The purpose of this descriptive study was to examine differences in depressive symptomology and perceived body image in postmenopausal women who currently used HRT with women who never used HRT and women who had previously used HRT but were currently not. Few medical treatments presently available for postmenopausal and menopausal women have such substantial benefits, and risks, as hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The pattern of distribution of fibronectin adhesins on yeast and hyphal-form Candida albicanswas studied with gold-labelled fibronectin and transmission electron microscopy. The germ-tube parts of the hyphal-form cells were the major binding sites for gold-labelled fibronectin, and the attached yeast-cell parts and yeast-form cell remained unlabelled. Therefore, the walls of the germ tube parts of hyphal-form cells might be sites of important interactions between C. albicans and host tissues containing fibronectin.

In this study, we have evaluated the prevalence of RF and anti-n-DNA in dif-ferent age subpopulations grouped according to their clinical status. RF and anti-n-DNA were measured in the serum of 51 elderly people considered to be successfully aging (group 1), 65 chronically ill elderly (group 2), 65 chronically ill patients under 65 years (group 3) and 30 patients with rheumatoid arthritis (group 4). The lack of a rapid and reliable method for diagnosis of active tuberculosis necessitated the development of new laboratory techniques. Diagnostic value of a re-cently developed ELISA for the detection of lgA antibodies to Kp 90 antigen of Mycobacterium tuberculosis was evaluated in this study and the results were compared with the conventional methods and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). In this study, serum and fingernali Cu and Mg levels of 10 children with acute Iymphoblastic leukemia and 12 healthy children were determined. Copper and magnesium levels of the sera and supernatants were measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. (Perkin-Elmer 400). Fingernail Cu and Mg levels of the patients were 8.67 ± 5.35 and 0.22 ± 0.12 µmol/mg of nail respectively. The values for control subjects were 4.27 ± 2.32 and 0.14 ± 0.03 µmol/mg of nail. The purpose of this survey research is to survey male and female high school varsity track athletes regarding the occurrence of low back pain, and then correlating the occurrence of a spondylolysis and/or spondylolisthesis with athletic involvement in the sport of track. A questionnaire was sent to 115 high school varsity track athletes in varsity track programs in the state of North Dakota. Only those athletes who participate in high jump, pole vault, discus, shot put, javelin, and 400M sprints or shorter were asked to take part in the survey.

This study was carried out in the Ankara Rehabilitation Centre over an eight month period. A total of 428 urine samples was collected from inpatients with long-term catheterization for diagnosis of bacteriuria. Urinary tract infection was detected in three hundreds and thirty-one samples. Escherichia coli was found to be the highest causative agent. Moreover in forty of these samples Providencia spp were determined as the fifth highest causative agent. In this study, a new technique developed by us, called the "pad glove method" was used to measure sweat intensity in the palms of 15 patients with palmoplantar hyperhidrosis, and of 15 control subjects. Quantitative results in the hyperhidrosis group 2.1861±0.0836 grams/hour for the right hand and 2.2478±0.0961 grams/hour for the left hand, while in the control group were 0.3278±0.0419 grams/hour and 0.371±0.0501 grams/hours, respectively. The importance of bone marrow biopsy in Hudgkin's Disase is well known. The incidence of bone marrow involvement in Hudgkin's Disase varies from 2% to 29%. The presence of myelofibrosis is not sufficent evidence for a definitive diagnosis of bone marrow involment. Patients having myelofibrosis as a first symptom without pripherallympadenopathy must be distinguished from patients with idiopathic myelofibrosis. In this study, we examined the frequency of bone marrow involvement and the degree of myelofibrosis in Hudgkin's Disase. Age-related decline in intellectual abilities is domain-specific; that is, whether older adults show decreased intellectual performance depends on the type of ability being assessed (Foster & Taylor, 1920; Horn & Cattell, 1967; Kaufman, Reynolds & McLean, 1989; Sattler, 1982). Specifically, verbal abilities tend to decrease with older age (Botwinick, 1977; Cornelius, 1984; Horn & Cattell, 1967; Lachman & Jelalian, 1984). This prevalent finding has been labeled the "classic aging pattern" (Botwinick, 1977). The characteristics of blood flow patterns detected by transvaginal pulsed and color Doppler ultrasonography were evoluated in ectopic pregnanacies. Two hundred and fifteen patients with surgically and histopathologically confirmed ectopic preg-nancies were included in this study. Of 215 patients, 113 (52.5 %) had an ectopic trophoblastic flow. 106 of them (93.8 %)showed a typical trophoblastic flow characterized by a high-velocity and low-impedance flow, whereas 7 (6.2 %) had bizarre blood waveforms including high-impedance and reversed diastolic flow.
