life of 22 h) activity of 55% equivalent to a >90% inhibition in ALDH2 …

A 30 year-old male was sent to the emergency department due to chest pain and radiation to left shoulder. Heart disease was suspected but the electrocardiography and cardiac enzyme examination were negative. Tetraplegia with the dissociated sensory loss occurred later. Pain and temperature sensation decreased, but vibration sensation and proprioception were preserved. Urine retention was also noted, but the bladder sensation seemed to be preserved. The anterior spinal artery syndrome at the lower cervical cord level was diagnosed by the clinical presentation and MRI findings. This study is to determine the prognosis and academic performance in hydrocephalic children with different etiologies. We reviewed the medical records of all the patients who had the diagnoses of hydrocephalus and had been regularly followed between 1983 and 1997. In the traditional method, physicians omitted the central upper eyelid area to prevent the development of ptosis, but there may remain some twitches.Here we report a case of Botulinum toxin A injection for left hemifacial spasm with complication of ptosis. วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อหาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความยาวส่วนโค้งแนวฟันที่ต้องการกับความลึกของโค้งสปี ในการปรับ ลดระดับโค้งสปี วัสดุและวิธีการ กระทําโดยการปรับฟันล่างในเตนโตฟอร์มให้มีความลึกของโค้งสปีเพิ่มขึ้นจากระดับปกติทั้งหมด 11 ระดับ ตั้งแต่ 1.55 ถึง 6.95 มิลลิเมตร วัดความยาวส่วนโค้งแนวฟันที่ปรากฏจริงจากแบบจําลองศึกษาที่พิมพ์ จากเดนโตฟอร์มที่ปรับระดับความลึกของโค้งสปีแต่ละระดับ นํามาลบออกจากผลรวมของค่าความกว้างในแนว ใกล้กลางไกลกลางของฟันทุกซี่ในขากรรไกรล่าง ได้เป็นค่าความยาวส่วนโค้งแนวฟันที่ต้องการสําหรับความลึกของโค้งสปีแต่ละระดับ ผลการศึกษา พบความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความยาวส่วนโค้งแนวฟันที่ต้องการกับความลึกของโค้งสปีเป็นสมการเส้น ตรง Y = 0.820 X -1.376 สรุป ผลการศึกษานี้สามารถนําไปประยุกต์ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์แบบจําลองศึกษา ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการวินิจฉัยและ การวางแผนการรักษาทางทันตกรรมจัดฟัน

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาค่าความแข็งแรงพันธะเฉือนของพอร์ซเลนที่มีลูไซท์ปริมาณสูง ยึดติดกับอะลูมินัสพอร์ซเลนด้วยเรซินซีเมนต์ ภายใต้การปรับสภาพผิวต่างกัน วัสดุและวิธีการ เตรียมแผ่นกลมพอร์ซเลนที่มีลูไซท์ปริมาณสูง ขนาดเส้นผ่านศูนย์กลาง 5.5 มม. หนา 1 มม. จํานวน 300 ชิ้น แบ่งเป็น 5 กลุ่ม ๆ ละ 60 ชิ้น มีการปรับสภาพดังนี้ คือ แบบ A) ไม่ปรับสภาพผิว เป็นกลุ่มควบคุม แบบ B) ขัดเรียบด้วยกระดาษซิลิกอนคาร์ไบด์ แบบ C) กรอด้วยเข็มกรอกากเพชรชนิดหยาบ แบบ D) กัดด้วย กรดไฮโดรฟลูออริก เป็นเวลา 5 นาที และแบบ E) กัดด้วยเจลเอพีเอฟ เป็นเวลา 10 นาที จากนั้นเตรียมแผ่นกลม อะลูมินัสพอร์ซเลน ขนาดเส้นผ่านศูนย์กลาง 15 มม. หนา 1.5 มม. อย่างละ 300 ชิ้น แล้วแบ่งเป็น 6 กลุ่ม ๆ ละ 50 ชิ้น มีการปรับสภาพผิว ดังนี้ คือกลุ่ม 1) แบบ A กลุ่ม 2) แบบ B กลุ่ม 3) แบบ C กลุ่ม 4) เป่าทรายด้วยผง อะลูมิเนียมออกไซด์ เป็นเวลา 20 วินาที กลุ่ม 5) แบบ D และกลุ่ม 6) แบบ E จากนั้นนําแผ่นกลมอะลูมินัส พอร์ชเลนฝังในอะครีลิกเรซินใสเพื่อเป็นที่ยึดจับ แล้วยึดกับแผ่นกลมพอร์ชเลนที่มีลูไซท์ปริมาณสูงด้วยเรซินซีเมนต์ ภายใต้แรงกด 200 กรัม …

