In this study we have showed that zinc ion has an inhibitory activity on imipenem and meropenem suspectibility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. When zinc ion concentration of Mueller-Hinthon agar (MHA) media was gradually increased the zone diameters of imipenem and meropenem gradually decreased. So we concluded that zinc concentration in the media might effect imipenem and meropenem susceptibility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and might indicate false resistance to imipenem and meropenem. Therefore the use of these antipseudomonal antibiotics in Pseudomonas infections may be restricted.

The antibacterial activity of zinc acetate against Staphylococcus auerus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates was measured in Mueller-Hinton broth containing different amounts of zinc acetate using spectrophotometry. Staphylococcus auerus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates were inhibited by zinc acetate (p

The effect of zinc salts is defined by several studies. The aim of this study is to investigate how the short period toothbrushing with equal volumes of a toothpaste containing 0.75% zinccitrate effects the salivary zinc levels over a period of 7 hours. In our study a significant increase in zinc measurements was observed 5 minutes after toothbrushing. Although 7 th hour measurements were higher than 0 hour measurements; these values were found approximately similar to intial control measurements. This result shows that the amount of zinc passed by toothpaste to saliva completely disappeared at the end of 7 th …
