Purpose: Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a pain disorder that typically follows several forms of trauma, including surgery or fractures. The diagnostic gold standard for CRPS is the Budapest diagnostic criteria. In the general population, CRPS is 3-4 times more common in middle-aged women. Introduction: Smoking cigarettes remains a leading modifiable risk factor for preventable health conditions. In the United States, the health burden of smoking disproportionately impacts low-income individuals. Multimorbidity is common in this group, complicating treatment and worsening outcomes. Identifying multimorbidity clusters can support targeted, individualized interventions. This study aimed to identify multimorbidity clusters among individuals who smoke and experience economic hardship and provide clinical recommendations to enhance health outcomes.

Next-generation mass spectrometry platforms (Orbitrap Astral, timsTOF Ultra) are reshaping proteomics by enhancing analytical depth and sensitivity. We compared these platforms against Orbitrap Exploris 480 using neonatal mouse lung tissues from a bronchopulmonary dysplasia model (n = 12), employing four acquisition strategies: Exploris 480 DDA/DIA, Astral HR-DIA, and timsTOF Ultra DIA-PASEF. All platforms identified ∼4000 proteins in common, with 98% proteome coverage of data-dependent acquisition (DDA) identifications using data-independent (DIA) methods and 92% concordance between next-generation systems. Orbitrap Astral and timsTOF Ultra quantified >225,000 peptides and 13,000 proteins, representing ∼800% and ∼300% greater depth than Exploris 480 DDA, respectively. …

In patients undergoing endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS), the incidence and clinical impact are poorly characterized, and no validated prediction tool is currently available. Cutaneous Rosai-Dorfman disease (CRDD) is an uncommon non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis that may occur without systemic involvement and lacks specific clinical features. We report a 17-year-old female with a slowly enlarging chest lesion initially diagnosed as granulomatous dermatitis on a 4-mm punch biopsy. The lesion was treated as an inflammatory process without improvement. Complete excision revealed a multinodular dermal and subcutaneous infiltrate of large histiocytes demonstrating emperipolesis, confirming CRDD. Systemic evaluation was negative. The initial limited biopsy did not capture defining features, delaying diagnosis.

This study aimed to analyse the symptomatic differences of hip dysplasia before or after separate surgical interventions, including pain location and characteristics, severity, patient-reported outcomes, and a body pain diagram. A REDCap-based survey was distributed through social media from October 2023 to May 2024 and targeted individuals with current or past hip pain. Background: Nerve conduits are used to bridge peripheral nerve defects caused by trauma, iatrogenic injury, or oncologic disruption. Three-dimensional (3D) biomimetic scaffolds for peripheral nerve regeneration have advanced significantly in recent years, driven by improvements in printing technology and neuronal seeding techniques. We present the case of a seven-year-old fully immunized male who developed an intensely pruritic, generalized maculopapular rash that progressed to vesicles. The patient’s rash was initially diagnosed by his primary care provider as possible scabies and treated with topical permethrin. Our examination revealed a diffuse maculopapular and vesicular exanthem with lesions at various stages of evolution, eventually progressing to secondary cellulitis. The patient’s presentation, consistent with varicella (chickenpox), highlights the diagnostic challenges of breakthrough varicella infection and potential complications in fully vaccinated children. Background: Robotic-assisted Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (R-PCI) is an advanced technique offering potential advantages for both patients and interventional cardiology practices. In 2023, Can Tho S.I.S General Hospital implemented its first robotic system for PCI procedures. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and clinical outcomes during the early learning curve of R-PCI.

Methods: This prospective study included all patients undergoing R-PCI with the CorPath GRX Vascular Robotic System at Can Tho S.I.S General Hospital from April to September 2023. Baseline patient characteristics, procedural details, and six-month follow-up data were collected. Primary outcomes included Clinical Success, defined as < 30% residual diameter stenosis in the target vessel without major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) during hospitalization (e.g., death, myocardial infarction, target-vessel revascularization, stroke), and robotic success, defined as achieving clinical success with partial manual support or no manual support.

This study evaluated whether discrepancies in tibial sesamoid position (TSP) between anteroposterior (AP) and sesamoid axial radiographs are associated with first-ray deformity parameters: first metatarsal rotation angle (MRA), sesamoid rotation angle (SRA), intermetatarsal angle (IMA), and hallux valgus angle (HVA). We hypothesized that increased frontal-plane external rotation of the first metatarsal would be the primary contributor to AP–axial TSP mismatch.

Statement of Purpose: This case presents a rare sclerosing-type atypical lipomatous tumor with myxomatous features—the first and only known reported case of an ALT in the foot—along with its pathology, treatment, and management.

Case Study: Atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcoma (ALT/WDL) represents the most common liposarcoma subtype, with recurrence and dedifferentiation risk influenced by tumor location. Retroperitoneal tumors recur frequently, while those in the lower extremity rarely do. Liposarcoma of the foot is exceedingly rare.

Accurate identification of Alzheimer’s disease (AD)-related cellular characteristics from microscopy images is essential for understanding neurodegenerative mechanisms at the cellular level. While most computational approaches focus on macroscopic neuroimaging modalities, cell type classification from microscopy remains relatively underexplored. In this study, we propose a hybrid vision transformer–convolutional neural network (ViT–CNN) framework that integrates DeiT-Small and EfficientNet-B7 to classify three AD-related cell types—astrocytes, cortical neurons, and SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells—from phase-contrast microscopy images. Background: Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the tarsal navicular, particularly with collapse, presents a complex surgical challenge due to compromised vascularity and the need to restore medial column length. This retrospective case series evaluates three distinct surgical approaches to midfoot reconstruction in patients with navicular AVN.

Methods: Three patients with navicular AVN were treated using individualized grafting strategies. Etiologies included chronic protease inhibitor use for HIV, Müller-Weiss syndrome, and post-resection of a giant cell tumor.