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ของจุดอ้างอิงต่าง ๆ บริเวณแนวกลางของแบบฟันบน กับแนวกลางฟัน หน้าบนในผู้ป่วยที่มีการเบี่ยงเบนของแนวกลางฟันหน้าบนไปจากแนวกลางใบหน้า วัสดุและวิธีการ ศึกษาในแบบฟันของผู้ป่วยที่มารับการตรวจที่ภาควิชาทันตกรรมจัดฟัน คณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย จํานวน 60 ราย ที่มีแนวกลางของฟันหน้าบนไม่ตรงกับแนวกลางของใบหน้า โดยวัด ระยะตั้งฉากจากจุดอ้างอิง 3 จุดที่อยู่บริเวณแนวกลางของแบบฟันบน ได้แก่ เนื้อยึดริมฝีปากบน จุดกึ่งกลางของ อินไซซีฟ แพพิลล่า และจุดกึ่งกลางของรูที่คู่ที่ 2 มายังเส้นสมมติแนวกลางของขากรรไกรบนที่ได้จากเส้นที่ลากผ่าน จุดกึ่งกลางของไฟเวียพาสาติใน กับจุดหน้าสุดบนมีเตียน พาลาดิน ราเฟ ก่อนที่จะเอียงขึ้นไปเป็นระนาบเอียงบน สันกระดูกเบ้าฟัน เปรียบเทียบกับระยะตั้งฉากจากแนวกลางฟันหน้าบน มายังแนวกลางของขากรรไกรบน ผลการศึกษา จากการวิเคราะห์ทางสถิติ โดยใช้ค่าสถิติสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ ที่ระดับนัยสําคัญ 0.01 พบว่าแนว กลางฟันหน้าบน มีความสัมพันธ์กับตําแหน่งของเนื้อยึดริมฝีปากบน และอินไซซีฟ แพพิลล่า แต่ไม่สัมพันธ์กับ ตําแหน่งของจุดกึ่งกลางของรูที่คู่ที่ 2 สรุป ในบรรดาจุดอ้างอิงบริเวณแนวกลางขากรรไกรบน ได้แก่ เนื้อยึดริมฝีปากบน จุดกึ่งกลางของอินไชซีฟ แพพิลล่า และจุดกึ่งกลางของรูที่คู่ที่ 2 ตําแหน่งจุดกึ่งกลางของรูที่คู่ที่ 2 เป็นตําแหน่งที่มีการเบี่ยงเบนตามแนวกลาง ฟันหน้าบนน้อยที่สุด จึงน่าจะเป็นจุดอ้างอิงที่สามารถนํามาใช้กําหนดแนวกลางขากรรไกรบนในการวิเคราะห์แบบฟันได้

ความต้องการของประชาชนที่มารับการรักษาของโรงพยาบาล คณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย, สุชาดา วัฒนบุรานนท์, ผ่องผุด หาญนรเศรษฐี

