การบริการด้านทันตกรรมประดิษฐ์ของกลุ่มงานทันตกรรมวชิรพยาบาล, อรวรรณ เจษฎาพันธ์

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อสํารวจการให้บริการทางทันตกรรมประดิษฐ์ของกลุ่มงานทันตกรรม วชิรพยาบาล ทั้งจํานวนผู้ป่วย ผู้มาบริการ และชนิดของงานที่ให้บริการในระยะยาว 5 ปี (พ.ศ. 2537-2541) เพื่อประโยชน์ในการวางแผนงาน ของกลุ่มงานและให้บริการได้เหมาะสมกับความต้องการของประชาชน วัสดุและวิธีการ สํารวจจํานวนผู้ป่วยที่มาขอรับบริการทางด้านทันตกรรมประดิษฐ์ที่กลุ่มงานทันตกรรมวชิรพยาบาล ตั้งแต่ปีพ.ศ. 2537-2541 โดยแบ่งกลุ่มผู้มารับบริการตามเพศและอายุ (ผู้ใหญ่, กลางคนและสูงอายุ) ตามประเภท ของงานทางด้านทันตกรรมประดิษฐ์โดยการหาจํานวนร้อยละของแต่ละชนิดของงานที่ให้บริการ รวมทั้งสํารวจอาชีพรายได้ สถานที่อยู่อาศัยจากทะเบียนประวัติผู้ป่วย ผลการศึกษา ในระยะ 5 ปี มีผู้มารับบริการจํานวน 2,418 ราย งานที่ให้บริการทางทันตกรรมประดิษฐ์จํานวน 2,893 ชิ้น พบว่าเพศหญิง (ร้อยละ 57.86) มารับบริการมากกว่าเพศชาย (ร้อยละ 42.14) งานที่ให้บริการมากที่สุด คือ ฟันปลอมชั่วคราว (ร้อยละ 60.13) รองลงมาคือฟันปลอมบางส่วนถอดได้ชนิดโลหะโคบอลต์ โครเมียมมีฟันค้ําจุน และไม่มีฟันค้ําจุน (ร้อยละ 16.29) และฟันปลอมทั้งปาก (ร้อยละ 14.59) ตามลําดับ ผู้สูงอายุจะเป็นผู้ที่มารับบริการมากที่สุด ปัจจัยที่มีผลกระทบต่อการใช้บริการขึ้นอยู่กับสถานภาพทางเศรษฐกิจ เขตที่อยู่อาศัย อาชีพ และสถานภาพทางสังคม สรุป บริการทางด้านทันตกรรมประดิษฐ์ของกลุ่มงานทันตกรรม วชิรพยาบาล 5 ปีที่ผ่านมาพบว่าผู้สูงอายุเป็นผู้ที่มา ใช้บริการมากที่สุด โดยงานที่มาขอรับบริการมากที่สุดคือ ฟันปลอมชั่วคราว ซึ่งอาจเป็นผลเนื่องจากสถานภาพทาง เศรษฐกิจ แต่เป็นความจําเป็นตามสภาพสังคมและเห็นว่ามีแนวโน้มที่ประชาชนจะมารับบริการทางด้านทันตกรรม ประดิษฐ์สูงขึ้น

