Hypertension Screening In Dental Settings And The Need To Address Dental Insurance Literacy, Dorothy Nuckols

Journal of Extension

Extension has an active and dynamic health insurance literacy program with certified educators nationwide, but dental insurance literacy is an unmet need. Lack of insurance literacy is a barrier to screening request and follow-up. Participants in our longitudinal study visited their dentists as regularly as they visited their primary health practitioners. This study shows the need for Extension to add dental insurance literacy to the menu of health insurance literacy programs to impact the prevalence of hypertension.
