Various factors—embryology, host associations, and seasonal changes In eye worn populations—tending to promote the propagation of T. califomlensls were studied.

The early embryology closely parallels that of other nematode species.

The mature embryos remain alive in saline at 35°C as long as 5 days. Dead embryos can be distinguished from living ones by virtue of the rapid staining by methylene blue by the former. Parturient female thelazias release embryos into saline, and embryos are found regularly in tear secretions of infected laboratory rabbits.

Ovic embryos possess an enveloping egg membrane containing chitin. On this account, this eye worm species is …

Justification of this research. This experiment was designed to test the prevalent opinion that poor speaking reduces comprehension. Typical of such opinions is the conclusion of Knower, Phillips, and Koeppel¹, who state:

"The comparative effectiveness of speaking and oral reading as methods of presenting material depends upon the quality of performance. Poor speaking seems to be the least effective method of presenting informative materials. There is a direct relationship between the quality of speaking performance and the amount of material recalled. Poor speakers produced least recall."

When stuttering behavior is viewed as a problem in learning, the phenomenon of adaptation frequently receives attention. A standard adaptation experiment consists of having the person who stutters re-read the same passage, or a passage of equal difficulty, a specified number of times. Under these conditions a relative reduction¹ in stuttering frequency usually occurs. Experimentalists and clinicians alike have long been puzzled as to why this decrement takes place, since stuttering is generally considered by many writers^2,3 as a self-reinforcing disorder; that is, stuttering produces more stuttering.

The purpose of thin study was to develop a plan for inservice education for the graduate nurse staff in a small maternity unit that would encourage optimum nursing care.

A questionnaire was prepared and given to those nurses who had been employed in the maternity unit during the sixteen month period prior to the date of mailing the questionnaire.

Would more men enter and remain in nursing, if the Seventh-day Adventist denomination would recognize the professional skills of qualified men nurses and utilize them on the same basis on which they utilize the professional skills of a qualitied women nurses?

Method:

The normative-survey method was employed in this study, to collect the necessary data. Two groups of men were used in the survey; men nurses who graduated from Seventh-day Adventist schools of nursing between the periods 1950 to 1955, and college men representing the two lower division classes.

The purpose of this work was to determine the extent and effects of infestation of the eye worm of mammals, Thelazia californiensis, and to elucidate through experimentation or observation the mode of transmission.

A survey of literature revealed that thelaziasie (infestation by Thelazia species) may cause serious pathological changes in the eye and its adnexa, sometimes resulting in blindness. It was found that reports of thelaziasis in the United States were (with two exceptions) of cases in California. Employing the electron microscope, the writer studied the ultra-structure of the choroid plexus of the lateral and the 4th ventricles of the brain in seven species of animals comparatively. No such extensive comparative investigation has been made before with this instrument. The animals represent, in the main, species which have served previously, both in physiological and light microscopical studies on this organ, and consist of several specimens each of the frog, the opossum, the hamster, the guinea pig, the rat, the rabbit and the dog.

To establish the need for new health education pamphlets to be used as a supplement to the health education program in the area of maternal and infant care in Taiwan, a survey of pamphlets already available on the Island was made.

The purpose of this study was to find out what levels of responsibilities recent graduates of four Seventh-day Adventist basic college programs in nursing assumed during the first year following graduation; to find if these recent graduates felt adequately prepared for their positions; and to find out why they accepted their positions.

In this study an effort was made to determine, in part, if the fears of persons who have been decrying the use of subliminal stimulation in advertising were realistic. Accepting the work of other scholars that this phase of perception does exist, this writer attempted to explore one facet of the problem with this hypothesis: persons who receive subliminal stimuli will be more apt to consciously recall the stimuli if they are aware that the stimuli are being given.

The principal objective of this thesis is to investigate the densities of four different homologous series of urea adducts to discover the effect functional groups have on the density and molar ratio of the adducts. The four series selected are straight chain saturated hydrocarbons of the following types: n-paraffins, alcohols, acids and bromides.