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อเปรียบเทียบผลของการใส่ตะแกรงเหล็กกล้าไร้สนิมทั้งที่ทา และไม่ทากาวไชยาในอะคริเลตผลิต ภัณฑ์เคนจิ (Kenji) ต่อความแข็งแรงดัดขวาง (transverse strength) ของวัสดุฐานฟันปลอมอะคริลิกผลิตภัณฑ์ เมลิโอเดนต์ (Meliodent) รวมทั้งผลของการทํา thermocycling วิธีการ เตรียมชิ้นตัวอย่างวัสดุฐานฟันปลอมอะคริลิกรูปสี่เหลี่ยมผืนผ้าขนาด 65x10x2.5 มม. ซึ่งแบ่งเป็น 6 กลุ่มๆ ละ 10 ชิ้น ได้แก่ กลุ่มที่ 1) ไม่ได้เสริมแรงด้วยตะแกรงเหล็กกล้าไร้สนิม และไม่ผ่าน thermocycling กลุ่มที่ 2) ไม่ได้เสริมแรงด้วยตะแกรงเหล็กกล้าไร้สนิม และผ่าน thermocycling ที่ 8°C และ 55°C จํานวน 500 รอบ กลุ่มที่ 3) เสริมแรงด้วยตะแกรงเหล็กกล้าไร้สนิมที่ไม่ได้ทากาวไชยาในอะคริเลต และไม่ผ่าน thermocycling กลุ่มที่ 4) เสริมแรงด้วยตะแกรงเหล็กกล้าไร้สนิมที่ไม่ได้ทากาวไชยาโนอะคริเลต และผ่าน thermocycling กลุ่มที่ 5) เสริมแรง ด้วยตะแกรงเหล็กกล้าไร้สนิมที่ทากาวไชยาในอะคริเลต และไม่ผ่าน thermocycling กลุ่มที่ 6) เสริมแรงด้วยตะแกรง เหล็กกล้าไร้สนิมที่ทากาวไซยาโนอะคริเลต และผ่าน thermocycling จากนั้นทดสอบความแข็งแรงตัดขวางด้วยวิธี 3-point bending test ด้วยเครื่อง Instron universal testing machine นําผลมาวิเคราะห์เปรียบเทียบค่าเฉลี่ยความ แข็งแรงดัดขวางโดยการวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนแบบทางเดียว และ Tukey's HSD ที่ระดับนัยสําคัญ p<0.05 ผล ค่าเฉลี่ย (หน่วยเมกกะปาสคาล) และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐานของความแข็งแรงดัดขวางของวัสดุฐานฟันปลอม อะคริลิกดังต่อไปนี้ กลุ่มที่ 1 75.34 ±4.35 กลุ่มที่ 2 72.17±2.39 กลุ่มที่ 3 71.64±4.26 กลุ่มที่ 4 69.05±4.17 กลุ่มที่ 5 75.80±4.30 และกลุ่มที่ 6 67.75±2.79 ตามลําดับ จากการเปรียบเทียบค่าเฉลี่ยความแข็งแรงดัดขวาง ที่ระดับนัยสําคัญ p<0.05 พบว่าไม่มีความแตกต่างอย่างมีนัยสําคัญของค่าความแข็งแรงดัดขวางระหว่างกลุ่มที่ไม่ผ่าน thermocycling (กลุ่มที่ 1 3 และ 5) และพบว่า thermocycling ไม่ทําให้มีผลแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสําคัญใน กลุ่มที่ไม่ได้เสริม (กลุ่มที่ 1 และ 2) และเสริมตะแกรงเหล็กกล้าไร้สนิม (กลุ่มที่ 3 และ 4) แต่มีผลแตกต่างอย่าง มีนัยสําคัญในกลุ่มที่เสริมตะแกรงเหล็กกล้าไร้สนิมและทากาว (กลุ่มที่ 5 และ 6) สรุป ตะแกรงเหล็กกล้าไร้สนิมไม่ได้ช่วยเพิ่มความแข็งแรงดัดขวางให้กับวัสดุฐานฟันปลอมอะคริลิก และการทากาว ไชยาในอะคริเลตที่ตะแกรงเหล็กกล้าไร้สนิมก็ไม่ได้ช่วยเพิ่มความแข็งแรงดัดขวางให้กับวัสดุฐานฟันปลอมอะคริลิก นอกจากนี้ thermocycling มีผลทําให้ค่าความแข็งแรงตัดขวางลดลงเฉพาะในกลุ่มที่เสริมตะแกรงเหล็กกล้าไร้สนิม และทากาวไชยาโนอะคริเลต

