In this study, a total of 100 ice cream samples, collected from various patisserie in Ankara, 30 of them vanilla, 26 of them chocolate and 44 of them fruit ice cream samples, were analysed microbiologically. While coliform and E. coli counts were determined with MPN technique, in the isolation of the salmonella enrichment technique and in the isolation of the total viable count, lactobacilli, micrococci and staphylococci, coagulase positive staphylococci, enterobacteriaceae, enterococci, pseudomonas, yeast and molds, drop plating technique were used. Prostaglandin F2a was commonly used for synchronisation in mares. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of single and double doses of PGF2a on estrous, ovulation and pregnancy rates. Therefore 43 Thoroughbred mares, between 4-17 years old, were used. Thirty mares 10 mg PGF2a (Dinoprost Tromethamine, Dinolytic) was injected intramuscularly, regardless of the stage of the estrous cycle, for synchronization. In this study, two porcupines (Hystrix cristata) were used to investigate the bones of fore limb. It was observed that the area of fossa supraspinata (54.7%) was larger than that of fossa infraspinata (45.3%). Processus hamatus and processus suprahamatus were present and processus coracoideus was well developed. Tuberculum majus elevated slightly over the level of caput humeri. Tuberositas deltoidea was well developed and tuberositas teres major et minor were prominent. Foramen supratrochleare, crista epicondyli lateralis and sulcus ulnaris were present. Researches On The Ripening Of Turkish Fermented Sausage Using A Local Starter Culture Combination, Bülent Nazli

This study is realized in the aim of investigate the starter culture use effect on the ripening of Turkish fermented sau-sage. The starter culture combination obtained from Turkish fermented sausage microflora included Staphylococcus carnosus and Lactobacillus plantarum strains. Organoleptic, physico-chemical and microbiological analyses were carried out on the Ist, 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th and 15th days of ripening period. Results showed that best quality specifications for Turkish fermented sausage are obtained on 6th and 9th days of ripening period.

The Serum Zinc And Copper Values Of The Morkaraman And Tuj Sheep Grownup In The Pasture Conditions In And Around Kars, Necati Kaya, Necati Utlu, Bekir Sami Uyanik, Ayla Özcan

This study was performed on 100 sheep, of which 50 were Morkaraman and 50 were Tuj, grown up in the pasture conditions in and around Kars. The serum zinc and copper values of the animals were analysed with Atomic Absorbtion Spectrophotometre. The serum zinc and copper values were respectively determined as; 40.56 ± 5.6 µg/dl, 80.10 ± 7.49 µg/dl in Morkaramans and, 38.72 ± 5.32 µg/dl, 75.04 ± 6.58 µg/dl in Tujs. There were no significant differences between the value of zinc and copper statistically.

In this study the data on the coccidia of gallinaceous birds in Azerbaijan were presented. Chickens and pheasants have already been examined earlier concerning the presence of Eimeria and Isospora. Peacocks and quails are studied in this aspect for the first time. The examination of the gallinaceous birds concerning the presence of crytosporidia oocysts has been also carried out for the first time. The results obtained are indicative of the presence of a few coccidian species in the gallinaceous birds which have not been detected in Azerbaijan before.

Faecal samples of 172 diarrhoeic and 130 non-diarrhoeic cattle were examined for the presence of Cryptosporidium oocysts. The prevalence of infection in diarrhoeic and non-diarrhoeic cattle was 63.3% and 69.2%, respectively. The infection was prevalent in cattle over three years old, in both diarrhoeic and non-diarrhoeic animals. In both groups, oocyst sheeding level of (+) was the most common. Cryptosporidium-positive faecal specimens were examined for the presence of Escherichia coli K 99 and rotavirus. E. coli K 99 was isolated from the faeces of 35 (32.1%) diarrhoeic and 23 (25.5%) non-diarrhoeic animals. Rotavirus was not detected in any of the …

A case of spontaneosly ruptured splenic hemangiosarcoma with abdominal dissemination in a 12-year-old male German shepherd dog is described. At necropsy, a ruptured tumor mass was seen in the ventral region of the visceral surface of the spleen, and disseminated tumor masses were seen throughout the peritoneal cavity. Histologically, in both the primary tumor mass and dis-seminated tumor masses, atypical endothelial cells lining vascular spaces as small clefts or as cavernous channels were observed. In this study reproductive performance of female rainbow trout broodstock ( Oncorhynchus mykiss) in a commercial trout farm in Eastern Black Sea Region were evaluated during 1995 spawning season. Mean total and relative fencundity values were 2304±425 egg/individual and 1364±281 egg/kg, respectively, while mean egg dia meter was 5.2±0.21 mm. Fertilisation rate on average was 73.7% of total fencundity. 84.6% of the fertilised eggs was eyed and 96.0% of those eyed was hatched. The chi-square and Wishart distributions play an important role in animal breeding applications, especially in the estima-tion of variance components using Bayesian methods. These two distributions are so related that one can easily be derived from the other. In other words, the chi-square distribution is a particular case of the Wishart distribution or the Wishart distribution is a mul-tivariate generalization of the chi-square distribution. This article provides a simple mathematical basis of the above-mentioned dis-tributions; it shows how one is derived from the other and in what from they are used in animal breeding applications.

The aim of the this study was to develop a model to estimate the individual feed consumption of fattening lambs which were fed in groups adlibitum. The individual feed consumption and live weight data obtained from the 3 previous works weresed. The feed consumption of 76 lambs in 41 different fattening periods were estimated by using the developed model and individual consumption values and group averages were compared with the estimated values. The model estimated the individual feed intake better than group averages in 33 of 41 calculations.

Primer oocytes (n=157) collected from ovaries of slaughtered cows were matured at 39°C with 95-100% humidity and under a gas mixture of 5% O 2 , 5% CO 2 and 90% N 2 for 22 (n=52), 24 (n=52) and 26 (n=53) hours. Modified Parker's Medium (MPM) supplemented with FSH and 20% ECS was used as maturation medium.
