Conjunctival Pedicle Graft In Dogs(การทำ Conjunctival Pedicle Graft ในสุนัข), Chanok Wanichanon, Jittima Boonvittaya, Nalinee Tuntivanich, Pranee Tuntivanich, Atichat Brahmasa, Kumpanat Suntornwipat
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
Conjunctival pedicle graft in dogs were studied. Twelve dogs were divided into three groups: conjunctival pedicle graft without protection, conjunctival pedicle graft with third eyelid flap, and conjunctival pedicle graft with tarsorraphy. Ocular discharge, photophobia, corneal opacity, corneal vascularization and graft vessels were detected after operation. The success rates of 100, 75 and 0% were observed in group 2, 3 and 1. The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
Serum antibody titers against Canine Parvovirus (CPV) in puppies after the first CPV vaccination were studied. Total 58 serum samples were obtained from Small Animal Hospital, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University. Results revealed by Hemagglutination Inhibition test showed that the puppies had HI-titers between 320-20,480 with Geometric Mean Titer (GMT) 2,717.6. In addition, another set of 56 samples obtained from puppies in Royal Thai Army Military Working Dog Center and private kennels before and 7, 14-day-post vaccination were included. It was appeared that titers ranged from 640-5,120, 320-2,560 and 320-5,120 with GMT 1,413.3, 1,203.1 and 1,280 in samples from …

Infection with the fluke Fasciola gigantica was detected by the ELISA and the beads techniques and used to determine the antibody titre and egg count per gram (epg) in cattle and buffalo respectively. Each group of 4 cattle and 4 buffalo were infected with 500 and 1000 metacercariae. The experiments were carried out over a period of 28 weeks with sampling taking place every 2-4 weeks. Using the ELISA test, the results revealed, that the patterns of antibody titres against F. gigantica in infected cattle and buffalo, were similar. Considerable quantities of non-dietary protein are secreted into the digesta of pigs and poultry. This protein is defined as the protein found in the chyme or faeces when a nitrogen-free diet is fed to animals. Endogenous proteins comprise protein, peptides, amino acids and nitrogen-containing substances from saliva, bile, pancreatic, gastric and intestinal secretions; plasma and sloughed epithelial cells. These endogenous proteins are digested and absorbed in a manner similar to those of dietary origin. Finding of Schistosoma spindale egg in cattle can be easily performed by mucosal scraping of rectum. Mucosal samples of 2-3 cm. long were scraped from dorsal side of the rectum by extended curette, spread on slide and stained with 0.015% malachite green for 10-15 minutes subsequently examined under the microscope. This method gave more accuracy results than the other faecal examination methods: saline sedimentation, formalin preserved faeces sedimentation, Kato's thick smear and MIFC techniques.(การตรวจหาไข่พยาธิใบไม้เลือดของโคสามารถทำได้ง่าย โดยการขูดเยื่อบุผนังลำไส้ด้านบนของเรคตั้ม ยาวประมาณ 3-4 ซม. ด้วยคิวเรทต่อด้าม ย้อมด้วยสี มาลาไคท์กรีน 0.015% บนสไลด์นานประมาณ 10-15 นาที แล้วนำมาตรวจด้วยกล้องจุลทรรศน์เปรียบเทียบกับผลการพิสูจน์โดยวิธีตกตะกอนด้วยน้ำเกลือเข้มข้น 1% หรือวิธีตกตะกอนธรรมดาโดยใช้อุจจาระดองฟอร์มาลิน 10% หรือเทคนิคของ Kato's thick smear และ MIFC พบว่าการตรวจด้วยวิธีขูดเยื่อบุเรคตั้มได้ผลดีกว่าวิธีอื่น ๆ)

The resorptive capacity of osteoclasts in vitro has been used as an indicator of bone resorption. However, the kinetics of osteoclast development and senescence is not well understood. It has been noted that mononuclear precursors migrate to calcified substrate and after multi-nucleation become competent bone resorbing cells. Osteoclasts, once finished a wave of resorption, become senescent. In order to determine the survival characteristics of osteoclast populations involved in calcified tissue destruction, we have investigated the time course of the recruitment to dentin and apoptosis of osteoclasts. Plaque development on pure titanium in a 24-hour period is described in an in vivo human model. Stents with titanium and root cementum specimens were applied to volunteers, who suspended oral hygiene procedures for 24 hours. The specimens were removed at 2, 4 and 24 hours and studied with a scanning electron microscope. A global area of 240 µm x 300 µm, composed of the sum of twelve 20 µm x 25 µm fields randomly selected, was examined for each specimen. The presence of cocci, short rods, long rods and bacterial aggregation, and bacteria density was recorded for each field. …

Thin films of hydroxylapatite, about 500 nm, were formed on Ti6Al4V by excimer laser ablation. Ten different deposition conditions were used such as deposition atmosphere (vacuum, pure water vapor, mixture of Ar and water vapor), substrate temperature, target-substrate distance and energy density. Mechanical and physical analyses were carried out by Rutherford backscattering and particle induced X-ray emission; crystallinity of films was determined by X-ray diffraction, surface topography by scanning electron microscopy and adhesion by a scratch test. The degree of curvature of palatal canals of two hundred and fourteen maxillary molars were measured using Schneider's method. The results were; 95 teeth or 44.39% were 0°, and 119 teeth or 55.60% were curved to the buccal, the ratio straight: curved was 1:1.25, the mean of curvature was 15.39°, the most frequency of curvature was 20°-29°. At the 95% confidence interval the incidence of the buccal curvature of palatal canal is 48.3% to 61.7%.