วัตถุประสงค์ การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการเปลี่ยนแปลงของน้ําหนักผู้ป่วยก่อนการมัดฟันและภายหลัง การถอดการมัดฟันออก วิธีการศึกษา การศึกษากระทําในกลุ่มตัวอย่าง 3 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ กลุ่มที่ 1 เป็นกลุ่มที่มีกระดูกขากรรไกรล่างหักจาก อุบัติเหตุ กลุ่มที่ 2 เป็นกลุ่มที่ได้รับการผ่าตัดเลื่อนกระดูกขากรรไกรล่าง กลุ่มที่ 3 เป็นกลุ่มได้รับการผ่าตัดกระดูก ขากรรไกรล่างบางส่วนออกพร้อมการปลูกกระดูกทดแทน ผู้ป่วยทั้ง 3 กลุ่มได้รับการมัดฟันบนล่างติดกัน และบันทึก น้ําหนักก่อนการมัดฟัน เปรียบเทียบกันภายหลังการถอดมัดฟันออก และทุกกลุ่มได้รับการแนะนําให้รับประทานอาหาร ทุกอย่างที่มีอยู่ในแต่ละเศรษฐฐานะ แล้วนําข้อมูลมาวิเคราะห์หาความแตกต่างระหว่างกลุ่ม โดยได้ทําสถิติ ANOVA one way test. ผลการทดลองและสรุป ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ผู้ป่วยทั้ง 3 กลุ่ม มีน้ําหนักลดลงภายหลังการมัดฟัน กลุ่มที่ 1 และ 2 ไม่มีความแตกต่างกันทางสถิติ แต่เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับกลุ่มที่ 3 จะมีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ

Galathea intermedia is common, but cryptic, on Clyde maerl deposits where it lives in small groups of mixed sex and age, sharing shelters (typically dead Dosinia shells) to avoid predation. Its appearance is marked by six iridescent blue spots which may play an important role in intra- or interspecific interactions.

Breaking The Rules: A Rebuttal Of Normal-Tension Glaucoma, David Brey

Glaucoma is a disease of the eyes generally characterized by high intraocular pressure, optic nerve death, and visual loss. Open-angle glaucoma and angle-closure glaucoma are the two main forms of the disease However, there is one form of open angle glaucoma that cannot be described by the above abnormalities. This form is known as normal-tension glaucoma, and while it is characterized by optic nerve death and visual loss, it does not display an abnormally high intraocular pressure. Indeed, as this thesis argues, normal-tension glaucoma should not be labeled as a glaucoma disease at all.

It is widely acknowledged that the perirhinal cortex, located in the ventromedial aspect of the temporal lobe, is essential for certain types of memory in macaque monkeys. For example, removal of the perirhinal cortex yields severe impairments on tests of stimulus recognition and stimulus-stimulus association. There is considerable disagreement, however, about the most accurate way to characterize the function of the perirhinal cortex; some views emphasize a role in perception whereas others posit a role exclusively in declarative memory. In this paper, we review the literature on housing for psychiatric consumer/survivors since the publication of the Nelson and Smith Fowler (1987) review more than a decade ago. First, we review research and propose a definition to contrast key features of three approaches to housing: (a) custodial, (b) supportive, and (c) supported. Second, we examine studies of the relationships between the characteristics of housing and adaptational outcomes for residents (e.g., personal empowerment). Third, we review studies which have examined out-comes for residents for these three different housing approaches. We conclude by critically reflecting on the values and research of the …

The study of the use of toys with institutionalized adults began in the field of gerontological nursing (Bailey, Gilbert, & Herweyer, 1992; Francis & Baly, 1986; Mayers & Griffin, 1990; Milton & MacPhail, 1985). Hopper, Bayles, and Tomoeda (1998) described the comforting qualities of plush animals for people with dementia and began to explore the effects of these toys on the language production of women with Alzheimer's Disease. Women were found to produce more information in fewer words when the toys were present.