ศึกษาความต้องการของประชาชนที่มารับการรักษาทางทันตกรรมของโรงพยาบาลคณะทันตแพทย ศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย และนําผลที่ได้ไปใช้ในการวางแผนและพัฒนางานด้านบริการทางทันตกรรมของ คลินิกทันตกรรมบริการ โรงพยาบาลคณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ให้มีประสิทธิภาพต่อไป วัสดุและวิธีการ ศึกษาจากแฟ้มประวัติผู้ป่วย และจากใบคําบอกกล่าวสําคัญของประชาชนที่มารับการตรวจและ รักษาที่คลินิกทันตกรรมบริการ โรงพยาบาลคณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ตั้งแต่เดือนกรกฎาคม ถึง เดือนธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2542 จํานวน 11,533 ราย ซึ่งเป็นประชาชนที่มีอายุตั้งแต่ 13-60 ปีขึ้นไป ผลการศึกษา พบว่ากลุ่มอายุช่วง 21-30 ปี เป็นกลุ่มอายุที่มารับการรักษาทางทันตกรรมมากที่สุด คิดเป็นร้อยละ 28.2 และจํานวนประชาชนที่มารับการรักษาจะลดลงตามอายุที่เพิ่มขึ้น โดยประชาชนเพศหญิงจะมารับการรักษา มากกว่าเพศชาย เป็นอัตราส่วน 2:1 และอาชีพของประชาชนส่วนใหญ่ที่มารับการรักษา คือ อาชีพอิสระหรือเอกชน คิดเป็นร้อยละ 37.9 สําหรับความต้องการในการรักษาส่วนใหญ่คือ การอุดฟันคิดเป็นร้อยละ 26.0 การขูดหิน น้ําลายหรือรักษาโรคปริทันต์ คิดเป็นร้อยละ 24.7 ตามลําดับ สรุป ความต้องการในการรักษาทางทันตกรรมของประชาชนยังมีอยู่ ดังนั้นจึงควรให้การบริการรักษาทางทันตกรรม เพิ่มขึ้น โดยเฉพาะการบูรณะฟัน และการรักษาโรคเหงือก

การเปลี่ยนสีของฟันที่ได้รับการรักษาคลองรากฟันแล้วเป็นปัญหาด้านความสวยงามปัญหาหนึ่งโดย เฉพาะในฟันหน้า การเปลี่ยนสีนี้อาจเกิดจากสาเหตุหลายประการด้วยกัน แต่ปัญหานี้สามารถป้องกันและแก้ไขได้ บทความนี้จึงมีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อรวบรวมวิธีการและวัสดุต่าง ๆ ที่ใช้ในการบูรณะฟันที่รักษาคลองรากฟันเพื่อความ สวยงาม โดยพิจารณาจากหลักการและเหตุผลในการใช้ของแต่ละวิธี ได้แก่ การฟอกสีฟัน การบูรณะฟันเดือย รวม ทั้งวิธีการบูรณะครอบฟันเซรามิกร่วมกับการใช้เดือยและแกนฟันเซรามิก

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาการจัดการมูลฝอยติดเชื้อในคลินิกทันตกรรมของผู้ช่วยทันตแพทย์และคนงาน การจัดการ นี้ได้แก่ การแยกทิ้ง การเก็บรวบรวม การเคลื่อนย้าย การรับรู้ความเสี่ยงอันตรายที่สัมพันธ์กับการปฏิบัติของผู้ช่วย และความมีเพียงพอของวัสดุอุปกรณ์ที่จําเป็นต้องใช้ วัสดุและวิธีการ ใช้การสัมภาษณ์และการสังเกต ผู้ช่วยทันตแพทย์และคนงานคลินิกทันตกรรม 65 แห่ง กอง ทันตสาธารณสุข สํานักอนามัย กรุงเทพมหานคร จํานวน 130 คน เป็นผู้ช่วยทันตแพทย์และคนงานเท่ากันอย่างละ 65 คน โดยใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์ที่สร้างขึ้น คําถามทางด้านประชากรศาสตร์ ประเภทของมูลฝอยติดเชื้อ และการ ปฏิบัติในการจัดการมูลฝอยติดเชื้อ ผลการศึกษา ผู้ช่วยทันตแพทย์และคนงานมีคะแนนเฉลี่ยความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับประเภทของมูลฝอยติดเชื้อร้อยละ 91.28 และ 88.08 คะแนนไม่มีความแตกต่างที่ระดับความเชื่อมั่น 0.05 กลุ่มศึกษาส่วนใหญ่แยกทิ้งมูลฝอยติดเชื้อ ชนิดไม่มีคมได้ถูกต้อง กลุ่มศึกษาส่วนน้อยแยกทิ้งมูลฝอยติดเชื้อมีคม การรวบรวมและการเคลื่อนย้ายมูลฝอยติด เชื้อไม่เหมาะสม สรุป แม้ว่าคะแนนความเข้าใจประเภทของมูลฝอยติดเชื้อของกลุ่มศึกษาค่อนข้างสูง แต่การจัดการมูลฝอยติดเชื้อ ยังไม่เหมาะสม ซึ่งจะทําให้เป็นอันตรายต่อผู้ปฏิบัติและสิ่งแวดล้อม ผลการศึกษาได้เสนอแนะแนวทางการจัดการ มูลฝอยติดเชื้อของคลินิกทันตกรรม 3 ด้าน คือ การอบรมให้ความรู้ผู้ปฏิบัติ การมีอุปกรณ์ที่เพียงพอและเหมาะสม มีการปรับปรุงแก้ไขและการนิเทศงานเพื่อให้สามารถดําเนินการจัดการมูลฝอยติดเชื้อได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ

