Genus Ficus belongs to family Moraceae having 40 genera and over 1000 species worldwide. Different methods have been used for phytochemical screening of medicinal plants like total phenolics content (TPC) and total flavonoids content (TFC) assays to quantify phenolics and flavonoids. The phytochemical analysis exhibited highest total phenolics content in M extract of stem and total flavonoids content in ethyl acetate (EA) extract of leaves i.e. 61.2±1.3 µg GAE/mg extract and 25.1±0.9 µg QE/mg extract respectively. Current study was intended to investigate the cytotoxic potential of Bombax ceiba L.by executing a wide range of in vitro assays. Brine shrimp lethality assay showed that stem wood’s chloroform (CH) extract was highly toxic (LC₅₀ 42.41 ± 3.40 µg/ml) followed by acetone : ethyl acetate (AC:EA) extract with LC₅₀ value of 72.92 ± 4.41 µg/ml. n-Hexane (NH) extract of root wood part caused 70.95 ± 1.77% inhibition of THP-1 cell line at 20 μg/ml concentration (IC₅₀ 15 ± 0.56 µg/ml). Current study intends to investigate the extraction yield, phytochemical analysis and antioxidant potential of selected plant by executing a wide range of in vitro assays. This was done to suggest the most proficient solvent system and plant part for isolation and purification of probable bioactive leads. The colorimetric estimation of total phenolic, flavonoid contents, total antioxidant capacity, total reducing power and free radical scavenging activity was done. Microvesicle particles (MVP) are 100-1000 nm vesicles that bud from the cell membrane and transmit intercellular signals locally and systemically via their bioactive cargo (e.g. cytokines). We have previously shown that thermal burn injury or UVB radiation result in the formation Platelet Activating Factor (PAF), and UVB or a PAF agonist (CPAF) can promote MVP formation in keratinocytes. Thermal burn and UVB radiation can result in systemic effects, even though their injury is localized to the skin. We therefore propose that PAF-producing injuries, UVB irradiation or thermal burn injury, result in the formation of MVPs that can potentially transport cytokines …

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of task complexity (TC) and time pressure (TP) on air traffic controller’s (ATC) performance and mental workload. Sixteen students enrolled in an aviation college completed four scenarios which were a subset of the ATCPrep software for the AT-SAT. Fifteen performance variables were measured (e.g., conflict resolution). Additionally, NASA-TLX was used to test participants’ mental workload. As expected, for most of the performance variables, high TC andhigh TP resulted in the lowest participant performance. For the three performance variables, TP had a differential effect on TC. College tuitions rise at disparate rates with starting salaries and inflation, causing student debt to weigh on social work graduates. Data was collected from 701 social workers in an NASW - Ohio Chapter survey to investigate this disparity and its consequences. The purpose of this study was to analyze the qualitative data set, 174 written comments, for themes and perceptions. The following themes, echoed in current research on the topics of social work salary and student debt burden, were identified: unmanageable debt and financial burden, varying lengths of time and repayment methods, social workers feeling undervalued and underpaid, loan forgiveness …

Post Herpetic Neuralgia (PHN) is a painful condition that occurs after reactivation of the dormant Herpes Zoster Virus.Typically PHN presents with a unilateral rash affecting a single dermatome which is accompanied by burning, irritation, and hypersensitivity for >3 months.Current treatment includes anticonvulsants, tricyclic antidepressants, narcotic/nonnarcotic painkillers, and topical lidocaine.

We propose the utilization of a superconcentrated transdermal patch of capsaicin called Qutenza 8%, which is 300 times more potent than current OTC capsaicin. The treatment protocol using Qutenza to treat refractory PHN proposes a novel approach to the treatment of this condition.

As ovarian cancer progresses, the patient has changes to the immune system and energy metabolism with symptoms being weight loss, nausea, and fatigue. Changes to the immune system include overexpression of proinflammatory cytokines. One such cytokine is Interleukin-6 (IL-6), which is a useful prognostic marker to measure disease progression. Glioma stem cells (GSCs) play an important role in glioblastoma prognosis. Exosomes (EXs) mediate cell communication by delivering microRNAs (miRs). Glioblastoma has a high level of miR-21 which could upregulate vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression. We hypothesized GSC-EXs can promote the angiogenic ability of endothelial cells (ECs) through miR-21/VEGF signal. GSCs were isolated from U-251 cells with stem cell marker CD133. TRPM7 is an ion channel/protein kinase belonging to TRP melastatin and eEF2 kinase families. Under physiological conditions, most native TRPM7 channels are inactive, due to inhibition by cytoplasmic Mg2+, protons and polyamines. ITRPM7 is strongly potentiated when cell cytosol is depleted of Mg2+ or alkalinized. In Jurkat T cells, Mg2+ inhibition involves a high and a low affinity inhibitor sites, whereas proton inhibition involves only one site. Like many other TRP channels, TRPM7 is activated by PI(4,5)P2 and suppressed by its hydrolysis. Muscle proprioceptive afferents provide feedback critical for successful execution of motor tasks via specialized mechanoreceptors housed within skeletal muscles: muscle spindles, supplied by group Ia and group II afferents, and Golgi tendon organs, supplied by group Ib afferents. The morphology of these proprioceptors and their associated afferents has been studied extensively in the cat soleus, and to a lesser degree, in the rat; however, quantitative analyses of proprioceptive innervation in the mouse soleus are comparatively limited. We evaluate a newly developed symbology that provides the pilot predicted and advisory airspeed information. This information is not only based on the current state of the aircraft, but also takes into account the wind field ahead of the aircraft measured by an onboard LIDAR system. Airline pilots flew landing approaches in wind shear scenarios that demanded careful consideration of whether to land on go-aroundin JAXA's full flight simulator.
