The study aimed to investigate the effects of oral Lactobacillus plantarum (Lp) administration on some serum/tissue (uterus) antioxidant and cytokine levels as well as histopathologic changes in female rats exposed chronically to Cd. For this purpose, rats were separated into four groups including control (C, n = 8), cadmium (Cd, n = 8), Lp (n = 8), and Cd + Lp (n = 8). The aim of the study was to investigate the shape of the foramen magnum and condylus occipitalis of mammalian species belonging to different feeding groups. For this, two-dimensional geometric morphometric method analyses were applied. The data from the skulls of the 12 species were used. In principal component analysis, the first three principal components accounted for 70.353%of the total shape variation. According to the first principal component, the dorsal edge of the condylus occipitalis and foramen magnum contributed the most to shape variation. Despite the increasingly obvious sex differences, male animals are still predominantly used to study stress and related disorders. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of repeated noise stress in female and male mice. In the experiment, 12 male and 12 and female SPF/VAF 6-week-old Crl:CD1(lcr) mice were used. The effects of feeding in different quality rangelands on meat quality and fatty acids composition in Angora goat kids and bucks were determined. Twenty male Angora goat kids were selected from each farm that produces Angora goats in the area. There are three separate rangelands with previously determined quality classes (good, medium, and low-quality). In each farm, among these animals grazed completely on the rangeland, 7 heads from 4-month-old kids and 7 heads from 7-month-old bucks were selected and slaughtered. Background: In this cross-sectional study, we aimed to evaluate auxological measurements and detailed body proportions of recombinant human growth hormone (GH)-treated patients with Turner syndrome (TS) and compare them with a group of healthy females. Materials and methods: We evaluated 42 patients with TS who received GH treatment and 20 healthy controls. Background/aim: We compared long-term outcomes after kidney transplantation (KTx) in patients with and without congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT). Materials and methods: KTx recipients (KTRs) with CAKUT in 1980-2016 were identified; their hard copy and electronic medical records were reviewed and compared to a propensity-score-matched control group (non-CAKUT) from the same period. The primary outcomes were graft loss or death with a functioning graft; secondary outcomes included posttransplant urinary tract infections (UTIs) and biopsy-proven rejection (BPR). Background/aim: Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) possesses well-described photosensitizing properties, and a causal association with nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC) was recently shown. However, previous studies have not shown whether HCTZ use is associated with the risk of recurrence of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) or squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). This study aims to investigate the association between HCTZ use and recurrence in patients with NMSC. Background/aim: To investigate the impact of smoking on disease activity, treatment retention, and response in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) treated with their first tumor necrosis factor-α inhibitor (TNFi). Materials and methods: AS patients who started their first TNFi treatment for the active axial disease (BASDAI ≥ 4) from TURKBIO Registry were included. Background/aim: Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a large vessel vasculitis that may cause significant morbidity in the elderly population. We aimed to evaluate presentation characteristics, treatment, and outcome in a cohort of patients with GCA diagnosed and followed in a single center. Materials and methods: A retrospective chart review revealed 84 (41 M/43 F) registered patients diagnosed with GCA between 1990 and 2020. Background/aim: We aimed to assess the neurodevelopmental status of healthy children with premature anterior fontanel closure. Materials and methods: This retrospective observational study was conducted on 40 (20 M, 20 F) children admitted to Mersin University Pediatric Neurology Outpatient Clinic between 2015-2020 with complaints of premature fontanel closure. Patients with dysmorphic features, microcephaly, craniosynostosis, hypoxic-ischemic sequelae, infections, metabolic disorders, intracranial hemorrhage, epilepsy, endocrine problems, additional congenital anomalies, intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR), prematurity, and postmaturity were excluded.