การยับยั้งขบวนการผลิตกรดแลกติกและ โพลีแซคคาไรด์ของเชื้อสเตร็พโตคอคคัสมิวแทนส์ โดยสารสกัดจากใบชา, เกรียงไกร คุ้มไพโรจน์, มาลี แซ่ก๊วย, วิธวรรณ แผ้วชนะ, อโนชา ชื่อสุวรรณ, อมรรัตน์ อิงคเศรษฐ์

วัถตุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาผลของสารสกัดจากใบชาที่ความเข้มข้นต่างๆ ต่อการยับยั้งการสร้างโพลีแซคคาไรด์และกรด แลกติกของเชื้อสเตร็พโตคอคคัส มิวแทนส์ สายพันธุ์ KPSK-2 ในหลอดทดลองเปรียบเทียบกับกลุ่มควบคุม เพื่อนํา ข้อมูลนี้ไปเป็นแนวทางหนึ่งในการป้องกันโรคฟันผุ วัสดุและวิธีการ การทดลองแบ่งออกเป็น 2 กลุ่มคือ กลุ่มทดสอบเลี้ยงเชื้อในอาหารเลี้ยงเชื้อทอด ซีเวต (Todd Hewitt) ที่เดิม 4% กลูโคส และมีสารสกัดจากใบชา (4.5 กรัม ในน้ํา 100 มิลลิลิตร) ความเข้มข้น 50.0, 33.3, 25.0, 20.0, 16.7 และ 14.2% โดยปริมาตร กลุ่มควบคุมเลี้ยงเชื้อในอาหารเลี้ยงเชื้อทอด อีเวต ที่เติมน้ํากลั่นแทน สารสกัดจากใบชา นําไปบ่มที่ 37 องศาเซลเซียสใน 5% คาร์บอนไดออกไซด์เป็นเวลา 48 ชั่วโมง เก็บเชื้อโดยนํา ไปปั่นที่ 3,000 รอบต่อนาที นําส่วนใสมาตรวจหาปริมาณโพลีแซคคาไรด์และปริมาณกรดแลกติก ผลการศึกษา โดยการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยอะโนวา (ANOVA) ที่ระดับความเชื่อมั่น 95% พบว่าสารสกัดจากใบชา ที่ความเข้มข้นต่างๆ สามารถยับยั้งการสร้างโพลีแซคคาไรด์และกรดแลกติกของแบคทีเรียได้อย่างมีนัยสําคัญ (p<0.05) ยกเว้นสารสกัดจากใบชาที่ความเข้มข้น 14.2% ที่ไม่สามารถยับยั้งการสร้างกรดแลกติกได้ แต่สารสกัดจากใบชาทุก ความเข้มข้นที่ได้ทําในการทดลองนี้ ยับยั้งการสร้างโพลีแซคคาไรด์ของแบคทีเรียได้อย่างไม่มีความแตกต่างกันทางสถิติ ส่วนผลต่อการสร้างกรดแลกติกพบว่ามีความแตกต่างกันในทุกความเข้มข้นโดยเมื่อความเข้มข้นของสารสกัด เพิ่มขึ้น การสร้างกรดแลกติกจะค่อย ๆ ลดลง สรุป สารสกัดจากใบชาทีความเข้มข้นที่เหมาะสมสามารถยับยั้งการสร้างโพลีแซคคาไรด์และกรดแลกติกของแบคทีเรีย จากเชื้อสเตร็พโตคอคคัส มิวแทนส์ ในหลอดทดลองได้
