Background/aim: The quality of recovery-15 (QoR-15) is a patient reported outcome questionnaire that measures the quality of recovery after surgery and anesthesia. The QoR-15 has been validated in many languages; Turkish version of the QoR-15 has not yet been established. The aims of this study were to translate the QoR-15 questionnaire into Turkish and to perform a full psychometric evaluation of the Turkish version. Materials and methods: After translating the original English version of the QoR-15 scale into Turkish, the QoR-15T scale was psychometrically validated. Background/aim: In our study, we aimed to evaluate the hearing aid benefit and speech intelligibility with hearing aids using objective and subjective measurements, according to the type of hearing loss in elderly individuals who used different types of hearing aids. Background/aim: The aim of this study is to compare the perioperative complications and overall survival of patients who underwent proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) and patients who underwent cemented calcar-replacement hemiarthroplasty (CCRH) for unstable intertrochanteric fracture in patients aged 75 years and older. Materials and methods: A total of 94 patients who underwent PFNA or CCRH between 2010 and 2012 because of femur fracture (A2.2 and A2.3 according to the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen/Orthopaedic Trauma Association (AO/OTA) classification) were analyzed retrospectively. Background/aim: Cushing's disease (CD), which cannot be controlled by surgery, requires medical treatment. In this situation, treatments with long-term effectiveness and safety profiles are needed. We aimed to evaluate the effects and adverse effects of pasireotide treatment in CD. Materials and methods: Patients who were followed up for CD and treated with pasireotide between 2014-2020 at Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty, were evaluated retrospectively. The efficacy and adverse effects of pasireotide were evaluated in this study. Results: Thirty-two patients were evaluated. The mean duration of treatment was 26.5 [range, 12.0-37.0] months. Background/aim: Acne vulgaris (AV) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that is common among adolescents. Its etiology involves hormones, diet, genetics, and environmental factors. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between acne vulgaris and insulin resistance (IR) and visceral adiposity index (VAI). Materials and methods: The study included 184 individuals. Participants' height, weight, waist and hip circumference and blood pressure were measured. Morning fasting blood was obtained from all participants for measuring glucose, insulin, triglyceride (TG), and cholesterol levels. The HOMA index and visceral adiposity index were calculated. Background/aim: Anti IL-1 therapy is useful in suppressing attacks in FMF patients with colchicine resistance, however, it is not certain whether subclinical inflammation can sufficiently be inhibited with anti-IL-1 therapy in FMF patients with amyloidosis. Materials and methods: Forty-six FMF patients receiving anti-interleukin-1 therapy and 36 healthy control patients were compared in terms of laboratory parameters. Background/aim: Bordetella pertussis infection remains an important health problem in adults due to the increasing prevalence in recent years. Pertussis in adults can be easily overlooked or misdiagnosed. We aimed to determine the prevalence of pertussis in adult patients with acute cough and the clinical features of the pertussis cases. Materials and methods: Internal Medicine and Pulmonology inpatient wards and outpatient clinics were screened between March 2017 and June 2018. Background/aim: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has a wide clinical spectrum from asymptomatic to mild, moderate, and severe cases. There are still many unknowns about the role of immunoregulatory mechanisms in COVID-19. We aimed to study regulatory T cells (Tregs) and B cell subsets and evaluate their correlations with severity of COVID-19. Background/aim: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) shares some clinical features with new-onset granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) or GPA flare that may lead to a challenge in differential diagnosis. To date, little is known whether GPA can be induced by COVID-19. Herein, we aimed to seek the frequency and mortality rates of COVID-19 in our GPA cohort, and along with the literature cases, to evaluate clinical features and treatments of GPA patients with COVID-19. Background/aim: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors (CVRF) and the level of cardiovascular risk (CVR), determined with different scales (REGICOR, SCORE, ERICE, vascular age...) in people with low and normal weight.