Acid digested brain containing 4 mg added ²⁷Al was ashed at 1000°C to prepare an Al₂O₃ target for accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) analysis of ²⁶Al. A glass-like material usually resulted which was thought to be aluminum (Al) oxyphosphate. The separation of Al and phosphate was investigated. Al, but not phosphate, was bound by a cation exchange resin (AG 50-X8). Hydrofluoric acid eluted the Al from the resin. Removal of phosphate from acid digested brain by this method produced an amorphous material after ashing that was easier to recover from the porcelain crucible and had a …

While a great deal of research focuses on representations of attachment, behavioral disorders, and life stress separately, research integrating these concepts has just recently begun (DeKlyen, 1996). The current study focuses on the links between transgenerational attachment, life stress, maternal psychopathology, and the development of behavior problems in preschool boys. Participants included 52 mothers of preschool boys (Mean Age = 56 months) who attended private preschool (N = 23) or a Head Start Program (N = 29). The purpose of this descriptive investigation was to determine the cultural adaptability of students attending culturally diverse and nonculturally diverse dental hygiene programs throughout the U.S. The dental hygiene schools were identified according to their ethnic diversity as reported by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation in the 1996-1997 Survey of Dental Hygiene Education Programs. Once the programs were identified, a random sample was taken from the diverse and non-diverse dental hygiene programs. A 50-item inventory, the Cross-Cultural Adaptability Inventory (CCAI), was mailed to the participating dental hygiene programs. The purpose of this study is to determine the attitudes and perceptions of medical students and physicians concerning Medicaid fraud. The primary tool was an anonymous survey distributed to both medical students and physicians in the Hampton Roads area. Previous research suggests that physicians would be more likely to view Medicaid fraud as less serious and less justifiable than medical students would. Since little research looks specifically at the attitudes and perceptions of medical students and physicians two theories, Differential Association and the Theory of Organizational Misconduct, were used because they best fit the research already out there. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of acute administration of heroin and ecgonine methyl ester (EME) on renin and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) secretion in time dated New Zealand White rabbits. Thirteen rabbits were studied. Arterial blood pressure and pCOz, increased significantly from a control value of 80 ± 8 mmHg and 30 ± 2 mmHg respectively to 93 ± 18 mmHg and 31 ± 1 mmHg. pO₂ decreased from 99 ± 8 mmHg to 90 ± 11 mmHg 10 minutes after heroin administration. EME caused arterial blood pressure to significantly increase from a control …

The current research project examined the psychometric properties of the substance abuse scales of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, Second Edition (MMPI-2) with an inmate population. The scales of interest included the MacAndrews Alcoholism Scale Revised (MAC-R), the Addiction Potential Scale (APS) and the Addiction Acknowledgement Scale (AAS).

A total of 80 subjects were administered the MMPI-2 which resulted in 73 valid profiles. Of the valid profiles, 54 were chemically dependent and 19 were nonchemically dependent inmates. There were no differences between groups in regard to sociodemographic variables.

Although thyroid hormones are critically important for the coordination of morphogenic processes in the fetus and neonate, premature exposure of the embryo to levels of the hormones present in the adult is detrimental and can result in growth retardation, malformations, and even death. We report here that the pregnant rat uterus expresses extremely high levels of the type 3 iodothyronine deiodinase (D3), which inactivates thyroxine and 3,3′,5-triiodothyronine by 5-deiodination. BACKGROUND: We studied the incidence, prevalence, and radiographic progression of symptomatic adjacent-segment disease, which we defined as the development of new radiculopathy or myelopathy referable to a motion segment adjacent to the site of a previous anterior arthrodesis of the cervical spine.

METHODS: A consecutive series of 374 patients who had a total of 409 anterior cervical arthrodeses for the treatment of cervical spondylosis with radiculopathy or myelopathy, or both, were followed for a maximum of twenty-one years after the operation. Clinical psychology has received little attention as a subject in health sciences library collections. This study seeks to demonstrate the relative importance of the monographic literature to clinical psychology through the examination of citations in graduate student theses and dissertations at the Fordham Health Sciences Library, Wright State University. Dissertations and theses were sampled randomly; citations were classified by format, counted, and subjected to statistical analysis. Books and book chapters together account for 35% of the citations in clinical psychology dissertations, 25% in nursing theses, and 8% in biomedical sciences theses and dissertations.
