In this study a survey was made of the attitudes of Indonesian Seventh-day Adventists toward nursing. This was done for the purpose of discovering why there is a shortage of women applicants to the Seventh-day Adventist nursing school in Bandung, Java. The study was accomplished through the use of questionnaires administered to four selected groups in two geographic areas of Indonesia, and revealed attitudes of two adult groups and two student group. One hundred and twenty-one persons responded to the questionnaires.

It is surprising that there exist relatively few studies of the movement of the mandible or lower jaw with regard to misarticulation while the activity of the tongue, on the contrary, has received much attention. The purpose of this experiment is to investigate the extent of mandibular movement in the production of nonsense syllables and sentences as spoken by children with dyslalic and normal speech.

Statement of the problem: The purpose of this study was to find out to what extent the responsibility of health teaching is being met by the health team in the medical and surgical departments of a selected hospital.

Method and procedure used in securing the data: The data for this study were collected by the questionnaire technique. One hundred questionnaires were used in the study. This study was conducted during a five weeks' period using medical and surgical patients who were physically and mentally competent to answer the questionnaire and who were hospitalized from four to fifteen days.

Reed canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea) has long been recognized as adapted to wetlands and those subject to periodic flooding. In Utah, Wilson (1955) estimate that 40 percent of the valley bottom land is flooded at least part of the year. Much of this land is very dry late in the summer. Forages such as Alsike clover tolerate flooding and some salt but do not perform well under drouth. Work by Bolton (1946) indicated that flooding for 49 day did not cause serious permanent damage to Reed canarygrass. The author has observed Reed canarygrass growing in a shallow reservoir which …

Q fever, as a recognized clinical entity, is often referred to as a new disease of man. Pneumonic in character but lacking clean-cut pathognomic characteristics, in all probability Q fever has been confused in the past with influenza, primary atypical pneumonia (1), or included as an undifferentiated disease under "virus pneumonia." Geddis Smith (2), writing in 1941, stated:

...influenza, pneumonia, "pleurisy", or bronchitis ... form a nosological jungle in which bacteria and viruses roam at will, despoiling the human race and defying both classification and control. Symptoms overlap and no one knows how many different diseases lurk behind them.

The importance of auditory phonetic discrimination in speech therapy. One of the basic criteria for good articulation is that the individual sounds or phonetic units which make up a word must be produced correctly and arranged properly in sequence. According to Van Riper (32:127), when a speaker adds, omits or distorts a particular phoneme to the extent that it alters word meaning, calls attention to itself, and/or produces unpleasant emotional reactions in the speaker or audience, he is adjusted to have an articulation defect.

This paper does not purport to be an examination of Zen or Taoism, but rather a view of certain aspects of Zen and Taoism, but rather a view of certain aspects of Zen and Taoism from the vantage point of contemporary psychology, to see if a metaphysic, a philosophical resting-place, might not be found for the admittedly pragmatic science of clinical psychology.

The questions the paper asks, then, and attempts to answer, are (1) can such a formulation be made, and (2) does psychotherapy conducted from this point of view move satisfactorily.

During the spring semesters of 1955 and 1956, while the writer was under the supervision of Dr. A. E. Noble, a preliminary survey was initiated on parasites in local fishes, amphibians, and reptiles occurring in the vicinity of Stockton, California. The collection of specimens in this survey included sixteen green sunfish, Lepomis cyanella, and two bluegills, L. macrochirus. Larval trematodes recovered from the heart and liver of these specimens belonged to the family Diplostomatidae Poirier (1886) which is characterized by a conspicuous constriction separating the fore and hind-bodies.
